Editorial Reviews
Product Description
'Simply Acoustic' was a benefit concert for Assist Ministries recorded at Calvary Chapel in California during Rick's Simply Acoustic tour. Rick played the grand piano & expected an audience of 3,500 but 8,000 turned up! The result was that the concert had to be filmed so that it could be relayed to a neighboring building where the overflow of fans were accommodated. The CD contains stories that Rick tells between pieces that are nothing short of hilarious. The pieces from his musical history include 'Morning Has Broken', 'Space Oddity'/Life On Mars' as well as some truly virtuoso playing on some classical pieces taken from his highly acclaimed 'Heritage Suite'. 2001 release.

Album Description
Two guys playing acoustic instruments (guitar and piano) fast with the occasional ballad thrown in. We call it "Speedwood," others have called it "acoustic thrash." Fourteen songs about the love of God in Christ. THIS is a concept album: Be Not Afraid to Cling to The Cross. The bonus track, "Lions," is the song that won the 1998 John Lennon Songwriting Contest Gospel Catagory Grand Prize.
Customer Reviews:
A few I was looking for; the rest not to my taste.......2006-02-06
I was looking for a few specific tracks (Baby, Lions, Slide Girl) which I'd heard elsewhere, and which get a good 4.5 (I'm less a fan of Lost And Found's style than their songs). I wasn't overly impressed by the rest of the songs on the CD.
Lots of their more entheusiastic songs.......2005-12-25
This is a good cd by Lost and Found. It is a bit lacking in the slow, sad song department, but nonetheless it is very good. This is also their most popular album, probably because it has a lot of their popular, loud entheusiastic songs (Lions, Be Not Afraid, New Creation, etc.), which, while I love them, are not my favorite part of Lost and Found. Don't get me wrong, I would gladly choose to listen to this over any cd not by Lost and Found, but there are other Lost and Found cds I would pick over this one (notable the Speedwood series). If you're new to Lost and Found, I would definitely reccomend that you get this one and one of their Speedwood cds to start out with.
Unfortunately, the theme song for this cd is Remember Me, which has one line which repeats over and over. I'm not a big fan of songs with one or two lines (I don't really like Everybody Matters on Something Different for the same reason), so the fact that they play the tune over and over is kind of annoying.
Great Music, Great Message.......2004-10-23
I have to admit that I've been a fan of Michael and George since I first saw them at the 2000 ELCA Youth Gathering. I immediately fell in love with their music and message. The whole youth group liked them. I am one of their numerous #1 fans.
THIS is a great CD. The only song that does not have a religious message is "I Liked You More." It is a song about a guy who sees a girl who he is no longer dating now. However, even these songs help people relate to them. It shows they know what life is like. There are a few songs like this and just a few silly songs as well.
The best way to expecience Lost And Found is in concert. However, if you want to find out about them, and just start listening to their music, THIS, is the best CD to get.
Yes, they are supposed to sound like that. If you don't like the CD at first, listen to it again. These songs will grow on you. Lots of times you have to find that one song you really like, and then you'll start to like the others.
All of their songs make great sing along songs, too. Kids love them, adults love them, and they have the best message: "God spoke a word of love whose name is Jesus."
Awesome!!.......2004-09-24
These guys rock! These guys have a wide range of music talent and the songs that they have written really magnify their ability. Unlike many other artists they have a very fresh sound that gets exemplified by being able to one minute be playing an off-the-wall fast song and in the next minute be playing an emotionally charged slow song. This is the real deal.
"This" is a mighty fine CD.......2004-06-29
Lost and Found sounds like nothing else I have ever heard. In the midst of the endless sea of over-produced, hyper-commercialized "popular" Christian music and the recent trend of artists jumping on the praise and worship bandwagon with its "7/11" songs, L&F is a refreshing change. I love the depth and poetic nature of many of their lyrics; songs that speak not only of our passion for God but also embrace and proclaim timeless truths and doctrines...not that every L&F song is serious...many of them are just fun! Their music has a raw, unrefined edge to it...and it is so original in style: most of the time just an acoustic guitar and piano played in their signature "speedwood" style.
Of the four L&F CD's I've seen available on Amazon, "This" is probably my 2nd favorite. One interesting feature is that following every song there is a varying tag of "Remember Me". My favorite songs are "Remember Me", "He's a Friend", "Harken", "Must Be", and "Cling to the Cross." Two of their most popular songs are the last two tracks on this CD: "Baby" and "Lions".
"This" is a great start to L&F if you're a new listener, and a must have if you've enjoyed their other work. If you've only seen them in concert, it's a little different than their recorded work...not bad...just different. If you've never seem L&F in concert, you really should...they're great...and no two shows are the same!

