Expected Too Much, but Still Not a Bad Deal (4.5 Really).......2007-01-09

I could hardly wait to play this CD when I received it. The sound quality, while quite good, has a bit of a different timbre to it, than the standard EMI releases, "Please Please Me" and "With the Beatles."

If you could afford it, you could make your own CD-R, out of the 2 aforementioned cd's, plus "I (Wanna) Hold Your Hand, off of the Beatles "1" CD and "This Boy" from "Past Masters Vol. 1" CD. Also, you can add some additional tracks from "Live at the BBC," and "Anthology 1."

It may have been more valuable to leave this CD in its nice shrink wrap, then sell it later on. From what I can tell, these are rare, and not all of the different albums are available (at this time at least).

Lastly, I wholeheartedly "wanna" SAY that I am a drummer, who, on my first grade report card (from 1964) has a comment from my teacher, Miss Jones/Mrs. Ruhah, that "(she) will always think of me as one of the Beatles" -- just to let you know where I am coming from (& that's Pennsylvania, by the way).

So I noticed that one of the bonus songs has some jazz-like drumming on it, which is different than anything I have heard on any commercially released Beatles records & CD's. I think it is Ringo playing that, with a fill that has a lot of snare drum in it. So, anyway, maybe this CD is worth it, because of bonus tracks like this.

In addition, the CD label is a faithful rendition of an original VJ Records label, which has the familiar "circular rainbow" (I would call it) around it. This was found on the VJ Records' "Introducing the Beatles," that we had 1964. Also, the "circular rainbow" appeared on all the Capitol (U.S.) versions of Beatles albums, until "Hey Jude/Revolution" 45 rpm record was released, on the Beatles own Apple Corps record label.

FINALLY, I want to add that MOST INTERESTING BEATLES SONG EVER, in my opinion is "THE INNER LIGHT," BY GEORGE HARRISON. It is not on this CD that is being reviewed. Rather, it is on the "Past Masters Volume 2" EMI/Capitol/Apple Release. It was originally the "B" side of the 45 rpm "Lady Madonna" record.

Ok, I got mine, where's yours?.......2007-01-04

These Russian gems, with their added tracks, are not to be passed up. I've got all mine, so now the cat's out of the bag! These are going to become collectors items if they aren't already, why you don't have them is my question.

For nothing else, you always get two Beatle records on one cd. Lord knows how great this is to take into the auto or to a party. Then there are the little gems of extra tracks ! I feel like a kid in a candy store ! Did I mention the inner sleeves? Hint: One even has the famous BUTCHER COVER in it!

So kids...don't be the last one on yer block to collect all of them because, like the saying goes, once they're gone, they're gone!

These guys are the best live band I've ever seen. They are so much more real than all this Good Charlotte - Simple Plan Shlock! They are a RAWK band above all - loud and crazy live. Great CD from a band who can and will Kick You In the Teeth! I recommend this to all who dare... HD Rules!

No filler. Just one great song after another. I love this album - Specifically - "Running", "Devil in You", "What You See", and "Hello Somebody" are extremely catchy songs that rock.

Not A Bad Collection.......2000-07-28

Now here is a collection of artists paying tribute to the Beatles. This is a worthwhile CD to buy. You have some of the best acts in the business covering Beatles songs.

I would have rated this CD five stars. However, it is missing a few classic covers such as the Hooters rendition of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and Joe Cockers gut-wrenching version of "With A Little Help From My Friends." Still, you get Ritchie Havens doing an outstanding job covering George Harrison's "Here Comes the Sun." Maybe Ritchie's cover of "Eleanor Rigby" should have been included as well. I may have also included Phoebe Snow's version of "Don't Let Me Down" as well.

Generally speaking, a CD full of great Beatles songs done by some of the best in the business. A real compliment to the Beatles and a treat for us. Buy this CD. You won't be disappointed.

Better than you'd expect.......1999-09-15

Unlike so many "tribute" albums done by marginal groups, this one cooks. I'd buy it just for the Ritchie Havens "Here Comes the Sun".

The best tribute compilation out there!.......1998-11-13

Simply the best tribute compilation out there...the styles are varied from a touch of the 70's to the 80's....immediate standouts are Nilsson's well crafted Beatles medley "You Can't Do That" and Sioux and The Banshees "Dear Prudence" with that unforgettable 80's feel to it...Aretha Franklin turns in a soulful rendition of "Let it Be"...all that is missing is perhaps Joe Cocker's "With A Little Help From My Friends" and Elton john's "Lucy in the Sky..." to make this set complete...perhaps and hopefully there will be a volume two!
