5 out of 5 stars Could have been a lost 'Beatles' album.......2001-05-26

This is a great album if you dug, or as in my case...still dig, the Mersey sound. Very 'Beatlish' in sound and style from their "I Saw Her Standing There", "Hold Me Tight", "From Me To You" period. You'll hear influences from these and other Beatles songs. Listening to this reminded me of how excited I used to get in the mid-sixties with the impending release of each new Beatles single. There is some nice cheesy Farfisa organ on the title track and one other track reminds me of a 'Shadows' insrumental...but basically, this sound is right out of the Cavern Club and could almost pass for a 'lost' early album by the Fab Four. This rocks! Grab it if you can.

5 out of 5 stars I liked this CD because of the songwriting and production........1999-02-24

The Kaisers' latest CD, "Wishing Street", is their best so far. The songs are well written and the excellent production faithfully recreates the sound of the British Invasion era. Their singing style is influenced by the Beatles and the Searchers, but doesn't mindlessly mimic the sounds of those bands. "Wishing Street" provides a refreshing, exciting, and thoroughly pleasurable listening experience.

Album Description

Wishing Street is a "stripped down" sounding Cd. It represents a true example of Ian Charles' Folk/Country "Americana" influences that has always been part of his best songwriting.Featuring Ian Charles on Acoustic Guitars and Vocal Backed by a Rhythm section of Electric Guitars, Upright and Electric Bass, Drums and Percussion, Piano,Organ, and Backing vocals Bringing to the forefront the Warm, Soulful Vocal and Lyrics. Produced by Crit Harmon who previously has worked with Martin Sexton and Mary Gauthier among several others. Bringing out a set of songs and stories unique, but, familiar to the listener.

5 out of 5 stars A timeless set of songs at a perfect length..........2003-11-23

Dag! I love this CD. This guy is on the mark from start to finish. I seems as though it was laid out like an album used to be. You know, 20+ minutes per side and a beginning, middle and finale.
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent! What else is there to say.
A definite timeless CD. You will love to listen to this for years to come.

5 out of 5 stars This is absolutely a modern classic..........2000-09-25

This Cd pours out so much emotion. It is filled with an energy and class that is lost in many other Alt-Country recordings. It has enough twang to satisfy the Country fan for sure. But, it also has a kind of "Soul" music back rhythm. His voice is incredible. It gracefully flows along from song to song. There's Country, Soul, Folk, Gospel, and Rock-n-Roll here. All of these are evident in the songwriting but, this is an original first and foremost. His lyrics are pure poetic storytelling. I can't get enough of this. This is destined to be a classic of all time for Ian Charles. Now everybody?............Listen!!

4 out of 5 stars Soul that walks a different path.......2000-05-04

If variety is the spice of life, then Wishing Street brings it on full flavor. Favorite cut, Heaven's Key...sends chills up the spine. Not only because it is crafted in a unique blend of rich powerful writing but it is sung with soulful passion..I don't think this one could be topped. Other songs that make you want to stop what your doing and just listen are the title cut Wishing Street, Eastern Standard Time and I Will Ride. This album has something for everyone, a little gospel sound in Confessors Hymn, a little fun in La La La La (although this was my least favorite, it takes you right out of the last song and brings on a new mood). Kudos to Ian Charles for a masterful job on what could be my favorite CD to date. Buy it, Try it, It's well worth every penny.

5 out of 5 stars Ian Charles- Wishing Street.......2000-03-16

This is Ian Charles' best Cd so far. It's perfect in length and the songwriting is above and beyond alot of other artists right now. I hear so many different "ghosts" from music's past through this album. None though, that I can pin point. I love to listen to this very early in the morning when I'm driving to work. The songs stay with me all day, and that is more than alright with me. The best cd I've picked up by an indie this year so far.

4 out of 5 stars Finally.......a Grown up Country Music Album......Hooray...........2000-02-23

Ian Charles " Wishing Street" is the dawn of a new era!

As an avid music collector with over 500 titles in my collection...the last few years I've been mostly disappointed by the "Sterility" of most modern music..

This new album with a crackling new band, and veteran producer. Delivers fresh harmonies and catchy rhythms...( The La,La,La song... Especially!) But he also gives me a fresh challenge... Welcome to the new world of Ian Charles....buy it and you'll be glad you did!

Regards,,

Nicholas Burke
