The first of three albums, this one is a little raw but still delivers an authentic dub sound. No samples used in this album folks, just pure music. This album is hard to come by so try Legend of the Four Tailed Scorpion or Megaton Shotblast if you cant find this one cheap. Those expecting ATDI or TMV will be suprised at how methodic De Facto is. It is quite a unique sound. Similer to certain Hendrix or perhaps Los Lobos at times. Though it is hard to compare this to other outings by Omar Rodriguez Lopez, Cedric Bixler Zivalas, and the late Jeremy Ward, De Facto has that El paso based flavor. Throw in Isaiah "Ikey" Owens from the Long Beach Dub All-STARS, its make for an interesting album to say the least. Also look for Moros Eros, Queens of The Stone Age, Modest Mouse for similer music exploration.

5 out of 5 stars pretty bomb.......2005-12-17

I love this album, just like every other tmv, atd-i, long beach dub, and other solo music from these people. I just want to say that the guy below my comment has good insight, but can't spell and is stupid because atd-i isn't emo, it's hardcore with a little style. Well, anyways, great album, pretty jamable, and i love the dub.

5 out of 5 stars Some would call it noise........2004-10-17

De Facto is quite an inivaitive band. Sedric, Omer, and Ike From The Mars Volta are the core band with Jaermy Ward piling on all the strange affects. Sedric Bixler (Who sings for Mars Volta) plays drums for De Facto, Omer RodRegez (who plays guitar for The Mars Volta) can be heard provideing the bass line in De Facto, and Ike Oaens plays keyboards in both bands. This album is a beautiful blend of AvontGuard music and dub music intersperced amung eary spacey sounds that glied and sworl over the compisissions creating quite an odd texture. Their sound is honestly quite hard to place in any catigory. While the drums and bass take on a dub feal you can't ignore the keyboard emiting it's spacey tunes. Nor can you over look the affects that are used on the instraments. There are no samples on this album. It's all real instrmentation but as I menchoned above Jaermy Ward is there to reverberate, distort, wa, and put echos under the music. While some would call it noise, I call it art. If you listen you can hear that amung the noises the songs and-or jams do run a course and the musicians are profissiont at what they do. All in all this album provides you with some interesting music that is good in the background or under headphones in a dark room. I recommend the second method so that you can hear all the cool noises and capture the album in all it's glory. Music today needs a revolution and De facto and The Mars volta are creating the sparks. We need more fule for the fire though. I recommend This band's three albums plus The Mars Volta's EP and Full Length; they are about to reliece a new full length album. Don't bother with at The Drive-in, all their music was original but not that good and it paved the way for more emo music and emo music sucks. Don't listen to Clevercarate he couldn't stand his precious emo rock world being shaken by the break away of Sedric and Omer in to the relms of the strange (as far as music is conserned.) I love this album and recommend it to anyone looking fore good and intoresting music now a days. While the fire is being startted TMV and De Facto are recommended as well as Gordian Knot, Tangent, Ozric Tentacles, Oysterhead, and more. Oh and don't forget classic rock!

5 out of 5 stars Great cd.......2004-08-19

This cd is great. who cares if omar and cedric were in at the drive in and this doesn't sound like at th the drive in. Omar and cedric don't have to make the same music in all thier bands, the ppl who said this cd sucks r most likely the ppl who hate mars volta and now listen to sparta. Omar and Cedric r a few of the very few ppl making good music now a days.

5 out of 5 stars Good Music.......2003-05-22

Don't listen to the guy above, he was keeping a narrow mind expecting another At The Drive-In, which isn't the case. De Facto are a very good dub band, it's very good background music as well if you're doing homework or eating dinner or what ever. Nice blend of Reggae, Salsa, Latin-Dub I really enjoy listing to it and I would recommend it to anyone with an open mind for new exciting music.
