Over and over..........2007-06-27
Showing quite a bit of variety musically and lyrically, this is a creative, original and interesting album. There's a lot to like. I've listened to it over and over.
Another stunner from Saga.......2007-06-19
Possibly the best Saga album of the post Worlds Apart years - an inspired, consistent piece of work, elevating them to the status of prog masters. The classic Saga sound is all there, the dramatic vocals, the elegant guitar riffs, the keys/drums/guitar speed runs, the changing keys, tempos and atmospheres. Just for the two masterpieces, Ashes To Ashes and Once In A Lifetime it is worth getting the CD. The openers God Knows and The Runaway are superb neo-prog rockers bristling with energy and overflowing with creativity set the mood for what's to come. The album just keeps on cooking and serving up surprises all the way to the chop-zilla showstopper of the album, We'll Meet Again, another great Chapter song. Just when you think a song drags a bit, they deliver a killer chorus or a meter-defying instrumental bridge. There is even an instrumental - a kind of a piano interlude, rare on Saga albums. Technically probably the most complex and tight playing ever recorded by Saga. Production is superb, maintaining the atmosphere, clarity and balance of instruments and vocals. I've said it before and I'll say it again - Saga once again finds itself back on the trail which Genesis, Rush and Yes left and got lost!

This is one of their best works. I have most everything they have done and song for song this album ROCKS. Want to get your feet wet and try Saga for the first time? Start here.
Rather poor.......2005-02-05
I am indeed a Saga fan, but this album is very poor. I could only find 2 songs I liked ("That's how we like it" and "We'll meet again"). The rest of the songs simply show extremely poor composition and a severe lack of inovation, which is what progressive rock is supposed to be all about.
There simply is no substitute for "Worlds Apart" and "Heads or Tails" as far as Saga goes.
Excellent album reminiscent of Worlds Apart.......2004-04-02
I can't understand why these guys are not more popular here in the states. The music on House is their tightest and most progresive while very listenable and well-developed as they always have been but since they are probably all in their fifties they still rock nonetheless. My favorite tracks are Runaway and Ashes to Ashes as they remind me most of the aforementioned early '80s disc. All of the original members are here with Ian (guitar) Chricton taking center stage on most of the tracks. He seems to have gotten some lessons from Steve Morse or Al di Meola since Full Circle. Steve Negus' drumming seems unimpressive albeit steady as I do miss the electronic drums from Worlds and Heads or Tales; OK, so I am lost in the '80s. Even if you are a marginal fan, this is a must-have as this band is one of the more listenable prog. bands to have ever come out. I don't get tired of listening to it. I guess we can learn something from the Germans who appreciate a good Canadian band, eh? Oh yeah, and what's the deal with the cover?

Back in full form.......2001-04-28
Made in GER in 2001, Serial# SPV-088-72160, Playing Time 49:56
This special limited edition presents this Canadian band's 17th album in a "booklet" format the size of a regular jewel case (similar to the "Back To Black Collection" series, but not in a black cover). This 28-page full colour booklet includes the lyrics.
This album is a logical follow-up to their previous studio album, "Full Circle": the recognizable voice of Sadler, the incisive guitar work, and the thick keyboard textures are all here. Many have praised the "FC" album because of the fact that SAGA went "back to the well" of their first albums, and "HOC" is no different; I even found it better balanced than "FC".
Great sounds, rich textures, "true" SAGA; however, I'm still a bit hungry for some instrumental passages that were often present in the early days, somewhat of a progressive touch. An enjoyable album, but mainly too song-based, too radio-friendly.

Saga's Back !.......2003-10-02
After hearing Saga's return to form CD,"Full Circle" & loved it,I thought the next one would be as good or a little better, but I was wrong ,this is a lot better, better hooks ,better production ,better feel. They have deftly created their best work since "World's Apart".The mix of prog & tasteful pop sensibilities is sooooo well done.I have been a fan of Saga since the 1st album in 1978,& I guarantee you if you are a Saga fan this experience will be pure joy !I listened to it 3 times in a row & that rarely happens-very special indeed !

Michael Peloquin Blasts!!!!.......2002-11-29
Long-time Bay area sideman Michael Peloquin steps out into the limelight on this, his debut solo CD. Featuring a cast of some of San Francisco's to musicians, including Tommy Castro and Stve Freund, Peloquin absolutely blows the listener away with amazingly tight horn arrangements and a blistering hot rhythm section.
Peloquin shows us unequivacobly that he can sing as well as he plays sax and harmonica. He never overdoes it and any of the songs. The songwriting is worthy of any of the great R&B masters. If you haven't had the chance to tune into Michael Peloquin yet, I definitely suggest that you give this CD a listen.
Oh My Oh My - What a disc!.......2002-05-19
This is a such a good disk I do not know where to begin other than this disk has been played nearly everyday for the past four months. The only other recordings to have this distinction are Miles' Kind of Blue and Coltrane's A Love Supreme.
This recording shows why Michael is considered one of the top harmonica players in the world today. Michael Peloquin's harp technique and musicianship is rivaled by maybe one other harmonica player in the history of the instrument. This guy is definately one of my favorites and that's only part of what he does....his song writing, vocals and sax playing is equally stellar.
From funk to deeply moving blues this disk has it all and I after months of owning this disk I STILL get goosebumps everytime I have it on.
Michael, you simply rock!
As any clown will plainly be able to discern,.......2002-04-21
you do not have to be a 20 year veteran San Francisco Bay area
music scene to able tell Michael"Grumpy"Peloquins planet is far
from flat. It's well rounded and filled with intelligent life.
You'll be getting out the "air harmonica" after the first tune.
Don't let the cover mislead you.......2002-04-20
This is a fine, fine collection tunes by one San Francisco's
premier musicians. Michael"Grumpy" Peloquin is a player whose experience shows. I enjoyed his first solo effort throughly.
Rare skills are on display.
This is a must have........2002-04-12
This CD is a tasty combination of all of Michaels abilities as a
writer, arranger, player and vocalist. His 20 plus years of experience in R&B meld into a CD where every track is fresh, different and exciting.
His harmonica playing especially sets him apart. One listen and you'll see why he earned the title of Hohner World Champion in 1997. Combining a very advanced technique called overblowing, he takes the instrument to new heights.
I would urge everyone to make this CD a part of their collection.
It is always on the top of mine.