One man band!.......2005-11-02
I first heard James' music in 1999, when I was introduced to it by my boyfriend, who had known James and seen him play around the central California region in the 70's. It wasn't long before I was hooked.
This CD is something akin to sitting in on a master class, especially if you're a musician or ever hope to be one. Having seen James live on several occasions, I can tell you this CD comes as close as any recording could to capturing the complexity, the nuance, and the intimacies that James casts upon anyone fortunate enough to have heard him in person. He possesses a personal charisma and depth that are allowed to shine here, as it is simply the man and his guitar.
His guitar playing is utterly unique. I've never heard another like him. He voices chords much like I've always thought James Taylor did--more like a piano than a guitar. But James' style is uniquely his own; full and rich and rhythmic...even orchestral. He just doesn't need a band, because all of the necessary elements are there in his fingertips.
Then there is his voice. Delicate and subtle, he can also cut right through you and make you like it. He can damage you and heal you. He can hang a note on a cloud and you just want to go there with it. Mostly, you just shake your head and ask yourself "How'd he do that?"
If this is all sounding a bit too visceral, all I can say is you just have to hear it for yourself. Then you will be, like so many others who have heard him, another fan of this extraordinarily gifted man.
Understated Out of the Box.......2005-06-04
Check out James Lee Stanley's collaboration with John Batdorf on an acoustic compilation of Rolling Stones songs entitled "All Wood And Stones." 'Just Vocals and guitar, with rythmic strumming creating the sole persussive effects -- beautiful work (available on Amazon).
One of the best acoustic albums ever.......2004-04-23
This is a remarkable album...Probably the best singer/guitarist you never heard of.
One of the best acoustic albums ever.......2004-04-23
This is a remarkable album...Probably the best singer/guitarist you never heard of.
Great "back to basics".......2002-03-18
Like a lot of his fans, I heard of James Lee Stanley through his long time friend, Peter Tork. When I heard that ex-Monkee, Peter Tork, was still playing after thirty years, I decided to check out his current musical act with Stanley. Although I really went to see Tork, I was blown away by his musical partner, Stanley. This led me to purchase this CD.
As so much contemporary pop/rock is doctored by electronic studio wizardy, we sometimes forget how wonderful it is to hear great singing to pretty melodies. "Freelance Human Being" allows us to remember. The CD is Stanley singing original (mostly love) songs accompanied only by his acoustic guitar. The result is some beautiful, albeit not ground breaking, music. You will find yourself singing along in no time. Great "rainy day" music! James Lee Stanley's music should be more widely heard.

Product Description
Pronto includes 12 songs and a video. The video was filmed on tour in Germany in the summer of 2004. Two new recordings of older songs are also included on Pronto: Lions and Baby. We realized that these songs, often requested at our concerts, were only available in an experimental form (with drums and bass) on our CD This. So, we thought we should make a version, pronto, with just guitar and our voices, like one might hear in a concert. The new songs have been well received at concerts so far, and we are very eager for you to hear them, and Pronto. Some of the styles will sound like a bit of a departure for us, but for the most part Pronto is the usual unusual LOST AND FOUND style. Pronto is a return to our "concept" CD's. That is, there are 12 songs played once, and one song that comes back to haunt the listener ten times. One person who already heard Pronto said it reminded him of something.
Customer Reviews:
Great new cd, better than Something Different.......2006-06-08
Pronto is rather different from Lost and Found's other albums. It seems more mellow. Lost of really good new songs, as well as a new version of Easy Love. The "theme song" of the album is Have Love, which is a very good song. If you like Lost and Found's mellower stuff, I recommend getting this cd.
Overall grade: A
AWESOME.......2005-09-24
Okay, these guys are just awesome. I have their other cd, "THIS", and it's brilliant. I suggest you buy this CD, it's awesome, and it has messages that anyone can see. God loves you and I, and that he's always with us... The usual, but it's just good music.

Album Description
LOST AND FOUND recorded their latest project in their usual stripped-down style: two voices, one guitar, and one piano. Then they recorded the same nine new songs again using guitar, piano, two voices plus drums, bass, musical power horn and whatever else that was available. There are 18 tracks on the CD in all.
The songwriting is classic LOST AND FOUND. Relevant and Biblical. Clever and catchy. And it ranges from touching (Your Memory) to anthemic (Everybody in the Whole World Matters) to funny (Saskatchewan).
The sound changes on the second versions of the nine songs, but the message remains the same; God has spoken a Word of love whose name is Jesus. LOST AND FOUND is something different, and their CD is Something Different.
Customer Reviews:
My least favorite Lost and Found cd.......2005-12-25
But it still gets 4 stars. Honestly, I think the plain old speedwood versions of the songs are way better, with the sole exception of Can't Take Away. The rest of the songs just seem weird played with electric instuments, and the drums just make it seem like it isn't Lost and Found.
