Disappointment.......2001-01-26

I bought this album from Amazon after reading the reviews and listening to the song samples. I thought, great, sounds like my kind of album. When I got it, I was disappointed. First, I should have known by the low price that maybe it would not be good, but that isn't always an indicator. Second, I see it is made by K-tel. Hmm. That isn't always an indicator, but then it isn't Time Life either. Okay, open the package. Put it on. The sound quality is tinny. Okay,well I could live with that. But the worst surprise about this album, and one that it discloses in very small print, are that all these songs ARE NEW RECORDINGS. That is, somehow they got samples of what sounds like the original recording artists, to re-sing their old hits, and they sound bad! (I would use a worse word here but they won't print it, so fill in your favorite bad word)These are not the original songs that you know and love, don't be fooled. They sound like the original people singing them but these are definitely not the original songs. Some sound okay, some sound pretty bad. I wondered how they did this album. Did they buy outtakes? Did they get these original stars drunk and say, okay now sing and we will play crummy background? I don't know. And then the mixes and the downright odd sound effects in the background really conclude the disappointment for me. It sounded to me like someone's 10 year old brother decided to mix a bunch of oldies on an old record player and put in a bunch of odd sound effects that are only funny to him and his friends. Don't waste your time and money like I did. There are better albums!

Great for the road!.......2000-02-02

I bought this CD and I play in all the time in my car. I got tired of carrying it back and forth from my car to my house so I bought another copy for the house. It is filled with the short samples of great songs brilliantly blended together. The more I hear it, the more I like it!

A CD that's great for parties........1999-07-17

This interesting CD collection contains short little samples of each song, cleverly mended together for a smooth output, perfect for DJ's. The songs are new stereo recordings, and some even sound better than the original recordings. (i.e. Hey Paula, When A Man Loves A Woman, A Thousand Stars, etc.) I made the mistake of thinking this was a CD with all the regular, full length versions on it, but it's still an OK CD collection.--Peter A.
