Everything Done Perfect,By The Book...but.......2007-02-01

Ac/Dc had recently released 'Blow Up Your Video' which had garnered a bit of a buzz especially from 2 great videos but the sales were still not up to what they were in the early 80s so they did what on paper seemed to be a very smart idea,they hired THE best rock producer in the business,Bruce Fairbairn who had rescued Bon Jovi,Aerosmith,and others with smash hits...heck,I would have done the exact same thing in their shoes,and did it work? Well,yes and no.The razor's edge did sell quite a bit more then the past few releases,especially powered by the lead off single 'Thunderstruck'
and the songwriting did improve tremendously on this release while still not selling out the blues based rock style that got them to the party in the first place..songs like 'Moneytalks''Are You Ready', 'Let's Make It' 'Got You By The Balls' and my personal fave 'Mistress For Christmas' show that they have all the power and fire that they did way back for their ultimate release 'Back In Black' yes,those songs are that good,the lyrics are still as sexually charged as ever,Angus can still play lead right up there with the best of the best and nobody alive can scream like Brian Johnson...but..something just doesn't feel right with this release...if you listen to the songs by themselves one at a time,they are just about perfect,but when you listen to the CD from start to finish it feels so bare bones,so for a lack of better word 'empty' I'm sure this was intentionally done,the band did not want people to say they had gotten too polished,but it makes the CD kind of hard to listen to from start to finish,there isn't a lot of warmth...maybe that's just me...but especially towards the end of the CD I always find myself looking at the CD case to see how much longer I have to go 'till it's over..it's just too similar,to o dry sounding the whole way through....I think basically aside from the production being dry the last two songs really bring it down (a problem that Ac/Dc had on almost every release)
The CD opens with 'Thunderstruck' a modern day classic,couldn't ask for a better way to open the album...from there 'Fire Your Guns' almost shouting to the world that they are back as strong as ever...'Moneytalks' brilliant lyrics,and extremely catchy music make this one very strong..the title cut 'The Razors Edge' full of dark atmosphere,reminds me in a lot of ways of the feel of 'Nightstalker' from Highway To Hell..but it seems to be lacking the same warmth ..from there 'Mistress For Christmas' almost every guy in the world would love the lyrics to this one..it's one of my favorite holiday tunes and is my personal favorite from this one...'Rock Your Heart Out' is another great catchy song...'Are You Ready' is just one word..power..awesome tune,one of their best ever,would be perfect to open up concerts with..from there 'Got You By The Balls' again the lyrics are perfect...I think they took more time with lyrics on this release then any album they ever did,and it shows,catchy music too...'Shot Of Love' catchy but not one of my favorites...'Let's Make It' perfect song for girls to dance to,so that gets thumbs up from me...'Goodbye & Good Riddance To Bad Luck' and 'If You Dare' I think they just threw those two songs to fill out the CD,but if they left 'em off (or maybe threw 'em onto a box set as unreleased tunes) it would have been better,it really drags the whole CD down at the end...all this being said,I originally was going to give this a 3 star rating but I've changed my mind and give it a 4 star rating...there are many many great songs,some of the best in their career,I just don't care for the overall tone,I wish they would re-release this one with a warmer feel...it feels very sterile..but overall a great CD and truly a comeback!

The Upside - perhaps the best lyric work they've ever done...the style of great blues tinged rock continues,but with a lot more attention to songwriting.They have done a great job of putting together some classic tunes.

The Downside - the last two songs,aside from that it's perfect aside from feeling a little bare.

The Bottom Line - This should definitely be in your collection. You are not likely to find a collection of songs this good on almost any band's CD.Some great hits are here,some incredibly catchy songs with great lyrics and my favorite holiday song are all here...if you are new to the band I'd start with Highway To Hell,Back In Black,and Dirty Deeds,but then you should definitely check this out..and all hard core fans of Ac/Dc should definitely have this...this is some of the best work...go out and buy this the donutman says so!!!