I would still definitely reccomend this album, but only after getting the Speedwood albuls, Something, etc, all of which were 5 stars in my book. Then again, I don't like most music with drums and electic instruments, so if you do, maybe you will like them on this cd. Either way, just the speedwood versions are well worth getting the cd for, and I also love the last hidden track (1980).
Something Different.......2004-10-23
SOMETHING DIFFERENT is an album answering the question "what if Lost And Found recorded with other instruments?"
So, Lost And Found offers their orignal sound (which I prefer) on the first nine tracks. Then, on the next nine, they have other instruments added. I like this, too, but I prefer traditional speedwood.
After the eighteenth song, wait and there will be a Bluegrass version of "Multiply" and if you wait after that, there will be a song called "1980" that Lost And Found did not write - but was written by a guy who was writing down thoughts as he reads the newspaper. It sounds like a sarcastic in-your-face, "we're America, and we can do what we want" piece of music. I think Lost And Found sang it just because it is sarcastic and they enjoyed playing it.
I love the fact that Saskatchewan is included. The one song I sometimes do not listen to is "Your Memory." I really like the song, but it can make me sad and it really makes my sister sad. It is about remembering loved ones who have passed on. It is extremely important to my life because I was just getting over the death of a good friend when I actually got to sit and listen to the song (I didn't own the CD yet and was listening to a friend's copy).
If you like Lost And Found's traditional style, but want these songs, just stop the CD after the first nine tracks. If you'd like to hear what Lost And Found would sound like with a full band, get this CD and listen to the last nine tracks.
Then you can decide if you prefer listening to the first half or second half or like both equally well.
Always "Something Different" with L&F.......2004-06-29
Lost and Found sounds like nothing else I have ever heard. In the midst of the endless sea of over-produced, hyper-commercialized "popular" Christian music and the recent trend of artists jumping on the praise and worship bandwagon with its "7/11" songs, L&F is a refreshing change. I love the depth and poetic nature of many of their lyrics; songs that speak not only of our passion for God but also embrace and proclaim timeless truths and doctrines...often pulled directly from the Word...not that every L&F song is serious...many of them are just fun! Their music has a raw, unrefined edge to it...and it is so original in style: most of the time just an acoustic guitar and piano played in their signature "speedwood" style.
"Something Different" really is something else. As you've probably gleaned from other reviews it's a part a / part b CD. Part A includes 9 songs in the typical "like nothing else I have ever heard" style: speedwood (piano, guitar, and the occasional additional instrument). Part B is the same 9 songs but done in a more produced, studio sound (for some reason whenever I listen to Part B I think of late 90's REM...but then when the vocals start I remember it's Lost and Found).
As far as the lyrical content of the CD, "Something Different" is yet another fine installment by L&F. Of the 9 songs, only "Your Memory" gets skipped when my wife and I are listening to the CD (we just don't get this song). I think that anybody who can make me want to sing along with a song about a Canadian province (Saskatchewan) must be a fairly gifted writer. "Raise Him Up", "Multiply" and "Remember" could each be used in a P&W setting. The electric version of "Multiply" is kinda flat but is easily made up for with a third version...bluegrass...which is mighty nice (track 19). The final song on the cd (track 20) is a hyper-sarcastic-patriotic-in-your-face-we're-America-and-we-can-trash-the-planet-if-we-want-to diddy, "this is America, love it or leave it." I'm pretty sure it's meant facetiously...I hope...
"Something Different" is the latest, greatest installment from L&F...and is a must have for any fan.
What could have been...........2003-10-01
You know, when I first heard of this album, I couldn't wait to hear the added-to versions with other instruments and artists. I was incredibly surprised to hear that they were still better raw and un-touched. That said, the new versions are still incredible, but nothing to the "Lost and Found" versions. This is an excellent album by and excellent group, see a concert if you ever get the chance! They are as good as on the cd and hilarious in-between songs! Stein Auf
It's always something different.......2003-05-22
Lost and Found has done it again. This album is great for all the right reasons. If you have never heard them perform, then you don't know what to expect. Purchase this album anyway! There is a reason that this song writing/playing duo consistently receives 5 star ratings on Amazon, they maintain artistic and theological integrity by not bowing to corporate producers. This is playful music with an intense message, but this particular album is even more intriguing than their previous releases because it offers us an insight into their other sound.
Michael Bridges and George Baum's previous recordings have always centered on their message, leaving their music well played, but still raw from a production format. Some listeners have viewed this a s a plus, others a minus. This time they have given us both, there are 9 songs on this CD, each offered twice. The first time through, it's the same Lost and Found that we have come to know and love. they play just like they're in concert, straight through with no studio reworking. The second time through, they offer the same songs reworked with more musicians, different instrumentation... the works. This is their "what if..." album, but like their previous recordings, it is also "Something Different."
