ATTENTION WALMART CUSOMERS.......2007-02-22
why did you give this Cd a two overall? are you jelious because rappers have no talent, can't play an instrument. How can you not like Static x, If you like bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Disturbed, System of a down, Godsmack, Iron maiden, Anthrax, Stone sour, Slip knot, Korn, and rob zombie, you have to like Static x. They are easily a five and are in my top five all time favorites. Stop believing the people a walmart!! In order to understand and enjoy the thrash of Static x, you must sit down, give the songs a try, and acually listen to most of the song, not just the begining, like most of you do. You can't judge a song, just by what the begining sounds like. It might suck at first, but listen to what it has to show for.
The best songs on this CD are The Only, Dead World, Monster, and destroy all.
The grooviest Static-X jams found here........2006-12-27
This record is not their heaviest or brightest but it's Funk as hell!
The energy on this album is Crunked up!
I like his singing voice it ain't bad.
It in my opinion sounds better than Korn's voice.
It's a fun listen.
YAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!.......2006-08-17
This new release from Korn,no I mean Limp Noodle-wait sorry Staind? Oh yeah Static something or another. Attention all ADD kids! Rush right out and waste 15 bucks on this unoriginal formulaic BOLOGNA!!!! POO POO! hey isnt nu-metal dead yet? Get Children of Bodom or Chimaera or Megadeth or Opeth or even Machine Head and use this disc for a frisbee. Im still pissed I actually bought it.
My favorite Static-X album. 5 stars all the way!!!.......2006-07-04
I absolutely love every track on this album. Theres more a more Industrial and dark sound to this album than the previous Machine album. Shadow Zone also contains many memories of good times for me.
Shadow Zone isnt exactly as heavy as Machine, but it makes up for it in the lyrics and overall sound of the album. If you liked the last two Static-X albums then you'll be sure to love this one. Some favorite tracks of mine are Otsegolectric, Dead World, The Only, Shadow Zone, and Destroy All.
this sux.......2006-01-08
some friend of mine was braggining on about how good this band where so try the out i borrowed his cd i tried to get into it but its impossible since all the songs sounds the same and all the riffs are a bit dumb to be honest i think this album lacks imagination i think especially because of wayne statics vocals witch i do not enjoy this is my first expierience of the band it wasnt a good one im not furmilliar with there previous work but they must be able to do better than this

Awesome Set!.......2007-07-01
I am a huge fan of Jerry Goldsmith. They did a great job preserving his vision. I can listen to this collection for hours. Great music!
Elmer Bernstein Film Music Collection.......2006-11-03
This is compilation of hit film music from one of the greatest composers in motion pictures. What is surprising though is the music not included like the Ghost And The Darkness, the 13th Warrior, Rudy and others. To be sure, 4 discs are not enough for a composure of this stature. THe recording, however, is an "engineering masterpiece" which makes the music even more enjoyable than when you first heard it at the movies. When are we ging to get the music that was omittd from this compilaton?
Overall a strong Goldsmith sampler.......2006-04-11
Okay, this is a CD review, so the focus is on music, but I've got to say this first: this has got to be a contender for the ugliest cover art ever. I mean, come on...instead of a tribute to the composer, the cover looks like someone spilled a glass of merlot over a NASA photo.
Fortunately, even an ugly cover will not ruin good music. And the good news is that I'd say about 75 percent of the music is good....and on a 4 cd set, that's a lot. Like other Silva compilations, the strength of this compilation is the variety. There are selections from the big releases (Star Trek, Omen, Rambo), but there is also a healthy dose of tracks from the smaller releases(Under Fire, Lionheart, The Swarm).
Two examples come to mind. Capricorn One and The Great Train Robbery are two movies that are not exactly household names today, but are dominated by two of Goldmith's finest main themes. The City of Prague Philharmonic come through with terrific renditions. And there are plenty of other strong performances...a few being concert versions conducted by Goldsmith himself. Suprisingly, "The Wind and the Lion" works, which is no small accomplishment given the ferentic original performance of "Raisuli Attacks".
It's not a complete success. A few of the performances fall flat, particularly some of the more inventive scores. Total Recall is just bad, mangling the performance with poor percussion and synthesizer choices to boot. Also a letdown is the Klingon Attack from the first Star Trek movie. The Prague Philhamonic attempt doesn't sound bad--it's just that once you've heard the original soundtrack's "blaster beam" with enough bass to rattle your teeth...well let's just say Silva's version is a little tinny in comparison.
But I shouldn't dwell on the negative. Overall, this is a strong sampler of Goldsmith's variety. There are plenty of quality performances here, and despite a few omissions (noticeably Planet of the Apes)this is a very good release from Silva.
