About the Artist
"LORDD VIRGIL is my alter ego," explains Virgil Brewer, a 29 year-old Flint, Michigan native. "In high school, a guy called me 'Lord Virgil' because, I guess, he thought my self-confidence bordered on cockiness. I like turning negative to positive when I can, so I started using the name myself," he says, smiling. "Lordd Virgil is the guy that all the women want and all the guys want to be. He is my mischief maker, my dark side, my alter ego, all wrapped into one over-the-top rock & roller. Like most entertainers, there's the dual personality thing happening here, but when he's up on stage, Lordd Virgil can get away with almost anything."
As the chief songwriter for the group, Lordd Virgil creates a sound that's exclusively their own. While, in some respects, it's reminiscent of Kiss, Alice Cooper, and Aerosmith, this four-piece ensemble fills the gaps between today's powerhouse acts like Godsmack, Nickleback, P.O.D., etc.. "Audiences are usually singing our songs with us by the time we hit the second chorus" says Virgil. "The guys in the band are often surprised when the kids in the crowd seem to know the lyrics as well as they do."
Virgil speaks of the band as if he's their number one fan. "I feel like the luckiest guy in the world to be playing with such talent. These guys are as good as the best I've heard on major releases." Over the past decade, Lord Virgil has had many musicians contributing to it's overall sound. In 1998 Virgil formed this particular version of the band. Collectively, these four guys have years of live playing experience: Rob Johannis, who Virgil has known since their freshman year in high school, lends an artistic blend of bass techniques, precision and speed, while locking in like clockwork with the drummer, Tony Smith. Tony drives the group from the pocket by creating an explosive drummer's stew that is certain to make Mr. Smith a name in the music business as more and more people hear the band. Rounding out the collection is Chris Hoyt who brings over 20 years of lead guitar experience to the group. This four-wheel-drive phenomenon is a rock fan's dream band.
Lordd Virgil's hard work and unique sound captured the ear of veteran Rock and R&B producer John Hughes II. Establishing his name working with such acts as George Clinton, Parliament Funkadelic, and David Sanborne, to name a few, Hughes brought the band to ARS in Orlando, Florida to give the band an ultra-modern rock sound. In ten eighteen-hour days, the musicians, under the guidance of Hughes, knocked out ten songs to complete the blistering collection entitled "Anno Domini", due for release this year. "I think America is always ready to rock," says Virgil. "Lordd Virgil provides fun escape for a little while and shows people the time of their lives. That's what Rock and Roll is all about."

Lordd Virgil's sophomore effort, Anno Domini is a stunning blend of modern rock sounds and classic rock writing. Produced by veteran producer John Hughes II (George Clinton, David Sanborn, Joe) and performed by Michigan rockers Tony Smith, Chris Hoyt, Rob Johannis and Lordd Virgil the thick and dark guitar sounds compliment the melodic vocals with a likeability not heard since the 70's.
The album opens with the guitar-stomp assault of "Tip of my Tongue" with playful double-entendre lyrics that you can almost taste. The guitars then flow seamlessly into "Pain". This first-person account of the abstract feeling will have you singing along and banging your head by the end of the chorus. Track three leads you to the dark pop of Alejandra, which brings to mind a modern "T-Rex" sound. The incomparable "Inside" is definitely the radio-ready song of the disc. Its taunting melody insists "Everyone inside my head still wants to talk to you". "Ashes to Ashes" then chugs along with its Bowie-esque vocals and sing-along chorus. The ballad of the album is the moody, yet stirring, "Melancholy Girl. Lordd Virgil returns from ballad-land with the bombastic "It Won't Stop" that sounds like a track that could have easily fit on a mid-70's KISS album. The album then twists with the poppy "You're There" which features the staccato guitars reminiscent of the Cars. High-energy rock returns once again with "Whatever Happened to You". The CD closes with a storyteller. "The Devil's Among Us" cleverly illustrates Lucifer as a beautiful woman in a Johnny Cash tone of voice.
With a blend of extremely successful influences, Lordd Virgil manages to whip up a refreshing and original delicacy that will thrill and excite any fan of rock and roll.

Redeemer was a Rock/Metal group started by Bill Menchen in 1984. The band played around the Southern California area until 1989. In 1986 the band released a poorly recorded cassette independently in very limited numbers. After a few years, the band broke up, and the music was forgotten about. Until now.