What Could Be Better?.......2006-11-09

The Razor's Edge is AC/DC's greatest album. I Don't care if it was a comeback or not, it's that good. Lets review the songs.
Thunderstruck - One of the best songs from AC/DC. Angus' guitar skills are amazing, and I love the football-hooligan chants from Malcom and Cliff of "THUN-DER!"
Fire Your Guns - A Great fast paced song that has an awesome riff. Oh, it has nothing to do with artillery, if you didn't already know that.
Moneytalks - The band's greatest song, and my favorite of all time. Its riff reminds me of "Who Made Who." This song is what puts this album together. I can't even describe how good this song is. Just listen to it.
The Razor's Edge - While it is one of AC/DC's darkest songs, it is still awesome. I loved it. It's "eerieness" is similar to "Hells Bells."
Mistress For Christmas - Hilarious. Just listening to the words makes the song good, but the bands simple cords in this song also make it OK.
Rock Your Heart Out - Corny, but still has a good beat and riff that makes it worth listening to when you're doing chores around the house.
Are You Ready - Good song, but its still hard to believe that it was a single and not Fire Your Guns. If you ask me, its a little overrated.
Got You by the Balls - Better title than song. But it still isn't awful. It has an ok beat and riffs, but its just ok from a band that is this good.
Shot of Love - Incredibly slow beginning, and it starts to come around half way through the song, but its too little, too late.
Lets Make It - Underrated. Much better than Rock Your Heart Out. People will probobly disagree with me, but it is actually a pretty good song.
Goodbye and Good Ridance to Bad Luck - The worst song on the album. Very boring and repetitive.
If You Dare - Almost as bad as the above. It was just a bad way to finish the album, but the previous songs in the album makes the album waorthy of 5 stars.
My advice - New AC/DC fan or not, buy this album, especially if you love Brian Johnsons vocals. This album is just as good if not better than "Back in Black," so its 1 or two on their top albums list. BUY IT!

another great by AC/DC.......2006-08-05

The Razor's Edge is the first AC/DC album I ever got and it turned me on to them. This is their comeback and it sounds great.

The album opens great with the masterpiece known as Thunderstruck. A great riff, great lyrics, great vocals...what more could you need in a song. Fire Your Guns is a great fast-paced song. The next great is the title track. One of the darker songs they've done, it has a great riff, great vocals, and a great drum solo by Chris Slade. Mistress for Christmas' riff is simple but it works. Rock Your Heart Out is one of my favorites from its great riff to its great bassline. Then comes the self-explanatory classic Are You Ready and its great beginning and great lyrics. Then comes Shot of Love. It starts out bad, but a song full of guitar syncopation follows making this track great. Let's Make It is poppy, but it has great drums and good enough lyrics. Then comes Goodbye and Good Riddance to Bad Luck. With one of my favorite riffs on the album as well as my favorite lyrics(especially when Brian says "disposable blues"). The last great song on here is If You Dare. I think it should have been a classic. It has a great chorus and a great riff.

Now as always, time for the other songs. Here's another thing to make people mad after my Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap review. Moneytalks isn't all that great. It's decent, with a good chorus, but it's too poppy to be a classic. Sorry but it is. Got You by the Balls isn't any better.

Overall, AC/DC had made a great rock album here, something they wouldn't be able to do on their next albums.

The Razor's Edge is another great rock album with many more hits than albums before it.

5.Mistress For Christmas- Funny song, but not a standout track. 7/10
6.Rock Your Heart Out- Fast, upbeat rocker, but gets repetitive. 7/10
7.Are You Ready- A great solid fist-pumper with outstanding guitar and catchy chorus. 9/10
8.Got You By The Balls- One of the many songs on this album that is boring and repetitive. 6/10
9.Shot Of Love- An infectious beat can't stop this song from getting boring. 7/10
10.Let's Make It- Kind of awkward guitar, but okay nonetheless. 7/10
11.Goodbye And Good Riddance To Bad Luck- Kind of catchy beat and chorus, but gets old quickly. 7/10
12.If You Dare- The guitar is very catchy, but another boring, repetitive song. 6/10

Overall, The Razor's Edge has its ups and downs, but it's worth listening to for just the first four songs.

Well, at least the first four songs are good..........2006-07-24

This is a HUGE improvement over 80's albums such as Flick of the Switch, Blow Up Your Video and For Those About to Rock. It still feels kind of uninspired, but at least it contains three of my AC/DC favorites: Thunderstruck, Moneytalks and the title track, plus Fire Your Guns. But it dies out after this, and AC/DC churns out pointless song after pointless song. It's an improvement, though.