Jerry Goldsmith - 40 years of pleasure.......2006-02-22
It was wonderful to hear Mr. Goldsmith's music that went all the way back to The Man from UNCLE, The Waltons, Dr Kildare, etc. And then to hear his music up to the present. The man was a genius!
Almost the perfect compilation.......2005-12-31
Age has its value.... This sweeping collection of compositions brings back so many great memories. This collection shows how significant Goldsmith was for both the movie screen and the small screen. With such a grand collection, every reader can be assured that at least one movie or TV program they like or remember had Goldsmith's contribution. It was an amazing life and the collection well worth having.
However, as sweepig as it is, there are a few holes in the selection. "First Contact", one of the sweetest and richest compositions from the Star Trek is absent. "The Ghost and the Darkness" is missing and the "Medicine Man" music should include the theme song. By dwelling on several selections from the Blue Max, these were squeezed out. Three full and important movie themes got the axe.
However, all but "The Ghost and the Darkness" are readily available and not overly expensive as is the "Ghost" CD. This is a must have for the TV and movie music fan.
Before there was Hans Solo there was Napolean Solo, before ER there was Dr. Kildare. Jerry Goldsmith IS Sci-Fi. "Resistance is futile.. you MUST assimilate this CD collection."

Not their best.......2005-08-13
This is a new sound out of Static X and if you listen to the cd without making up your mind after the first song you will like it is is different. If you get used to where they are going with the music then it will be a good cd. If you are new to Static X and are not sure where to start listening to it I would start with Wisconsin Death Trip then Machine then Shadow Zone it will progress as you go.

...KOOL!.......2004-12-07
This is by-far the best of Static-X's albums. I am a heavy metal fan, but the best is static-x. They have changed over the years getting better and better each album! First with WDT, it was awesome, it had only one downfall... There lead guitarplayer sucked, i mean wayne did half of it anyway let alone singin, that guys riffs sounded the same very often, but still that album rocks! Now im on Machine. They now have Tripp Eisen... There the ultimate now, with there guitar riffs and waynes awesome howl, and kens drumming! they just rule, theres nothing else to it! Now im on Shadowzone. Now that Ken left...WE HAVE NICK! The drumming was awesome b4 and its awesomer now! i dont know how they can get any better! Then i noticed another thing, the guitars were much heavyer and much better than b4 making this album the best in the world. Then the BIGGEST thing i noticed was that wayne balances his awesome howl and his unique tone of voice out! Making them sound like they should win some kind of award for the best artist ever! If your friends try to tell you that anyone can scream into a mic then tell him its not a scream its an awesome heavy howl and amazing origional vocals that doesntcompare to you So STFU b4 i drop kik u in ur fat little head.
Quite the variety.......2004-10-31
This cd is incredible. Every song is unique, none are the same. It's really great to not hear the same thing over and over again.
Destroy All - 10/10 - Oh my god! this song just grabs you by the nuts and blows you away with incredibly heavy music. in a word, awesome.
Control It - 9/10 - A more fast song than the first but with less screaming.
New Pain - 10/10 - A slower song but with incredible vocals and guitar this song should go to heavy metal hall of fame.
Shadow Zone - 9/10 - The chorus is a little strange but the verses are really fast and heavy all at once.
Dead World - 7/10 - all the vocals in this song have a strong dose of waynes unique vocals. too much for my liking.
Monster - 10/10 - the vocals are so incredibly fast its hard to keep up with them. it sounds like he's saying ribbit in some parts tho.
The Only - 10/10 - This song was the first song I ever heard from static-x. I heard it on NFS: underground. It's really sweet. a slower song but very harmonic vocals from wayne.
Kill Your Idols - 10/10 - at first listen I didn't like this song but then I decided to listen again for it's heavy chorus and then I loved it. this song may seem kinda bad but give it a chance.
All In Wait - 10/10 - The songs flow of slow-verse to heavy-chorus works incredibly well. the long drawn out vocals in the verses are really captivating.
Ostegolectric - 10/10 - and so continues the tradition. as per every static-x cd there is a song called otstego_something. this song has a really good heavy chorus. and yeah thats about it.
So - 10/10 - the must have slow song on the album. very oriented verse and chorus lyrics. an awesome song.
Transmission - 10/10 - the all-music song on the album. most all-music songs are kinda slow and boring but this one is heavy! I was so excited over the ideah of a heavy all-music and this one blows me away.
Invincible - 10/10 - at first it's a slow song then about half way through it changes to a heavy song. really cool
DVD - 10/10 - the interviews with the band are really great but wayne should try to share the spotlight a bit more. The live performances are really awesome. especially "push it" and "destroy all".
