All-Time Favorite.......2007-01-12
This album has been number one on my all-time favorites list for many, many years. Nothing can top it.
Tony Carey is so ahead of his time on this one that it's astounding. Some of the sounds are absolutely haunting, while others inspire joy and hope, while still others impart great sadness.
Pink World is a "rock opera" that tells the story of a young boy named Artemis (or Artie) who drinks some toxic water from a polluted river. He gains super-human powers and builds a "zone" (or "barrier") to shield his followers from the nuclear holocaust that occurs. His oasis proves not to be much of a sanctuary, however. He employs cameras and strict security tactics to keep his followers in check. He ends up vanishing at the end, a "little pink pool" the only trace of the once omnipotent Artemis.
Buy Pink World, you will not be disappointed.
Sounds just as great as it did 20 years ago!.......2006-03-18
I was in 10th grade when this CD came out,and I ended up wearing my brother's tape out! It is a fantastic CD, it is so great to hear it again after so long. I really like Tony Carey's voice and this CD has vocals and a beat that is so fun to sing to.
You won't regret getting it!
What a Perfect Place!.......2006-01-15
This is an amazing concept album that is worth every second of every complete listenthrough! Back in my youth this was one of those amazing albums that I would just get lost in and totally absorbed in the sweeping story and brilliant orchestration. Ok, I'll admit that I was high, but it's still brilliant! It all blends together to create an amazing post-apocalyptic vision of messiah-like little boy with amazing psychic powers, who is "just 'A Boy Who Can't Talk'(Man I love that song!.
This would make for an amazing animated movie, (I know I watched one several times on my eyelids as I listened to it). I'm in fact listening to it again as I type, I've had it on my mind for days now and finally I have the time to listen to it straight through. If you're able to find a copy (even if you have to buy one of those ancient artifacts called cassettes) this album will take you to a "Perfect Place" "Behind the Barrier" and you will hear "What I See."
Pink World - Amazing Musical Imagery.......2005-08-04
For me, I'll be honest, this is some old music, originally made in the year I was born. Thanks to a very close friend of mine I've gotten hooked to Planet P Project but most of all, Pink World.
This is an amazing masterpiece of musical imagery. It tells a story of a boy, deception, destruction and hope. Through all of these tracks it lays out an amazing story with solid morals for times past and to come. At first, trying to understand the story was difficult, but it is well worth paying close attention to. Not only is the story told amazingly this way, the music only adds to the atmosphere of what is going on.
The only thing I like just as much as this CD is another song not on this CD but I feel closely relates somehow to the story by Tony Carey, "The Red Door". For anyone who is interested in music that does more than just sound good, but tells a story as well, I highly recommend this for the newer generations or the older.
Spellbinding trip to Another World.......2005-05-10
Spellbinding is the best way to describe Pink World and Planet P. The time and effort as well as the number of reviews listed for this largely unknown album is a testament to the overwhelming power of this artwork. Pink World is like one of the stereophonic photographs that most people can't see the hidden image. But for those of us who can, it's so intoxicating you can't stop looking at it.
There are about 5 songs on here that have utterly mezmerized me for 20 years. The Stranger, The Shepherd, Letter from the Shelter, One Star Falling, and Baby's at the Door. I took these five, added in the the many captivating interludes, and combined with my favorite cuts from the original Planet P album and Blue Highway, and this collection has been in my constant rotation since I found it 20 years ago.
Among the beautiful poetry, the insight, the vivid musical landscapes, and the amazingly creative and unique music of Planet P, one thing that stands out to me is the unusual meter drumbeats. Very otherworldly! Where does he get this stuff?! Tony Carey clearly is an alien.
If you are a true believer and haven't heard it, get Blue Highway. It is the "Final Cut" of PW, and clearly Tony's third best album (I have them all).

Customer Reviews:
Alice Cooper.......2007-05-31
Alice Cooper's Brutal Planet is cutting edge Cooper. My son and I both bought a copy and we listen to it ALOT!! It is probably my favorite Cooper, I like it better than Dirty Diamonds, which was newer, but not so much the Cooper style that I enjoy so much. For the all-time Cooper fan, no collection is complete without Brutal Planet.
