In preparing for a recent long drive in my car, I began assembling some cd's that I hadn't listened to in a while. This was one of them.
It remained untouched until the return trip, and when it finally made it into the cd player, it remained for the rest of the trip and is still there three days later.
What a marvelous representation of what must have been a terific show. From the first song, "Wait" (Wait 'til We Get Home - from the first album), to the last, a rendition of Lou Reed's "Sweet Jane", this is a raucous, thoughtful, sweet, and uplifting concert. My only wish is that I had actually been there.
Great stuff and perfect for a road trip!!

    I think I remember this VERY show that was recorded in 1975 showing up on the long-gone but not forgotten weekly broadcast of the King Biscuit Flower Hour.So nice to to be able to own a copy on CD.Features,of course the original line-up of Trower on guitar,Jimmy Dewar on bass/vocals and Bill Lordan on drums.One track on this disc that I simply don't remember but really liked is "Alethea".Also "Twice Removed From Yesterday" is great to hear as so is "Bridge Of Sighs" and "Day Of The Eagle".Today,Trower still tours and records regularly.I've seen him live once and the man can still deliver the goods.Great timeless '70's rock&roll.

    Please Please guys listen to Pat..THE underated guitarist of the the last 20 years..you like Marino,Nugent,Trower,Page..then give Travers a listen..the ferocity of Snortin Whiskey after 20 yrs nearly is audible and Life in London is so memorable and sad.
    Be wise...start collecting Pat Travers!!

      Although this live recording doesn't do as much justice as it could (ever heard that before?), Lone Star were a superb band who achieved power, imagry and emotion on both their albums, 'Lone Sar' and 'Firing on all six' and most of this is in evidence on 'In Concert'. They did unfortunately occur at a time where fashion ignored them but as we become more retrospective by the generation, perhaps they will now be recognised as a band that could have developed to champion the heavy rock genre as others fell by the wayside. To hear is to believe and this reviewer strongly recommends that you do both, not least to the studio albums - they certainly rest in my top ten.

          I have to agree with the reviewer from California who gave this disc one star. I LOVE Be Bop Deluxe, even saw them live on the Drastic Plastic tour (great show!!). But their music, performed live, just sounds "flat" when transferred to tape/disc. I had the "Live in the Air Age" album when it first came out (white vinyl, too!!) and it left me cold. I hardly ever listened to it. I've picked up all of the live BBD stuff since then and it doesn't do it for me. It just loses something without that bit of studio flavoring and sweetening that makes their albums such a joy to listen to.

          Griffin Music has just a issued a real treasure... a massive 77 mins.(approx) of Bill Nelson's former rocketship Be Bop Deluxe.
          Radioland:BBC Live In Concert is all unreleased live stuff recorded at Be Bop's height from `76-'78. 16 beauties explain
          why this band is so fondly remembered and why Bill made a name for himself as a git hero... whether he likes it or not! `94

          I was a BBD fan in the '70s and rediscovered Nelson a few years ago. Owned quintessential "Live in the Air Age" since it's release and kept passing on "BBC Radio 1 Live"... However, this is a pretty good live representation. The production isn't as clean as "Air Age" but gives the raw essence of a BBD concert. The mix pulls forward other band talents as well. This is a must for any BBD/Nelson fan.

          Be Bop Deluxe's Live! in the Air Age! is a definitive (and strong) live record of the band's history through Sunburst Finish. This second live set, Radioland, provides an interesting contrast. These live tracks, recorded by the BBC in three bursts from 1976-1978, lack the more refined production values and sense of guitar heroism that the Air Age album exudes. Instead, Be Bop Deluxe seems much more down to earth, less a prog band mired in 70s near-cinematic production values, and more a "real live" rock band covering a generous cross-section of an interesting set of songs spanning the band's history. We hear "Third Floor Heaven" from the "Axe Victim" album, rendered with gusto. "Islands of the Dead" and a suite of "Modern Music" songs illustrate the pop sensibility that was then a large part of Nelson's songwriting. "Adventures in a Yorkshire Landscape" is, as in the Air Age album, a guitarplay centerpiece, but this time the solos give less the impression of soaring glissandi than of Hendrix-inspired haze. It's curious to hear Nelson spend several songs jumping between rhythm work and the trademark lead extravaganzas upon which his guitar hero reputation was made, and easy to understand why this band really needed a rhythm guitarist as it evolved. This is a much less varnished version of the band's key songs, very human, very live, and certainly worth owning. The six Drastic Plastic songs alone are worth the price of virtual admission....

          It is well documented that the thin murky production on this infuriated the band upon this disc's release, and they were right to be angry. It almost seems like a cheap attempt to cash in on RAW MELODY MEN. If you can muddle through the bad sound, it's easy to see that this is not because of the band's performance: NMA are as tight as ever, and the quality of the music itself isn't lacking.

          This one, like the previous review says, is only for the collector, mainly for the live tracks here that do not appear on RAW MELODY MEN. Those looking for live NMA would do much much better to start with ...& NOBODY ELSE, and then go to RAW MELODY MEN.