Quite a disapointment.......2004-07-23
I started listening to Static-X when I bought their 2nd cd, Machine a few years back. I was amazed and very happy with my purchase... so happy I also purchased their first cd Wisconsin Death Trip. These two cds really enhanced my cd collection, and I couldn't wait for Shadow Zone. Yet, I got wind that Ken Jay, Static-X's drmmer, left the band! This really hurt my expectations... because his beats were the backbone of Machine. Anyway, the day comes and Shadow Zone is released, and to no surprise, it did not mesure up to their other two cds. I suggest, if you're just getting into Static-X, purchase WDT or Machine first, than maybe get Shadow Zone. If you're a long time listener (I'm sure you already have it but...) its still Static-X. Its still better than most $hit out there.

Album Description
Axel Rudi Pell, one of the most renowned and charismatic German rock guitarists, is about to release his thirteenth solo album, Shadow Zone. Like few other German musicians, Pell has been instrumental in moulding the national rock music landscape of the Eighties and Nineties, making a successful transition to the present. Shadow Zone is full of multi-layered material documenting an important piece of timeless German metal history. Over the years, Pell has consciously remained faithful to his compositional style, deliberately staying away from short-lived trends or supposed innovations but affording himself the luxury - to the delight of his many fans - of exclusively and uncompromisingly following his own preferences. He says: "I haven't reinvented metal, but I've remained faithful to myself. This implies that the basic style of my compositions has stayed the same. But I think the new tracks sound more mature and even more catchy than my previous albums." Step into the Shadow Zone!
Album Description
2002 album from Germany's premier heavy metal guitarist. Ten tracks including, 'Curse Of The Chains', 'Edge Of The World', 'Coming Home' & 'Live For The King'. SPV Records. 2002.
Customer Reviews:
good CD, not his best.......2003-10-01
While Shadow Zone is a good CD, it's not ARP's best. If you are to buy your first ARP CD, I would recommend "Magic" or "Black Moon Pyramid" instead - those were the peak of ARP, with the mighty Jeff Scott Soto singing.
I think the other albums with Gioeli's vocals ("Oceans" and "Masquerade") are superior to this one, basically because songs are more diverse, vocals are more dynamic and those CDs have fewer ballads than this one. In time, Shadow Zone would be a far better CD if ARP dropped one ballad and included one more rocker, especially because the slow tunes here are not as diverse and inventive as in past efforts (listen to "Eyes Of The Lost" off of "Magic").
The top songs here are "Follow the Sign", "Edge Of The World" and "Coming Home".
Anyway, with ARP you don't go wrong, even if you don't get one of his top works. The guy plays classic metal with good guitar riffs, strong vocal melodies and a powerful rhythm session.
The final proof: Heavy metal can be beautiful!.......2003-09-03
I am essentially prog-rock oriented, mostly early 70's. Though a couple of years ago I came across AC/DC's Men in black (from 1980) which is great and hinted that checking out other heavy metal bands might be worthwile. So I listened to Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeath, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, and others. Not at all impressing. Recently I was in Germany and gave Axel Rudi Pell a try. What revelation that was! There is an almost orchestral sound (presumably created by keyboard, bass, and playback tapes, I don't care) which reminded me a bit of the unique orchestral sound - without the metal component of course - of the Moody Blues in their heyday (67-73). And there is a lot of m e l o d y, something that lacks in AC/DC, let alone the other bands mentioned. There is n o weak track on this cd. So, now I am convinced to further explore the heavy metal scene for similar juwels. I started by ordering Axel's Masquerade Ball which features a cover version of Uria Heep's July morning. I can't go wrong with this one.
Another ARP gem !.......2003-05-20
Hail !
Another great studio album from the German Axe Master.
Nice cover, nice intro, great rockers, great ballads, great epics... all that we expect from Axel Rudi Pell.
Listen to "Edge Of The World", "Follow The Sign" and "Saint Of Fools".
Strong, consistent, and classic Pell.......2002-06-22
For those who are familiar with Axel Rudi Pell's brand of melodic hard rock, they know that his style doesn't change too much -- and this can be a good thing. Following in the path of Oceans of Time and The Masq. Ball, Shadow Zone presents itself as one of Axel's most consistent and powerful albums in many years. Every song on this album is great, and no one song plays King of the Hill over the other. Through numerous listenings of this album, I'd still be hard pressed to pick any favorite song.
Axel has trimmed a few minutes off of some of the longer epic songs, but results in some of the most spectacular and catchy solos he has ever created.
The only con to this album is the song Saint of Fools. Decent song in itself, but it borrows too heavily from other songs with guitar parts (Edge of the World) and choruses (Tear Down the Walls).
Conclusion: If you are new to Axel's music, I recommend picking up either this album or The Wizard's Chosen Few as a good starting point. And if you loved Oceans of Time and The Masq. Ball and don't have this album, then Shadow Zone is another great album to complement your ARP CD collection.
