A fun way to introduce Classical Music.......2002-06-05

This compilation Album represents the best that the Hooked on Classics series have to offer. THis is an excellent way to make Classical Music interesting to those who might think Classical Music is "boring".

Louis Clark has arranged some of the most popular composers and their most popular works in a way that will keep toes tapping and hands clapping to the fast tempos while some of the slower tracks (Hooked on Romance) become warm melodies to the ear.

As usual, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of londa, plays the arrangements with seeming ease and perfecton. The orcehstras ability to play these arrangements is more than just "playing along with a Rock beat" but, a wonderful demonstration of musical perfection.

Louis Clark createtd the hooked on Classics world, with Albums 1 - 3 and has been followed by others who try to copy his recipe (Hooked on Classics 4 - Hooked on Baroque and Hooked on Classics 5)but never seem to capture the gleam of the original three albums.

Stop by Sam Brown.......2007-01-05

Great voice! I especially like her version of "Horse to the Water", which I first heard on the George Harrison Tribute DVD sung by Sam Brown and accompanied by Jools Holland. Lots of energy in her music and the depth of her diversity is apparent in this DVD.

Sam Brown is a Superb artist..........2005-07-07

...and this album was her debut release from 1988, though it spawned a couple of top twenty hits she has spent little time in the charts since but continues to produce some great work.
She has a huge cult following and has become an artist on the fringe of the mainstream which is a place many artists chose to be, and I believe she may be one of them; here they do not have to bow and scrape to popular demands and the whims of record producers. Here they can work freely, develop a strong fan base and maintian robust artistic integrity.
"Stop!" is recognisable now because Jamelia released it last year for the film, "Bridget Jones the edge of reason", but she has not even half the depth and richness of voice to belt the song out like Sam does on this original. It's an oldy but a goody and a descriptive work in terms where British pop/soul was headed in the late 80's before the manufactured craze took over. Buy "Stop!", and you won't stop with Sam Brown!

More People Should Know About Sam.......2004-07-18

This listener first "discovered" Sam Brown when I had the good fortune to go to London in November 2002 and attend the Concert for George at the Royal Albert Hall.

I knew of her peripherally, because she had done backing vocals for George's remake of "My Sweet Lord" in 2000. But that's all I knew.

Until the night of the concert. Sam blew away the audience with her version of George's "Horse To Water." Here's this little British woman belting out this song with such power, emotion and a great sense of fun.

I've since managed to pick up all of her solo CDs. Stop! is the first, recorded in 1988. It is a great mix of soul and pop, and shows off Sam's amazing voice in a number of ways. She is playful, yearning and strong...and all are totally believable.

It's a shame that she's never broken into the market in the U.S., because a lot of people are missing out on a fine fine singer. I heartily recommend this CD to anyone who appreciates good vocalists.

Carson Daly Show.......2003-08-25

Saw Junior Senior on the Carson Daly show the other night they were great.They seem to have this funky kinda Archie Bell and the Drells happy sound.The drums were abit different and the background girls seemed plan and funky.You have this intresting contrast of heavy guy and skinny guitarist offseting each other.I haven't listened to the whole cd yet but looking forward to picking it up at the local recod store later this week.

Junior Senior, a brand new group from out of nowhere, display an incredibly refined sense of fun on their debut album. The Atari 2600 graphics in the music video for their first single, "Move Your Feet," show these guys are definitely aiming for something different. In the end, it ends up being different than anything else available as pop music right now - though it's not necessarily too innovative.

Great, danceable hooks are available in almost every song, and the singing can fool most listeners into thinking they're hearing native English speakers. Junior goes from sounding like Mick Jagger to a cross between the Beatles and Bob Dylan before the close of the album. A few songs made me go, "have I heard this before?"
A quick look at the behind-the-scenes QuickTime movie on the enhanced CD will clearly show these performances weren't one-take... but the live version of Move Your Feet at the end of the album demonstrates an outstanding stage presence. You will want to see these guys live after listening through the whole CD and hearing that last song.

The Explicit Lyrics sticker is very unnecessary... I heard them drop the f-bomb once, maybe twice if it was repeated in the song "White Trash." You could easily let the word sneak under your radar by the excessively loud, noisy, and overall trashy sounds of this track. If the title "chicks and dicks" angers you... then you're probably not the dancing type, anyway.

This album is just great fun. Nice, peppy music to get you started on a night out, or something to dance to beside some stranger you wanna-do-do-after-dark.

This has to be one of the best CD's I've heard in recent memory. EVERY single track is well written,imaginitive,and just downright FUN!! Go pick this CD up NOW!! A splendid time is guaranted by all!

Moving / Beutiful balad..........2006-03-01

After 9/11, I saw Oasis the following spring in Chicago. I dont know if this was intentional but while they played this song, on the screen behind them appeared to be butterflies all moving in a row. I had tears as I watched & listened. This song helps me & hopefully others deal with the sorrow. Listen to it.

Mad Fer It.......2002-10-30

Truly one of Noel's finest ballads, "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" is Oasis at it's melodic best. These boys can pump out a rock anthem with style and panache, but "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" along with "wonderwall" and "Slide Away" show the bands ability to diversify, and do it well.
It's refreshing to hear the brothers Gallagher singing together, reminiscent of "Stand By Me", and the song itself tugs at the heart strings, and encourages all of us to have hope...hold on....

Love it, love the band, can't get enough of them-recently saw them live in Melbourne Australia, and fell in love with the boys and their music all over again..!

