1 out of 5 stars 'Baby I Love You' is censored?!?!.......2007-05-06

I bought the CD for that song and the CD showed up, I put it in and whaddya know? Every time they get to that single profanity that defines the chorus it's edited out. WTF? This is the most disappointing CD purchase I've made in a long time.

4 out of 5 stars Where is Baby I Love You?.......2007-01-22

I also enjoyed the music for this fun and slimy film (good middle of the late, late night flick, I cringed and laughed! Well done!). "Baby I Love You" - unedited - can be found on The Yayhoos' album "Fear Not The Obvious", along with an interesting cover of "Dancing Queen" - our battle cry from our teenage days - those of you older...no...not OLDER...I meant....SEASONED.....chicks out there.

4 out of 5 stars Soundtrack for the movie Slither.......2006-11-27

Couldn't find it in the stores but did find it at Amazon. Price was good and delivery fast. Love it!! (Except they omitted a cuss word)

2 out of 5 stars Missing my song :-(.......2006-09-06

I wanted to get the soundtrack for Slither for one particular song that I enjoyed (no, not 'Baby I Love You', although I liked that one too). The song played during the closing credits and was called 'The New Kid'. It says in the movie credits that it's written and performed by 'The Old 97's'. I don't see it on the list among the songs on the soundtrack, so I don't see the point of buying it. The one song I like isn't there and the other one has the naughty language edited out. I'll pass.

4 out of 5 stars Glad this finally came out, but disappointed by edited version of song.......2006-08-24

I really enjoyed the music from this movie and went looking for the soundtrack after I saw it. After doing some research I discovered it wasn't available at that time, and I had forgotten about it until recently, when a search showed that it was finally released in July.

Although I enjoyed all the music, the song I liked best was the song at the end, Baby I Love You by the Yayhoos. I was delighted to see that it was the first song on the soundtrack... until I played it and discovered that they edited out the F word from the chorus. "Baby I love you, just leave me the (blank) alone" just doesnt have the same kick to it, especially since the movie used the unedited version.

Album Description

Almost 10 years and 6 releases later, Earth Crisis has yet to slow down. Their new offering "Slither" is the most progressive to date. Earth Crisis have adated their sound, but without loosing what makes them one of the foremost bands in the underground metal/hardcore scenes. Old and new fans will not be disappointed.

3 out of 5 stars Earth Crisis - 'Slither' (Victory).......2005-09-02

Problem with 'Slither' is that it doesn't cover any new ground.I mean,it's on okay release by the metal band, just nothing special.Noticed that mainman Karl Buechner has toned down his rather menacing growl to include cleaner vocal arrangements. That COULD actually work here.Tunes like "Loss Of Humanity",title cut "Slither","Biomachines" and "Hair Trigger" appear to be decently penned out.See what you think.Might appeal to some fans of Fear Factory,Korn,Machine Head and Biohazard.

5 out of 5 stars Rawk!!.......2004-03-12

This incredible album shows how much eXc has grown and progressed as a band. I love being able to clearly hear the powerful message in their lyrics!!! It's awesome to see a band so dedicated to a great cause, never straying or selling out, and being such a positive influence on so many people, some who might never have been exposed to sXe, veganism, etc before. I hope their music continues to reach people and change the world for the better now that eXc has called it quits. A great way to end it guys, but you will be greatly missed.

(Even on their worst day, with pneumonia, broken arms, broken legs, strep throat, and out of tune instruments, eXC could NEVER EVER be compared to Wimp Soggy Bizkit or Stinkin Dog Crappin Park like some reviewers compared this album to - SUCH an insult to a band as great as eXc).

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing.......2001-09-13

I've had this album for a little while, and it LIVES in my CD player. I rarely take it out, and I listen to it ALL the time. Usually I get sick of cds after awhile, but I am nowhere near sick of this album, and doubt I ever will be. There is not one bad song on this album. My favorite is Slither, but Nemesis is also awesome...Go buy this album and you will know what I am talking about. I PROMISE that you will not be disappointed.