The album that carries U2 into its 25th year--and likely the mixed blessings of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame--is one of its most frank and focused since the days of October and War. The Eno/Lanois produced "Love and Peace or Else" may shimmer with the duo's electro-production conceits, but it's Edge's lugubrious, postmodern John Lee Hooker guitar swagger that drives it. Elsewhere, Bono's trademark dramaturgy is spotlighted on "City of Blinding Lights," the unabashed romance of "A Man and a Woman," and the confessional "Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own." Losing their clarity, nothing you want to sing along with.......2007-06-29

I have been a fan of U2 for a long time. They are one of the great all time rock bands. But this album just does not do it for me. The sound is muddy. There are no clear, strong melodies. U2 made their name with stirring anthems, that combining idealism with clear, piercing music. Oh well, everybody has off days. This one is not a keeper.

Not so good........2007-03-15

A long-time U2 fan. I saw them when I was a student when they were playing the Hammersmith Odeon in London. There are only two good tracks on this album. "Vertigo" and "Sometimes you can`t make it on your own", although the second is beginning to sound like a repetitive theme. Vertigo is excellent, original sound and production, when I first heard it I loved it, not even knowing it was U2. Great energy. U2 should be embarassed about putting out such a mediocre album. Doesn`t anyone tell them, "hey.. that is not actually a good enough song to put out". I was in a band myself, sometimes a song was rubbish, and you just have to let it die. Not all babies are beautiful.

High Quality but no progression from A.T.Y.C.L.B.......2007-01-20

Firstly U2 are beyond legends and their success is almost undefinable.There has never been a band that have survvived this long and still been innovative. Sadly that innovation and newness that we associated with U2 is dying as they are a band artistically going backwards. Sure the diehards (and there's millions of them) will dispute this but i cant help get the impression thart Bono's politics and long periods away from the band is finally catching up with them as the end product seems rushed, forced, much too like A.T.Y.C.L.B. In other words a bit of a cookie cutter mail it in job. im not sure if there is much left in this band anaway. Maybe 2 albums at best. they have nothing to be ashamed of but maybe their time has come and they should go out on a high. The over-exposure of this band is what is killing it. people are getting tired of Bono's political speeches from the stage and even his voice is cracking at some of the gigs. Still U2 are the most heavily critiqued and criticized band in the world because they are still the best. Not by much any more but just about. Coldplay are right behind them and moving up fast and the british invasion #2 post punk movement is putting trememdous pressure on U2s relevancy.But like i said their crown will still have to be won and it could be a few years yet.

This Album Completes Any Yes Collection........2007-06-08

Back in the day Yes came out of no where with Fragile and got tons of air play with Roundabout. When Close to the Edge was released most of us were anticipating more of the same, therefore it was somewhat of a disappointment because we wanted more Yes rock and didn't even think about Yes art. This album actually defined where most of us were gonna stand on Yes, love 'em or hate 'em. Whether or not it is a great album, like all music, in completely subjective but I can say that no Yes bag is complete without this album. Some music services have provided this album as a "partial" and how ever they picked which tracks are good enough for the "partial album" is beyond me. What an insult!

Superb musical art.......2007-05-24

Tell you what: I enjoy contemporary rock music for sure. But the fact is that, after some 25 years since I last heard this Yes album, it still shaked me from inside as it did before. To put it short: this album is polyphonic, creative, and...effusive. Try it!

An Art Rock Masterpiece.......2007-04-15

This is Yes's finest album . I have owned it since it was first released and consider it one of my top 10 releases of all time . Every musician should hear this recording , it is a masterpiece of creativity and dexterity . The title cut is almost impenetrable in places but is still an amazing piece of work . And You And I is the bands finest , most listenable song . Siberian Khatru may be the weakest cut , but it is still better written and performed that 95 % of every thing ever recorded . This may be the finest example of the Art Rock era .

The Best Yes.......2007-04-12

This is my personal favorite Yes album, in fact one of my all-time favorite albums period. From beginning to end, there is no filler, or boring parts to it. It is a stream of consciousness. You have to start at the beginning, listen all the way through, and see how the album climaxes and declines. You could almost say that about any record, but this is totally different because the record is broken into three parts, and the space between is sort of a logical rest, like intermissions or scene transitions. The musicianship here is top-notch. I can't remember the exact lineup at that time, but it does get quite intricate and they pull it off. Another interesting quality to the album is that it has sort of a vibrancy, a live sound to it. That could be due to how it was recorded, or effects, or both. Anderson's only weakness, and some may not consider it a weakness, is that the lyrics are truely of the style crafted by Anderson: there's no mistaking it. There may be some sort of reason to the words, or logic, but after 15 years of listening to this album, I'm damned if I can figure it out. The upshot to Anderson's wandering hazy poetry is that they were the best lyrics you could have put to this kind of record. It all makes some kind of sense in the end. If you like pop music, or are looking for the Yes of the 90215 days, you'll probably not latch on to this one. When I first got the album, I gave it a listen or two, but I didn't get it. Then I lent it to a friend who was amazed by it. So I went back and tried it again, and then I got it. Some bands are that way: you have to get up to their level before you can understand what they're doing. If you don't at first succeed with this record, give it another try, it will probably start to work after a few more spins. Then the doors open up and you see a new horizon of music.

