Customer Reviews:
mediocre effort.......2007-06-10
if you're a metal fan looking for the hard edge sound of the cult (electric album) or if you're an indie fan looking for innovation in their music... you would hate it.
if you need something to fill in the spaces between songs you like on a compilation CD, this is it. It will make your other songs stand out in contrast. Don't get me wrong, this is not a poorly produced album. The songs are well arranged and there are some clever guitar polyrythmn bits. But other than that, the songs are just mediocre. Nothing you'd scream about.
I'm thankful to have only gotten away with spending 70 cents on the album but sore about the postage of 3 dollars. You'd think having members from all these bands like the alarm, cult and mission, you'd get something really outstanding but sadly it falls short of their former glories.
Coloursound is great.......2004-06-05
This cd is great! The mix of Duffy/Peters is awesome. I wish I would've gotten it years ago when it came out. It is definately worth buying for any Cult fan.
Superb!.......2002-12-02
What a brilliant album!Even years now after its release I still enjoy it and believe it's a fine, refreshing cd.
Of course this album sounds a lot like THE CULT(the band but mostly the album THE CULT) probably because it is the same line-up-except for Ian Astbury.
At first I was comparing the two albums, missing the magnificient voice of Astbury, but after a couple of listenings I realised this album wasn't a copy or an under-cult cd, Coloursound is a real band with great songs and melodies.Mike Peeters-who at first I thought sounded a lot like Bono-is a very talented artist expressing a lot of feelings-check out his work on solo or with THE ALARM.
The songs are very melodic and profound, the sound is amazing and the production so rich you discover something new every time you play the cd.
I was expecting something heavier from BILLY DUFFY, but in the end this album is great as it is!
Coloursound rocks where The Cult left off.......2001-06-20
Billy Duffy's screaming guitar is back. Working with Mike Peters and Scott Garret has created a sound similar to The Cult. In some aspects I think Mike sounds a bit like Ian. I find this CD to be a must have addition to any true Cult fan. As to the similarities to the Alarm, I can not comment as my knowledge is limited. This album sounds cleaner than the last few Cult albums so it might get a better review from the critics and receive stronger retail success. I hope it comes out soon in the U.S. so more people can enjoy it and find out about it Soon! Hurry up and order yours today before they are going for hundreds of dollars on EBAY!
Could use a better mix, but great 90's 80's Hybrid.......2000-06-23
Duffy and Peters meet and dominate the guitar/melodic sound lost in today's market.
For Cult fans, this may just be a tease but after several listens you realize why you loved that band so much. Billy's guitar shines on several of the tracks and their is even a nod to Love Removal Machine during a guitar solo.
This cd has the sound reminiscent of the 80's alt scene but with a very 90's twist added. Don't get me wrong, this cd has a great modern sound but they never lose their root's in the process.
My only fault with this cd is mix. A few moments lose their crunch because of the mix. They could also have not lost too much by throwing out the "View From A Different Window" track.
This is a great cd and a must for any Cult, Alarm or even Mission fans.

Customer Reviews:
The Cult with much stronger vocals.......2003-02-14
I bought this one off of thealarm.com. It took a few listens since it doesnt have an over-produced catchyness to it but wow what an incredible album. Hard rock with Mike Peters voice featured much stronger in the mix than Ian's voice in Cult albums. Its very raw but fantastic. Best songs are Under the Sun, Fountainhead, and Everything is Here. I had never heard a single Cult song and I was a huge Alarm fan before hearing this album. Now I own every Cult album too. The acoustic disc of the set stinks.
