5 out of 5 stars AWESOME CD........2006-05-27

This CD is worth every penny. All the songs in this CD are great. Some people want to compare this band to Chimaira but they have their own unique sound. I went to see them live and Noah's voice is the real deal. He has an incredible vocal range. The guitars and drumming are incredible. This is a must have CD for your collection!

5 out of 5 stars Bleed the Sky.......2006-04-18

I really wasn't expecting much from this band, considering the recent METALCORE OVERDOSE flooding the market and the association of the word "Bleed" in a band name with awful music. I was getting kind of sick of Metalcore but this was one of few i don't regret listening too. First off, the drummer kicks ass, the guitars are great, and there singer has a yell that is reminicent of Mark Hunter from Chimaira. He even has a half decent singing voice, although it does sound heavily FXed often times. If your going to compare this band to Chimaira, then lets compare them in an area where they will be better then Chimaira for the reviews sake. What im trying to say is if you were to put Bleed the Sky's debut "Paradigm in Entropy" next to Chimaira's debut "Pass Out of Existence" i'd say Bleed the Sky would own Chimaira. I'll look forward to a future release by these guys and see what direction they've decided to go in, definite potential here. If you like Chimaira, or Metalcore in general i'd recommend this record.

5 out of 5 stars Very Good Album.......2006-04-18

I must've listened to Bleed The Sky's debut album "Paradigm In Entropy" like 4 or 5 times already. Whenever I listen to this album, it just warps straight into my head, and I just can't get enough of it. These guys reminds me of Chimaira alot (one of my favorite bands), but with more intense shrieks and more clean singing. Noah Robinson has a nice vocal range, going from a vicious shriek like scream to an awesome clean singing voice that's not overdone which is a good thing. Guitarists Kyle Moorman and Wayne Miller have some nice crushing dual riffs and even a few solos which is pretty nice (although I wish they could've done more solos on here, but oh well there's always next time). But it's Austin D'Ammond's drumming on here that really gets my attention. This album is chock full of sick double bass drum patterns throughout that really get your adrenaline going. The album kicks off with a bang with my favorite song "Minion". I just love that solo near the ending, it kicks ass. The next three songs "Killtank", "Paradigm In Entropy", and "Skin Un Skin" are juggernauts of ripping double bass drum patterns and searing riffs that'll rip your bare flesh off. Other good songs including "Leverage" and "The Martyr" showcase Noah's clean singing abilities. The other songs are good, but those are my favorites. So anyways if you're a fan of Chimaira, then I suggest you give Bleed The Sky a shot. Grab a can of Monster Energy, put this badboy in your stereo, turn the volume full blast, and raise those horns. Peace Out!
Jeremy's track ratings:
1. Minion - 10/5 Favorite song. Love the solo near the end.
2. Killtank - 5/5
3. Paradigm In Entropy - 5/5
4. Skin Un Skin - 5/5
5. Leverage - 5/5
6. The Martyr - 5/5

3 out of 5 stars From Europe, with love...aha..........2006-03-30

Well, let me just say one thing...im european, and I dont understand why some american people put american metal down to nothing, as if the only thing you do is to copy the pure grain european metal...let me disagree. I didnt knew Bleed the Sky, until I bought this album, and really...its a good album. The vocals could be better, the drums are quite good, and guitars convince...I think they do sound great, not original, but they can create a sound of their own. Very intense music, good to listen, and worth buying.
Its true it still sounds raw, but give the guys a chance, and time to build up their sound...some great bands only achieved that after 3/4 albuns. And do not despise american metal, you still have some of the greatest metal bands.

5 out of 5 stars great band .......2006-01-28

Album Description

Incorporating elements of punk and dark electronics, this rock outfit have outdone themselves. "Bleed" is heavier than anything they've released but it still maintains the overall feel of their past while looking to the future. It will leave the competition bewildered.

5 out of 5 stars Oustanding, start to finish.......2007-07-09

Take everything that makes dark music good and combine it in one group. What would you get? Bella Morte. Bleed the Grey Sky Black is an exercise in greatness. From the opening track, On the Edge, to the album closing, Haunted, this is an outstanding album. If there is one CD that you get this year this should be it! Not generally for the dance crowd, Punk, Metal and old-school Goth influences abound. What are you doing still reading this? Buy the CD already.