2 out of 5 stars What happened?.......2001-06-12

What the heck happened to one of my all time favorite Hardcore bands? Once a tough, growling, ripping S**T up band, now a metal, melodic, rappy band!! Sure this is album is solid, well if you review it as itself and not compare it to past EC releases. Guitars are very well done, trading licks and riffs back and for. Bulldog is tough on bass, pounding away with hardcore fury. Drumming is sick as usual. But here is the bad part. Karl once a great hardcore singer.....raps and sings. This is not Earth Crisis, i really dont know what made them take this path...maybe they thought this would make them a huge band..Well they were huge, well,in the hardcore scene. I give the 2 stars for the effort and for the great artwork on the CD. If you want classic EC, buy "All Out War", "Firestorm" or "Destroy The Machines". My personal favorite is "Gommorah Season Ends" which is a hardcore classic.

Cover songs are always fun. You get two here. Sex Pistol's 'Bodies' and Nirvana's 'Negative Creep'. Both very nicely done. Neither are on the domestic U.S. release of Contraband. Listening to them put a smile on my face. I like Weiland's Cobain. They're worth the time if you get your hands on a copy.

4 out of 5 stars Slither. THE SCORE Very Good Music...........2007-04-04

Just in time for Halloween, Slither arrives on DVD and the score album hits the music stores at the same time. There's a song CD also, but right now we are only interested to share some thoughts about Tyler Bates' music. The film follows the same trend of, for example, Eight Legged Freaks, paying homages to such sci-fi/horror classics like Invasion of The Body Snatchers and The Blob. In short, Slither can be defined as a fun, sometimes scary and many times overblown horror comedy.

Tyler Bates was hired to compose the score, defined by director James Gunn as, "Bernard Hermann put through a punk rock/John Zorn meat grinder, and then lovingly reassembled without any irony whatsoever." Previously Bates delivered two solid efforts in the horror genre, Zack Snyder's Dawn of The Dead and Rob Zombie's The Devils Rejects. For Zombie's film the composer created a sometimes difficult but very original work, plenty of exquisite dissonance, sounds and scary chords. For Slither Bates had to keep the score faithful to the genre's formula, so this music is not so original or creative. The score had to translate the movie's heart attack-inducing scares and laugh-out-loud humor into music with emotional depth and complexity - as far its possible.

The B-movies used as references for Slither are memorable, but not exactly for their music. This fact was an obstacle for Bates, since the audiences would be also expecting to hear some genre references in the soundtrack. Bate's solution was simple - to emulate more recent works from composers like Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner and even Elliot Goldenthal. So, if you appreciate the music from films like Aliens or Predator (yes, the introduction of the famous Alan Silvestri's theme gets a nice rendition in the track "Russkies"), for sure you will enjoy this work.

But it is a mistake to think that the quality of Bates music only depends upon the work of other composers. It is the engine that moves forward Slither, enhancing the film's pulsing flow of blood and irony. Despite to be mostly overblown, like the film that serves, the score sucessfully expresses the characters individual qualities. The quiet moments are rare, like the evocative strings based "Love Theme from Slither" (and even this one ends with orchestral bursts). Bates employed an orchestra of 105 musicians, to assure that the performance would deliver to the audiences a classic roller coaster ride. What the Slither soundtrack loses in originality, it gains in fun and thrills. To be honest, how could a score assembled of tracks with names like "Alien Rape", "What's that Smell" and "Blood Vomit" not to be fun?

5 out of 5 stars good music.......2007-01-19

be aware, this is the score not the soundtrack of a bunch of people. this has various moods and its very entertaning. if you like film scores, you might like this one.

5 out of 5 stars Velvet Revolver Rocks.......2004-12-27

For years, several people have been waiting for a new, good, hard, rock band to come along, and while there are a lot of people who do like the music that is being released out on the market right now, there are some people(if you don't believe me, read some other reviews of Velvet Revolver albums) who don't like some of the music that is being released out on the market right now. But Velvet Revolver has finally come along, and they are like Guns 'n Roses of 2004. This three song import has three songs: The studio version of "Slither" off of "Contraband", the cover version of the Pink Floyd song "Money", and the live version of "Set Me Free", another song that appeared on "Contraband". Only three songs, but worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars rock n' roll is back.......2004-10-27

Finally a band who help us remember what's rock n' roll all about.
Here there's a cover of Pink Floyd's Money, check it out.
Of course I'd also get cd 1 if I were you......

