Customer Reviews:
NMA does rock, does this?.......2005-10-31
OK so I've been listening to NMA since the beginning. Yes I had GHOST when it came out, before any of the others. It was awesome. Too bad Customs wouldn't let them into the country to tour. Scaredy cats. They continued to get better and then I lost track of them because chain record stores don't carry them typically. So is this what I should get back into it with? Still thinking about it.
Disregard Previous Review.......2003-09-11
Umm, NMA is a sorry 80s band that should have quit after this album? First, it's a compilation, not an original album, and second, to hear you say Justin and the gang should have hung it up in 1989 and stopped making music is ridiculous. It's not like they're some generic pop band like NSYNC or the Back Street Boys, I challenge anyone to produce a group who has only gotten better, not worse with time. Sure, the Stones or Def Lepard still rock, but nobody goes to their shows to hear their new material.
The Love of Hopeless Causes and Eight were absolutely brilliant albums, and Sullivan's new solo stuff is phenomenal -- especially considering he didn't know how to play guitar when the Army started cranking.
Regarding this compilation, it's notable only because it includes 'higher wall' and 'far better thing.' Each song sounds like it failed to make the cut from 'Green and Grey,' which is understandable given it was the best album of 1989 -- not a weak tune on it. If you're a fan of Green and Grey, buy this compilation.
Does it get any better than this?.......2000-03-13
If you're thinking about buying a NMA album, this is the one to get. It's got all their late 80's hits and much much more. So if you're into 80's music like U2, Sisters of Mercy and Fields of the Nephilim, this one is a must own. If you're more into contemporary music, like Robbie Williams, this will definitely broaden your mindset and change your life forever. Absolute faves: Luurstaap and Stupid Questions. So 80's! (And that's a recommendation!). One remark though: they should have quit after this, these days they're just one more sorry 80's band.
Unbelievable.......1999-06-10
if you buy just one CD from NMA, let Thunder & Consloation be it. But this one is close behind. Worth it for "Far Better Thing" and "Higher Wall" alone, but Poison st. & 51st State rock too. I listned to this for 2 years on my CD player without taking it out. warning: Listening to NMA will make all other current music obsolete instantly.