1 out of 5 stars I don't get it........2007-06-09

I think that thses guys are a decent live band, and they have a reputation for being total gentleman...sadley, not all of thier albums are worth the price of bubblegum. This is one of those examples. It's not that I dissaprove of them getting "harder" and taking things closer to metal. The problem is that this music is just too soft and fluffy. Bella Morte have a Backstreety/Cruxshadowy/babybat vibe that bugs the hell out of me. I wish they would just turn evil and make something more interresting. I find this album to be boaring and highly overrated.

5 out of 5 stars Bella Morte, cutting deeper than ever.......2007-03-22

This is the familiar Bella Morte with a sharper edge in every way. (Though their rendition of Earth Angel was surprising to me.) If you like them, then you should love to add this to your collection. But if you've found them too softly haunting on their other CDs, then you might like the heavier hitting music and lyrics of this one, though they remain as morbid and gloomy as ever.

5 out of 5 stars The best since Where Shadows Lie.......2007-03-18

Bella Morte Unleashed a stunner on us several years back with Where Shodows Lie, but since then haven't quite found their footing. The Death Rock EP was great, but too short (as EPs tend to be), and The Quiet, As the Reasons Die, and Songs for the Dead all had their ups and downs.

This album, unfortunately, starts on a downer. On the Edge seems to be written with the same feel as the songs on As the Reasons Die, but after it's over, there's just stunner after stunner after stunner. "Torn" could honestly find significant radio play if promoted correctly, and there's definitely single-material elsewhere in the album also.

5 out of 5 stars Bella Morte:Reborn.......2006-10-21

I've been listening to Bella Morte since the days of Where Shadow's Lie, and I have to say that they started to get a little bland once they started doing As The Reasons Die. As The Reasons Die just didnt have any songs that stood out as original and came off sounding like The Quiet Part II. A change was needed to spark some more originality in the band's music. Well, they have made that change big time, because Bleed The Grey Skies Black is a fantastic album. There are several new elements to the Bella Morte sound. For one, the bands is WAY heavier now. The guitar's have been upped a notch or two and now stand out from the Keyboards, although the Keys are still a big part of the album. Andy Deane expands his vocal style to a minor growl/yell on some songs, but still sings in his classic melodic/goth vocals. He is an amazingly good singer. Another big change is the addition of real drums. Their drummer Jordan first recorded with the band on the Songs For The Dead e.p. The drums add a great organic precision to the songs making them more energetic. There is even some double bass on this record! I think long-time Bella Morte fans are going to flip when they hear this record because it is such an exciting and fresh direction for them! This would also be a good starting point for new fans. Its has all the elements of The Quiet/Where Shadow's Lie, but adds a fierce punk rock crunch to the songs. Songs like Ghost Land and On The Edge have a dark and heavy edge to them with killer keyboards and guitar. Torn is great too with a fast punk beat and a killer chorus. The Alone has an awesome dancy sound to it with crunchy guitar. Haunted is a great melodic anthem with shouting choral vocals. There is also a cover of the classic 50's song "Earth Angel", which they pulled off great. I was totally surprised by their choice of a cover song and it further illustrates their varied tastes. This album blows As The Reason's Die out of the water. Bella Morte has become a great Goth Rock band and this album proves it. I also recommend getting the Songs For The Dead e.p. which also has some unique experimentation in jazz/punk/goth/rock.

4 out of 5 stars People are way too critical.......2007-03-06

Why does everyone feel the need to be negative and bash bands you don't like just because it doesn't fall into the genre of music you like? I think Reveille is pretty good for what they are. They're your standard nu-metal band that doesn't bring anything new to the table, but with the same token, they play very good music and just because their lyrics aren't "political" or "religious" doesn't mean their lyrics suck. In fact I think their lyrics match well with the music they deliver. I'm personally a metalcore guy but I'll listen to anything from your average hard rock band like Shinedown to melodic death metal like At the Gates. I appreciate good music and I don't make the mistake like many of you and stick only to one genre and bash anything outside of that. I mean what is "real metal" anyway? Do you have to perform solos, do clean vocals have to be non-existent, does it have to be progressive? I mean come on. If you don't like the band, you're entitled to that. But no one else cares that you want to bicker about some band you don't care for. Keep it to yourself. No one's putting a gun to your head and forcing you to listen to Reveille. If they are that's unfortunate.