Classic Yes at their peak.......2007-03-02

While this album might be a challenge for many people to absorb, it is certainly the greatest accomplishment Yes produced because it succeeded in realiziing the band's vision of longer pieces, collective arranging, and economy of ideas. The dense ensemble textures and extended durations are pulled off wiih a logic that it less demanding than later albums. As a song cycle, the 3 pieces join together to make an album that is difficult to envision as a set of pieces broken apart and distributed on iTunes. "Close To The Edge" is a single volume: once yoou start, you should just stick it out until the end.

Fugazi fans already know that this is the original gospel according to Ian MacKaye. This Washington, D.C., quartet hit harder, faster, and franker than just about anybody--and were willing to see through their own bull as quickly as anyone else's. MacKaye manages to be charismatic and confrontational at the same time: tossing brilliant, genuinely funny asides into his serious-as-a- heart-attack lyrics. Meanwhile, the band, led by Lyle Preslar's staggering guitar attack, pushes MacKaye on with the tightest, most razor-sharp sound in all of hardcore. Depends on how you look at it..........2007-05-12

For me this album had all the meaning that a really good book can have, inasfar as I feel it changed my life. It showed clearly, and with perfect sincerity, how one could regain a relatively stable, morally sound life out of the MTV-Morass that American culture had become (and still is). And all of this coming from a genuinely punk perspective, stripped of anything weird, i.e. religious stuff. Granted, you can see how the philosophy involved colors one's view of the music- I could never separate the philosophy from the music. The philosophy made the music all the more powerful. In contrast, I listen to musically powerful songs whose message is inherently confused - Sex Pistol's "Holidays In The Sun" for example, where they attempt some kind of cool punk-rock look into Communism - and the effect wanes. What is punk rock when you subtract its message and feeling? Power chords and distortion, I guess.

It's interesting to see some reviewers essentially asking the more die-hard or hardcore followers of this way of thinking to relent: and Im sure there have been a fair-share of people with a boorish exposition of Straight Edge and the "message" expressed in this music, who have tired you with their 'preaching'. Young people often take themselves and their principles too seriously, and go to extremes in the name of something they believe in: now its time for YOU to get over that fact, as an observer. We can mellow in our late 20s and 30s, its inevitable anyway, but the music which Ian made was as serious as life is, and I find his stance more admirable than the wishy-washy coolness of whatever bands you care to name. This album is for me pure distilled brilliance, but of course it speaks to some more than others.

Punk, Hardcore, Whatever, at Its Finest........2007-04-13

The first half of the album is really great punk rock, played with great speed, and great precision too! Then, by the second half you start to notice the progression in the band, and a little bit of the music gives hints about the future sound of Embrace and Fugazi, although still much more punk in nature!

Years after its release, these tracks still have all their immediacy and power.

This is quintessential DC hardcore, and of course the first "straight-edge" band. Whether or not you agree with their philosophy, the music that emerged from it is tight, smart, sometimes funny, and frequently ironic. There are times when the tunes seem almost electrically charged - and like an electric shock, they're short and to the point. Whether with "In My Eyes" (one of the hardcore classics) or the searing "I'm Seeing Red," these guys aren't mouthing words.

This is DC hardcore at its purest. It's one of those essential records that time can't seem to touch.

The pain of a protracted legal battle with his former manager and the release of being allowed to record again after a three-year layoff are equally apparent from the piercing hard rock and harsh lyrical content of Darkness on the Edge of Town. Betrayal and hard work that comes to naught are the primary subjects on his mind here, evidenced by songs such as "Adam Raised a Cain," "Factory," and "Streets of Fire." Elsewhere, there are signs of hope or at least the possibility of outrunning your problems ("Racing in the Street," "The Promised Land," "Prove It All Night"). But mostly, these are songs about exorcising some serious demons, and from the sound of things, Springsteen's loud, lonesome howl and blistering guitar work went a long way toward making him whole again. This was the album that got me to stop buying Springsteen albums. The first three albums had been great. Born to Run, the album that preceeded this one, was an absolute masterpiece. So I had high hopes when I bought Darkness. They were all dashed.