Got it for the B-sides.......2002-08-02

Since I already own the album, I bought this single just for the B-sides--a habit of mine when it comes to Oasis. So what's the story this time? Thank You For The Good Times should have made the album, in my opinion. It sounds like a cross between Roll With It and Some Might Say, and is a lot better than All In The Mind, which, inexplicably, DID make the album, stinking up the second half of it. The other B-side Shout It Out Loud is not a Kiss cover, thankfully, but is not a great song, either. It's one of those plodding Noel ballads that eventually--and you have to be patient on this--grows on you. Why couldn't Liam sing it? Anyone else out there tired of Noel singing more and more leads?

Don't 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out', A Brilliant Song.......2002-07-14

STOP CRYING YOUR HEART OUT is probably the best track on Oasis' latest album, Heathen Chemistry. For the weak at heart, this song will make you cry. if you hear this and don't feel anything, there's something wrong with you man! it's a song that opens up with a soothing piano intro and liam's gentle voice saying 'hold on...hold up...don't be scared', the song evolves into a tearjerker but uplifting & beautiful tune filled with string arrangements and a chorus that goes "all of the stars have faded away, try not to worry, you'll see them someday" and the haunting voice of Noel responding to liam's 'why you scared?" with "i'm not scared". a potential number one single and the song that will bring oasis back to the american masses. you just got to love it!

Truly Noel's modern day masterpiece.

This is absolutely brilliant. The aside is a perfect ballad/anthem, but the bsides are great two: Thank You For The Good Times is a Heroes(Bowie) style song and Shout It Out Loud is a nice quiet number a bit like a previous bside Talk Tonight. The album is great but it takes many listens to grow on you- this single and The Hindu Times are excellent and you'll like them instantly!

if you like relaxing trance, get this one A.S.A.P........2002-02-21

First time I heard this dance music at a club, damnnn, I just started dancing right away. I love this, "DON'T STOP". ATB rocks, and I even got a copy for myself. "9 P.M." and "Dont Stop", have a bit similarities it's just that they changed the style. I don't have 9 pm yet, but I'm pretty sure I'll be the first one to get it. If you like trance, and more relaxing, I recommend you to get 9 P.M. and Don't Stop and enjoy yourself dancing.

Trance for the Masses

If you set foot in a club more than once over the last couple of years, you likely heard one (probably both) of these trance classics from André Tanneberger, a.k.a., ATB. The two hits made the German DJ king of club heaven Ibiza for most of 2000 and played no small part in enshrining it "The Year of Trance." As a sign of his success, it's almost impossible to buy an Ibiza compilation without stumbling over one of the two. The tracks also took the UK by storm, with 9PM (Till I Come) topping the charts and Don't Stop climbing all the way to number seven.

If, on the other hand, you spent recent years at frat-boy clubs listening to beats laid over Top 40 pop and recently graduated to Trance, you will love this album. The solid beats and lofty tunes embody the best of trance and put ATB on the level of trance legends like Sasha, John Digweed & Paul Van Dyk.

Though newcomers will love it, this album might be the biggest treat for veterans of the club scene, and it's a must have for ATB addicts. It's not often that a great DJ puts five excellent remixes of each of his two best tracks on one album, but this import is the exception to the rule. The Spacekid remix of Don't Stop and Matt Darey's (UK House DJ also known as Li Kwan) remake of 9PM are worth the price of admission alone...and there are still ten more solid tracks to go.

In short, this album has something for everyone and is 12 tracks of trance for the masses.

Cool Obscure Track.......2006-03-04

"Stop Playing Guitar" is the only single from The Promise Ring's Wood/Water, "Surfer Never" would have been the second single. It is a great mellow tune that represents how most of Wood/Water is. There are two versions of "Stop Playing Guitar"; they are virtually the same except the first one is an edit that is a minute shorter. The last song is the album version that last about five minutes, which is funny. Almost no difference, but:

Track two is Wood/Water outtake that is a grand song called "All Good Souls". It is easy to see why "AGS" didn't make the album, because it isn't really too mellow and probably wouldn't well on Wood/Water.

I absolutely ADORE this song!! I love it!! It's my favorite Latin song (well, one of them, at least) of all time. STOP has got a great Latin-flava beat and it's uptempo, with easy lyrics to sing along to. And what a great song to sing along to! STOP makes you wanna get up and dance. If you love Latin music than you must get this single! Also, the remixes on this CD are really awesome, too! Although I've heard Jon Secada's most recent album, BETTER PART OF ME, isn't all that great. But this single sure is. It should've been nominated for a Grammy or two because it definitely deserves one. What a hot 'n sizzling single! Two words: Must Buy, Must Buy, Must, Buy!!!

Jon is back and more awesome than ever. this is must have single for all you club fans. the album version is cool but, if you really want to dance, buy the single. track #4 the Johnathan peters club mix is the best he does this song justice! And believe me this song will have everyone on thier feetdancing

Jon Secada is back!! It'd been quite some time since his last album and his return single Stop is really something. The tune and beat is very catchy and his voice is priceless.. The first time I heard the song I was so into it that I kept singing whatever part of the song I could recall for the next few days.. He is what you can call a pioneer of latin music. Each of the songs that he's written, even for other artists like Ricky Martin (She's All I Ever Had), have his signature style.. There's something about Jon that makes you come back for more. If you haven't heard Stop yet, you've missed out on one of the biggest smash hits of this summer!

Jon Secada has really delved into his newest work for the upcoming album "Better Part of Me". This single 'Stop' has to be the funkiest song I've heard from him in a long time. It's saucy, tempting -- his voice calls out to you, to dance, to sing, to just sway along with him. The best mix on the single is the Pablo Flores mix, blazing with a salsa beat. It just makes you want to jump up and DANCE! The house mixes are cool too, but that one is my favorite. All Secada fans MUST have this single, and if you're not a fan yet, you WILL be!
