Editorial Reviews
Product Description
Considered Scotland's answer to Janis Joplin, Maggie Bell is certainly one of the genre's most talented white female blues singers. Her band, Stone the Crows, was very successful thanks to the high quality of their albums and numerous live appearances. Unfortunately, it was during one of these many live performances that guitarist Leslie Harvey (brother of Alex of the A.H. Band) was tragically electrocuted. Harvey was an excellent guitarist, influenced by Jimmy Page (who he actually played with early in his career), his full talents are captured in this live performance, recorded in Montreux just a few weeks before his death in 1972. The songs on this album are longer than their studio versions and the grand finale is a frenzied 21-minute version of Dylan's 'Hollis Brown' (although depending on the occasion the band was sometimes known to stretch the song to 45 minutes).
