Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars My favorite album of all time.......2007-06-15

I first heard this album when I was in the Air Force stationed in the Netherlands in the mid 80's. Some of the guys I was stationed with were listening to it and thought it was great. I went out and bought it because I liked the song 'Up the Down Escalator'. Slowly over time I listened to more and more songs on the album until I got to the point where I liked every song on it. There is no other album I own where I listen to the whole thing on a regular basis. I just can't tell you how much I love this album.

I decided to write this review after reading the other reviews posted here. I knew I loved it but didn't know anyone else who even knew who this band was. It made me feel good to know that there were other people out there who feel the same as I do. If I was going to be stranded on a deserted island and could only bring one cd with me, this would be the one.

5 out of 5 stars Genius, Post Punk Genius.......2007-06-09

I'm thrilled to see every review for this album at 5 stars... and here I've walked around for years thinking myself and small group of friends were the only ones to know.

Joy Division may have started the genre, this band took it to extraordinary levels. As previously mentioned, easily the most underrated band of all time.

Listen to the vocal phrasings by Mark Burgess. Most musicians have one hook, be it vocal or instrumental, per song (often times one per album), - Burgess ,on the other hand, drops one achingly memorable phrase after another over the reverb drenched repeating guitar lines of his mates. Unbelievable.

Not surprising, The Edge was in attendance at many early shows (Steve Lilywhite, engineer on early U2 albums also engineered/produced tracks for the Chameleons on their 'Fan and the Bellows' release). Someone mentioned Interpol... the first time I heard Interpol's debut I thought "that cat's been listening to the Chameleons".

Second Skin is genius at work, absolute genius.

5 out of 5 stars incredible.......2007-05-17

I was looking for this record (glorious, but not easy to find for 80s addicted) since years... and finally I found it. A miliar stone for 80s music lovers.

5 out of 5 stars I've owned this album 4 times.......2006-08-25

I keep misplacing it... a friend borrows and doesn't return it maybe? Point is, I always REPLACE it. I bought the album when it came out and I think it is still resting someone in my folk's attic and I miss it! Everything about the album is right. The changes in the songs are what really get me. Second Skin evokes such a mood and makes me cry EVERY single time I hear it.

5 out of 5 stars Most underated album of all time???.......2006-05-18

This could be it folks. The number one most underated album of all time!!! Every great thing that has been said about this album in the above reviews is true. If you're a fan of Joy Division, Interpol, Editors, Ride, Stone Roses, The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, U2 etc. etc. you must do yourself a favor and buy this album. By the way the Chameleons released an album in 2000 or 2001???
They are still going!!! Wow. One more time...BUY THIS RECORD!!!