5 out of 5 stars 5 stars , hands down (my favourite band).......2006-02-24

living in pretoria, south africa,is extremely difficult.in the sense that its almost impossible to find good metal cds,let alone see live acts. reveille however,is not metal. (so for all you metalheads out there, dont bother listening to the album, dont bother buying it and dont bother writing a review about it. i know you'll hate it)

its impossible to write a review about a band as amazing, passionate, cynical and moving as this,in 2006. (when their prime was between 1999 and 2003, when things were very different) i will always be in awe of drew's screams, as blood curdling as they are, at his age, they're on another level of liberation.

if you're sitting at your desk, wondering whether to purchase the album, please do all real reveille fans a favour, and dont purchase "bleed the sky" . if you didnt buy bleed the sky when it was first released, you dont deserve it. (same applies for the "laced" album)

this review wasnt meant to be useful to you, it is aimed at anybody directly affected and saddened by reveille disbanding so abrubtly, prior to the release of their third album. you cant appreciate and understand the depth of reveille by reading about them on a shopping website of all places. who the hell buys an album based on what someone else says anyway .

I really dont care if the band doesnt make another cent off album sales, you cant make music thats so meaningful and then just pack up your stuff and leave .. what about us ?

5 out of 5 stars This album is great.......2005-12-09

This album is a work of art for anyone who loves metal. I don't see how the people below me can rate this low for being unoriginal. I have hundreds of CD's, and I can't think of any other bands that are even similar to the style Reveille has. I'm a fan of all kinds of metal, except for screamo and that garbage because My Chemical Romance is a joke, and I love listening to this album. Sure it incorporates elements of rap, but it also has some great hard hitting songs for metal heads, like Bleed the Sky or Plastic. To compare these guys to Saliva shows you have little understanding of musical genre and style. If you're into metal and are looking for something new, I definitely recommend this album.

1 out of 5 stars Worthless rap-metal trash........2005-11-24

About as awesome as Saliva's first album, and about as genuine. Not a single bit of originality. Mixed some emo in, which we all love about as much as a root canal. Pathetic, droning crap which isn't worthy of the garbage compactor you will throw it in after listening.

5 out of 5 stars Bleed The Guy - by Lee Naidoo.......2005-10-02

Hey Dude Guy,I'm Back! So,?dude guy?, I see you?re adding your unwanted 2 cent comments again. You really need to grow up. What did Reveille ever do to you? Refused to sign or take a picture with you? Dissed you in public..? There are far more important issues and matters to be concerned about than ripping off a rap metal band. I am a firm believer in the freedom of expression and the basic right to voice ones own opinion, but for some reason, you really have a personal vendetta against this band. At the end of the day, it?s my word and opinion against yours. I can inform you however, that, for no matter how many times you knock Reveille down, The Reveille Army and I will always correspondingly pick them up again. Another flaw in your plan to soil the bands reputation is that you are criticizing and blasting an entire band based on the credibility of one song and not the whole album in its entirety. Granted ?What You Got? was not one of the strongest lyrical crafted songs, but a powerful song none the less, designed for a live concert/mosh pit atmosphere and maybe I?m blind, but I cannot find the references about girls panties or thongs, the dude guy made, anywhere in the song. I live and breathe heavy alternative music but I would never take it upon myself to force the music or bands I listen to upon others. (It?s the individuals? choice and right to make their own decisions and opinions about what appeals to said individual) Any self respecting rock fan will admit that the commercialization of music genres such pop and Rn?b suck, but who the hell has the right to tell someone else not to listen to Britney spears or 50 cent. CDNOW readers, you might like or dislike Reveille, which is fine, but I don?t appreciate the fact that the dude guy is blatantly trying to prevent or hinder someone else who might be interested in experiencing Reveille or giving the band a chance, so that a more individualistic and self concluded assessment can be formulated rather than reading a negative review on the on-set.
Here in my opinion are 2 of the best songs on the album:

a) ?Modified Lie? ? Track 04
?i see god in my dreams and i can't stop running
don't care what i've become but fear what i am becoming
set me straight, i'm no angel
falling apart-
she feels death from the table
waking asleep- i can't sleep yet i'm sleeping
i'm slipping again and no hope's what i'm thinking
i'm buried alive inside, so claustrophobic
nothing to say today- afraid and we know it
what do i know, i know that we know nothing
i feel like i'm constantly waiting for something
what am i waiting for, what am i trying to do?
i'm trying to prove that it's all a lie-
can't get enough and i'm already there
i'm already there and i still can't get enough
so just deny what you can't repair
between the lie, read between your lie
can't get enough and i'm already there
i'm already there and i still can't get enough
run as far as you can because nobody cares
between the lie, read between your lie
i got a little secret that i keep inside
deep down dormant in the dark she hides
but every time that i close my eyes i can feel it,
i can feel her die
maybe i'm jaded too,
maybe i'm dead like you,
maybe i'm obsolete,
maybe i'm incomplete,
maybe insanity blinded by prophecy,
maybe the opposite,
maybe i'm right
maybe a victim, maybe your not
when did you start to care about what i thought?
what would you do for me, who will you be for me,
what about family, who would you kill for me?
ammunition for a prophets gun
all that's become must unbecome
all that's sacred, all that's true,
all that's nothing-
lies in you
madness, insanity-
why do you stare through me?
finish the rest of me
see what you wanna see
say what your gonna say
give and then take away
waiting for guilt to try and read between your lie
all that's nothing lies in you-
even if you're forgiven, would you forgive yourself?
read between your lie?

See any references to thongs anywhere? Oh well lets try again shall we?
b) ?Farewell Fix? ? Track 13
?i'm sorry that i put you in the picture,
i didn't think you'd hit your head so hard
the frame looks better all crooked on the wall,
kinda reminds me of the way we are-
the way we lie and victimize ourself
now is it me or do our secrets matter more than our health?
i nail my hands down just to feel the way that he felt-
but can't scream with near enough strength to cry for help
i feel the ground give beneath my feet,
i can't handle anything that you say
and i pray that it's possible to- birth
your better off
now take my word and just walk away
but what can i say?
i love the way she hates-
i love the way she hates me
don't make a move,
i got that exit wound from pride and now i realize
don't make a move,
i got that exit wound and i've cried myself dry
no limits to pain,
i've bled for you now bleed for me-
cuz no one ever told you that it wouldn't be hard
i've got flesh full of ink just waiting to drip so come and take your best shot
you know i'll love you by dawn
after we've cum and gone over the power we chased
i think i'm way too late-
my hate's taken my place
because the only thing that ring represents these days is the mark that it left in the side of my face
for every fatal breath i've held,
for every harmful truth i've spit,
had everything i'd ever need,
and every time i'd scream myself sick
say goodbye to this drug- i've got a new soul to steal
i'm on my farewell fix-
i've got a new soul to steal?

No mention of women?s underwear again! Really dude guy it isn?t nice to fabricated stories and lie to the CDNOW community : (

Maybe we?ll hit the jackpot on the third attempt?.
c) ?Bleed The Sky? ? Track 06

?Systematically layered beneath the understated-
border land calling me home
curiosity has taken its toll
empathetic- into the darkness i fall alone
hear what you say when you whisper the truth of your lies
i wanna fly over falling stars
how i love breathing into this lifelessness
reminds me i can't paint like god

say no more-

carve me a smile, make it deep and wide and mortal
drain my eyes 'til the sky goes pop
bleeding out in my own idolatry for you
my adoration dripping drop by drop by drop
can't get enough symphony in her eyes to eden
enter me my last chance for hope
had a god but i f**ked her all away
because she couldn't feel what i wrote

say no more-
i've heard enough to know
i wanna bleed the sky
bleed the sky tonight- say goodnight tonight?

Three Strikes ?You?re out! ... I guess you perceived the lyrics differently than the rest of us.