What happened? You see these reviews here having orgasms about the angry, harsh attitude of the songs. Yay. Notice that nobody talks about the actual *quality* of the music. After there albums where Bruce evidenced great songwriting skill, coming up with wonderful chord progressions, fantastic song structures with unexpected twists, and really showing off his talented band to good effect, on darkness he regresses to simplistic, boring, utterly predictable 3-chord songs. For instance, Badlands: the same ultra-basic 3 chords over and over again, the verse the same as the chorus. Gee Bruce, what'd it take you, 5 whole minutes to think up that one? And THAT song is one of the better on the album! (at least the tune is catchy). There's a few songs which are ok, most are pretty forgettable.

And as for the arrangements and the use of the band, one statistic speaks volumes: Clarence Clemon's magnificent saxaphone plays for about 24 bars *on the whole album* (three short little 8 bar solos, and that's it!).

This is my favorite Springsteen album. I play it quite often, and the songs are equally angry, sad, poetic, and haunted. Badlands, the title track, and Adam Raised a Cain are brutal and brilliant. Adam especially is a really scorching track. Racing in the Street is one of Bruce's most despairing songs, but it's still quite moving. You can really feel the desperation of the characters in the song. Even the lesser tracks like Factory (a song I like a lot) have a world weariness and power to them that most artists today can't even come close too. The Promised Land is another great Bruce anthem, one of his greatest songs. The cover is really something. It looks like Bruce just woke up, and you have to give him credit for making himself look so average. Most rockers wouldn't do that, because they're so obsessed with their image. I think this is Bruce's best work.

springsteen's 1973-1978 years were an amazing run, almost as great as the rolling stones 1968-1972 years. each album that he released in this stretch of time was fantastic. "darkness on the edge of town" is his starkest production from that era. a masterpiece that is intense and dramatic, with a big drum and bass sound, and several of the finest songs in our rock and roll canon. "badlands," "the promised land," "prove it all night," and the title track are all powerful, heavenly rock performances. "adam raised a cain," "something in the night," and "streets of fire," may be less known, perhaps less lauded, but are each great in their own right. the lyrical guitar solo and sax solo on "promised land" are both gorgeous; and the raw, wild telecaster sound of the solo on "streets of fire" is soul-stirring. bruce's voice is uninhibated, soars with emotion and drama, and is tremendous throughout. johnny cash. bob dylan. bruce springsteen: my trio of homegrown american voices that are indispensable (if you want to make it a quartet and throw in billy joe shaver, i won't argue). your life will seem vaguely empty without lots of music from these gentlemen around the house.

Hard hitting, thought provoking, intense, emothional... just a few adjectives to describe this true gem.

Every song on this album is classic. Even the plainest arrangement on the album (Factory) lyrics have a serious bite to them. The title track is Rock and Roll poetry at it's absolute finest. Badlands ranks among Springsteen's five best songs, and that's no small accomplishment, yet Promised Land, Racing In the Street, and Prove It All Night are just as good. The rest of the album is on that same level. Adam Raised A Cain, Candy's Room, Streets of Fire, and the aforementioned Prove It All Night all have searing (as opposed to soaring) guitar work. Springsteen's guitar tracks burn a hole deep into your soul. It's not the flashy guitar god fret flying Van Halenesque style. It's a style that is filled with raw emotion. Lyrically, there are only three people in popular music who could be rated as high as Springsteen as a aongwriter. They are Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Tom Waits. Dylan's peaks have matched Springsteens, but only Waits has been as consistent.

Hauntingly Beautiful.......2007-05-07

The first time I heard this artist was on an instructional DVD for hot stone healing. I couldn't believe how hauntingly beautiful her voice and the music was. I wanted more and had to find out who she was. I did and immediately purchased the CD. The same song repeats throughout the entire CD, with minor variations and for some that may not be what you are looking for. It is very nice for a healing practice or meditation or if you are looking for beautiful vocals that follow you through your day.

I first heard this CD in my prenatal yoga class -- it was perfect for our meditative portion of the class. I loved it so much I used it during the birth of our son and it became his favorite cd for getting to his restful place before bedtime. At 2, he now asks for his "yoga music" almost nightly which gives me a chance to enjoy it and take me to a peaceful place with him as I rock him to sleep.