Raw, right between the eyes.......2007-03-10
What on earth did this come from. Like some sort of cheese off dinosaur of heavy rock, AC comes out of the 90's and into the new century like some sort of Jurassic Park denizen eating the little bands for breakfast.
While some may decry the nu-metal tinge to this album I can only applaud the desire to stay current, to take the desired pieces of modern metal and weld them to the AC shock rock template. This Bob Marlotte produced album uses lots of shiny technology to take pummeling riffery circa '00 and allowing it full partnership with Alices' vocals in the mix. And the vox here match the music, taut and delivered with real punch. Just take a listen to the title track or it's follow up - Wicked Young Man. It will give you a very good idea of what this album is about. And the lyrics are as cold as the battle hardened music, Alice really showing the young pups like Jonathon Davis how your supposed to write shock rock lyrics.
A few tunes don't quite achieve total success - Eat Some More and Pick Up the Bones may not float your boat, but such is the single mided drive of the album as a whole you can forgive the odd bit of clunkiness.
This album is Alice rejuvenated, like a guy kickstarted by a lightning bolt and he's evidently decided (as of 2000) that he has no interest in becoming a heritage act just yet and wants to continue expanding his catalogue in a meaningful way as a working rock act.
Recommended.
Classic Alice album.......2001-04-23
The sequel to The Last Temptaiton took a long time getting here. It's sci-fi theme is reflected very much in it's metalish sound. But make no mistake, it's the same music Alice has always done, just heavier. The album starts off bleak and depressing, rather typical of Alice's earlier works, but rather than the nightmares of fantasy he used to delve into, this new nightmare is all the more real. Songs about nazism and killing your school pals are just as dark as songs from Welcome To My Nightmare about deflowering the children and having sex with dead bodies. The difference being on those albums, the songs weren't nasty until you really thought about them. Here however, I can't help but feel a little uncomfortable singing along to a song about reading 'meine kampf daily just to keep my hatred fead'. Thing is, where most bands moan about the state of the world, Alice doesn't. He doesn't try to change your mind about things, or provoke a reaction, he just tells it like it is, which is what makes it so disturbing. He accepts it, never for a minute moaning about the dead children in Pick Up The Bones. It shows almost a complaicancy for death and the apocalyse, why oh why do we enjoy this stuff so much? lol. Perhaps the fact that the riffs here are more solid than anything he's done of late, and the concept of the album shines through brilliantly keeping the whole album sounding pretty much the same throughout. The only bad part I'd say is Cold Machines where Alice does foray into nu-metal territory a little and there is not one guitar solo. I think thats the only album you could describe as filler though. Other than that, every song is great, not lettin down for a second. It's just a...cool album, classic Alice has finally returned ! Top cuts - Brutal Planet, Wicked Young Man, Pick Up The Bones, Blow Me A Kiss, Take It Like A Woman, Pessi-mystic
Alice's best CD for ages!.......2000-06-25
I ordered this CD purely due to withdrawal symptoms - I had not heard a decent Alice Cooper for nearly a decade (i.e. Hey Stoopid, or maybe Trash. Classicks doesn't count). Acutally, I first heard it on Alice's official website - they have the whole title track to download in mp3 format. I was just blown away the first time I heard it! So quickly, I bought the CD, hoping that the other tracks were just as good. I put it in my stereo, and put it on, starting with track 2 as I had allready heard the first one. I could tell from the very first guitar notes that this song was going to be a good one. However, nothing could prepare me for what was to come - a thoughtful, violent song about nazis (or nazi followers, anyway), with a strong rhythm and excellent chord changes.
It seems that Cooper is tending towards more british-sounding songs. Anyone who has heard some of his latest songs (e.g. the one that was on the X-files soundtrack CD) will know what I mean. This is not a bad thing as it brings a more hard, gritty edge to the music, and makes it seem more fresh and new.
Cooper even throws in a couple of ballads, with "take it like a woman" being one of my favourite Alice Cooper songs YET. These sound great, and compliment the harder, more loud songs brilliantly.
I have introduced 2 people to Alice Cooper just by letting them listen to the title mp3 (before I bought the album) and both of them loved it. That's how good it is!