1 out of 5 stars ?????.......2006-10-04

Just listening to these sound clips-I can't believe velvet revolver would release such an album. I can appreciate string quartets...but this is absolutely unbelievable. I wonder what would have made them release this? This is NOT rock at all. And four string instruments are no way going to capture the essence of Contraband. I am just in awe that this type of cd exists. No vocals or guitar or drums...Just a string quartet. This is SO not rock n roll....I HOPE the album that they are releasing soon is not going to end up like this...Talk about the downfall of rock n roll.

4 out of 5 stars can't get enough of it.......2005-08-28

If you're like me, and can't get enough of the original album by Velvet Revolver, I think you'll love this. Each song is well done by the four performers, I actually find myself singing to the songs. I have a 5 disc changer at home, and have the original album in the first position followed by this tribute to Velvet Revolver. My ONLY complaint is that I kinda wished that they had someone play a little percussion for each song (ex: the string quartet tribute to guns n roses). But that's entirely okay. It's easy to make the rythem of each song. In fact, there is an awesome slide performed at the beginning of "Headspace" that I didn't know could be done by a violin. There's a treat at the end of the album, a song called .50 calliber, written by the director of the string quartet. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

5 out of 5 stars How AWESOME !!!!!!!.......2005-07-18

This is so freakin' cool! I am a HUGE fan of Velvet Revolver and I play violin in my High School's Ochestra. I would have never thought of a string group even attempting to play Velvet Revolver.
I was searching Velvet Revolver to read some of their reviews for fun, and when I scrolled to the bottom of the screen I saw this CD. I played all of the samples. I was amazed at how well these people played the songs. They sound exactly like Velvet Revolver (except for the obvious fact that they play different instruments)!!!!!!!
I am going to buy this CD as soon as I pay off my debt to my mother for buying Velvet Revolver concert tickets online.

P.S. For anyone that cares, the concert is at Soaring Eagle Casino (Mt. Pleasent,MI) on Aug. 11th.

~YOU SHOULD GO~

5 out of 5 stars Rock with a splash of funk!.......2002-06-19

This is an outstanding CD to listen to all the way through. Some of the songs remind me of the 80's band Living Color. Brandon's voice drives each song home. You will enjoy everything from the funk sounds of "Non Fiction" to the mellow pop song "Melt".
I am looking forward to many more CDs from TOLM! They are on their way!

5 out of 5 stars Brandon T.'s voice is always amazing........2002-05-25

I can remember back awhile after the release of "Get a Load of This" by The Funky Butt Drum Club (brandon's former band) I went to see them at Ernie's Club Twang(periscope recs). AMAZING!!!! If you love TOLM you should do yourself the favor of listening to FBDC if you able to find it. I personally give this album a rating of 5 for the before mentioned reasons. Recording is clean, vocals are great, the music is fantastic, and a very overall fun feeling.

5 out of 5 stars These guys are going places.......2002-05-01

Knowing the guys from TOLM has nothing to do with how great I think this album is, it's just a perk. Brandon T. is a great talent as a singer/songwriter. Seeing him play solo is only topped by seeing the entire band jamming away on stage. I've recommended this cd to tons of people, and every single one of them has loved it. Can't wait to see this guys hit it big.

5 out of 5 stars Depth, Talent, Power, and just plain Groovyness.......2002-03-06

I bought this from the drummer, Ian Shepherd, on one stipulation: when I play it, I blast it!
I took his advice literally.
This is an AWESOME cruising CD. I popped in the Low Men on the same sunny summer day I got it. Cranked it up and the top down. Driving my car has never been the same without this CD as its companion. Heads turning and smiles cracking as I pass by bobbing to the incredible beat, awesome riffs, and just plain groovy music pouring from my sound system!
Not just the power eminating from Brandon's voice, but the depthness of the words and meaningness of the songs connects to me unlike most of the main-stream stuff played on modern commercial radio.
The incredible talent in each of these musicians individually really show in this CD. And the fact that they've meshed it all together so well really makes me feel that TOLM will go far.
I feel honored to know these awesome musicians, let alone having the ability to take their music with me wherever I go!

Every once in a while a uniquely mischievous sound will slither out of the radio and insulate the dark recesses of the public's conscious (examples being NIN's "Closer" and Fiona Apple's "Criminal"). Idle Mirth specializes in these slices of sultry, neo-psychedelic darkness. A swirling cocoon of ethereal yet impacting melody, loaded with percolating electro-ticks and wiry, creative guitar.