The above three songs are basically what drives a Reveille fan like myself and others who can and have on some form or level related to what the band tried to convey across and apply those concepts to our everyday lives. So in conclusion, I say this to you dude guy?In a world of uncertainties and an unforeseen future, we are all surviving and coping the best possible way which we know how. How we deal with life differs with all sorts of people from all walks of life. What band or music sucks in your opinion is another form of solace and inspiration to another. For us, the ?Reveille Army?, will never be persuaded in betraying all that we hold and know to be true to ourselves. It?s going to take more than a single negative review to make a true Reveille fan question his/her beliefs in the band.
I hope that you find peace within yourself dude guy and let go of the hatred that you are adamantly harboring for Reveille. Mark my words; you?ll be a much happier person once you do.
P.S. GENUFLECT lives...The next chapter of Reveille. Prepare Yourself!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing, limp bizkit's got nothing on reveille.......2005-03-18

First off this cd is awesome, Anyone who compares Reveille to limp bizkit must not be hardcore into music, fred durst wishes he could pump out the vocals and have the heart Drew Simollardes has. They sound nothing a like. This band is amazing, such a positive influence to rap metal. And there not mainstream which is one more thing to love, Limp Bizkit is washed up and can't compare to this band, they sound nothing alike!! I totally recomend this.

3 out of 5 stars different but okay.......2002-08-29

it seems like a huge Limp Bizkit rip off and we all know there are too many of those. But these guys seem to put a lot of heart into it. I was a little weary of purchasing this album but after awhile I decided to just go ahead and do it. I don't regret it but some of you out there are pretty picky about your music, so watch your step.

5 out of 5 stars Yeah........2002-08-06

Reveille rules! The lead singer can rap really fast for example the hit single "What U Got." And if you listen to the last song on the album (it's like 14 minutes long)there's a hidden track that rules. It has the guys from Nullset (another cool band) and 7th Rail Crew. Buy the cd or face the consequences (my wrath).
peace out pizzeeps, hizzomeys, and tizzight pizzeople.

5 out of 5 stars Reveille Rocks!.......2002-03-24

I was turned on to this group by a DJ in San Francisco who plays alternative music late at night. I initially purchased the CD for the song "Look At Me Know," which is a great "Nu-Metal" song. However, the entire CD is extremely strong. If you like System of A Down, Linkin Park, Quarashi (which I strongly suggest you buy too!) then you will like this CD. All songs rock, and there is not a dud in the bunch. I hope this band gets more exposure because they are great!

3 out of 5 stars Revielle.......2002-02-15

hello Music Fans. Well every once and awhile a band comes along that when you firsy hear them they make your head spin. Ok so revielle may just be one of those bands. I am sure this cd will be in the "related" section with alot of other rap rock and nu metal stuff. Although their style is a little different yes you may file them under just another korn or limp bizkit rip off, But here is the kicker=============IF you a skpetic buy "laced" their first disk, Then I dare you to compare these Harvard Ma boys to anything you have heard before. yes this is a review for "blled the sky" but I urge you to buy "laced". Then go ahead and buy this album. Drew sure knows how to get peoples blood rushing and The first single off This record "What you got" will leave you feeling good knowing that "whatyou got" is a really good cd

Ive been a fan of revielle for awhile ever since there first album came out, in which they sounded like a very heavy R.A.T.M (Rage Against the Machine) with a slight religous side to it (kinda antichrist) This album is good but not as good as the first one, theres alot of catchy tunes but its more of a change from the begining, maybe better for some but its more of a Primer 55/Slaves on Dope change, which isnt nearly as bad as the change of Limp Bizkit or Staind(what the F**K were they thinking?) i got this album when released because of previous knowledge of them, but a little dissapointed at first, they still have a metal-rap to them but are more for chorus and vocals in this album. if your a fan pick it up or listen first but you shouldent be too dissapointed, and if not and are into the new sound of apartment26, Spineshank, or simular you will like this album. all in all check it out if you havent yet

2 out of 5 stars Limp bizkit wannabe's..........2004-09-19

Thats pretty much what I have to say...no future for this guys, no originality, sound really boring...