If this is the european import ( i'm not sure if it is or not) then it comes with a limited edition poster and screensaver. That is the reason I have not given it 5 stars - the screen saver is utterly pathetic, as it is just a slideshow of 3 different pictures. The poster is excellent, though.
All in all an essential purchase for Alice fans, and even for people who are interested in this type of music and want to start a decent CD collection.
Well done Alice!
Alice Cooper Brutal Planet.......2000-06-25
I loved this CD not only becasuse I am a big Alice Cooper fan, But because it is truly a work of art. Alice shows that it dosen't matter how old you are you can still rock! On this CD he dosen't have the typical Horror movie lyrics most people know him for. Instead he has made songs that talk about world hunger and everyday life. With some Alice Cooper twists of course. It has some of the same type of rock he used on the CD Hey Stoopid with a more 90's approach. A great CD that any Alice fan should own and any fan of good rock music.

What can i say?.......2004-05-28
I've only heard the track "California", first from watching the show "The O.C." and then heard it at my friend's house. Each time I hear the song it brings out these great and intense emotions like no other song really has. You can sort of picture yourself in the song as you listen to the lyrics, imagining the warm California breeze as you cruise down the 101. Melodic and amazing in general, California is a must for anyone to hear. I think it is a song that most anybody would like regardless of preferred genres.

Customer Reviews:
A grower, but a fast one.......2002-11-16
While the blurb initially appearing on Amazon.com said vocals take the center stage here, of all Puressence albums this is the LEAST focused on James Mudrizcki's tremolo vocal, which is embedded more in the mix than ever before. It strikes a more electronic and less lively tone than 1998's Only Forever, which may initially dissapoint some fans of that album. In fact, She's Gotten Over You is the only track that recalls the previous album's melodic, soaring desperation (you can almost see Mudrizcki standing on a cliff singing into a hurricane). But fear not; there is a lot going on in the other 11 (or 12 if you get the special import) tracks -- the emotional depth and musical inventiveness that you expect from Puressence are still there, and they're experimenting with new sounds -- from the New Order style drum patterns on several tracks to the harmonies and horns on How Does it Feel, to the more ambient mix on Make Time to the slow groove and kitsch Chinesey piano on the title track. When I say it's a grower, take note that nearly all of it's grown on me within 24 hours of buying it. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because it's still growing, so watch this space.

?!.......2005-04-09
i havent listened to this. i know the guys work pretty well. hes not my favorite (prefer juan atkins, mr de, keith tucker, bcalloway, D.I.E. type stuff) Never the less the guy has alot of good $hit out! I havent listened to it so why did i review it and give it 5 stars? I gave it 5 stars to help offset one of the previous reviews. Whats wrong with the review? it broke the 4 rules/laws of good reviews.
What are the 4 rules of good reviews?
1. dont give an E.P./album a bad review because its not by planetp. (and if you do, you have to write one for all compact disks sold by amazon.com that are not by planet p)
2. people who are not alert, intellegent, or literate enough to distinguish between an e.p. named PLANET E.P. by the Advent and a group named PLANET P PROJECT should not criticise anything.
3. people who do not understand how search engines work shouldnt use computers to write reviews
4. dont criticise what you dont understand.
Detroit techno is not something most people are going to get. Its pretty esoteric stuff not for the uninitiated. kind of like alot of the jazz out there. It is precise. it has balls. Its stripped down and raw. It has no unnecessary sounds, notes, or embellishments. Most of the music people are used to is overly embellished. Progressive rock (such as planet p) is known for being one of the most over embellished genres around. detroit techno at its best is drenched in soul and deep dark emotion. Progressive rock isnt a genre known for its soul. Detroit techno is.
Dark Electro..........2001-04-27
The Advent regularly put out some of the best techno/electro beats available. This EP is a little slower than some of their other work and, by their standards, may be mediocre. If you already are familiar with their sound, these tracks should suit you just fine. Otherwise, try and find their older album "Elements".
This is not Planet P.......2000-03-27
Beware, if you are looking for a Planet P fix don't buy this CD. I do not understand why this CD is listed under Planet P but it is. This CD is nothing but 5 techno dance tracks that sound nothing like Planet P or Tony Cary.
