5 out of 5 stars Forgive me the mistypes but MUSIC is a universal language :).......2001-05-31

I bought this album after i bought and studied Band of Gypsys. This album was allready a lot different then their other albums he created with the Experience. It sounds more soullike, or like singing in church. He was busy breaking through and it's a shame he could never finish it:-( . You can hear that Hendrix was very relaxed but still a little bit insecure about bringing his new compostitions to the public like: Stepping Stone, Stop, Earth Blues and Burning Desire. But insecurity is essential and made a lot of his work as intense as it was, crossing bounderies. The 2 versions of Machine Gun are mindblowing! The climaxes are more intense then the original one on Band of Gypsys, not saying that it was better, just with different feeling. Stone free is brilliant with the high pase that the studioversion missed. Hear my train a comin' is a beautiful blues. But all the songs have their ways, played differently then before. The album takes you back to a special place in history, an era that ended too soon. Some of the songs aren't as well worked on as others but it states that Jimi Hendrix was a master, and he proves that on this liverecordings.