I like Jennifer Berezan's recordings. "Returning" is something I stumbled on when purusing used CDs at a store. I often listen to it when I'm going to sleep at night. I have also played it during gatherings of people for contemplative and shared prayer. It helps me center myself and connect to the energy of life and love.

Beautiful, Transformative Chant .......2007-01-09

This beautiful CD was recorded partially in Malta, in a man-made underground chamber designed exclusively for its perfect acoustics. The result is a warm, ethereal drone that reverberates throughout the hour-long chant, perfectly complemented by the goddess chants recorded over it.

Each chant comes from a different religion and culture. There is a song to Yemaya, the Yoruba goddess of the sea and rebirth; a Navajo chant to Mother Earth (my personal favorite); A Buddhist mantra to the Bodhisattva of Compassion; and a beautiful line of Alaap singing, a form of Hindi song-prayer. Each voice in this recording is pure and emotionally on-target, and nothing about any of their roles in this piece seems tacked-on or forced.

The combination of all of these elements is soothing and nurturing, just the way a piece centering on "returning to the mother of us all" should be. I recommend it to anyone with a meditation practice, healers, and even just anyone who needs help relaxing at night.

Transformative inner journey.......2007-01-06

Returning is a magical experience. As the chants echo, you are transported on a transformative inner journey. I use this CD for healing work, ritual and ceremony, and women's circles. It is hypnotic and profoundly beautiful. It reminds us all that what we long for is a return to the Earth Mother. This music cradles you in Her embrace.

Rushup Edge is the debut album of 2007's Rephlex artists, the UK's The Tuss, a dynamic duo discovered via intensive MySpace exploration by the A&R dept. Apparently touted by Planet Mu, XL Recordings, Record Makers and Ninjatune all at the same time, they eventually decided to sign with Rephlex for reasons of principle. The label is very excited to find an act with this degree of promise and hopes to be releasing even more work soon. The Tuss' official line seems inspired by the time FFRR signed Chicago house legend Lil Louis' smash hit French Kiss, even though they had no information about him at all at the time. The Tuss offers little biographical info as well, preferring to concentrate on their musical merits, which they describe as "braindance." Rephlex don't really mind too much, but hope to acquire some photographic evidence soon. This album features six tracks featuring a unique blend of head music and dance vibes, everything from classic techno to modern funk, gabba, ambient and classical influences. "Last Rushup" is a breakbeat-y machine with spooky pads, "Shiz Ko E" starts with tuff rhythms, segueing into Prince-y funk and tons of top claps. "Death Fuck" presents mental beats matched with double-speed hip-hop, and "Goodbye Rute" ends things on a mellow note. We'll leave the final word to the journalists, but suffice to say it's very lush music -- so get your ears 'round it!

If anything, it might be nice to hear these themes extended. As it stands, the 23 listed tracks are covered in a little under 50 minutes, with many of the cuts barely lasting more than a minute or two. Truly Incredible.......2003-03-12

This album is a masterpiece. Within the first strums of the guitar, you feel as though you are among the southwestern hills. It has immediately become one of my favorites of all-time. The songs are filled with beautiful imagery, enchanting tunes, and haunting melodies. The shortness of the songs in unnoticable, as each song blends into the next, and the album itself serves as one epic journey. It is not meant to be listened to a song at a time, but as a whole. As I said, it is truly incredible. I would recommend it to absolutely anyone.

Their first and third album "Jagged Little Thrill" are the best efforts out to date. This album is full with ballads which are the standouts of this album but overall this album is fulfilling and can't wait for a new album from them.

Im shocked, after reading these reviews, that people can say they "stopped buying jagged edge cd's" after the latest album, Heartbreak. Jagged Edge are without a doubt the most talented, and consistent RnB Artists around, and for those who critisize them, i think they may need to take a closer look. Heartbreak is a very very good album, and is one of those albums you could throw on, and let it play right the way through, because there isn't a track on this CD you need to skip. Heartbreak introduces the album with a slow melody, and then "Did She Say" is slightly more upbeat, with jermaine dupri as effective as ever. "He Cant Love You" in my opinion is the best track on the album, "What You Tryna Do" follows and to be fair, is a pretty average song, and ther rest of the album, with songs like "Promise", "Can I Get With You" "Lets Get Married" and "True Man", THe J.E. Tradition of fantastic songs carries on, I just feel sorry for the people who will stop buyin their cd's, as there is so much more to come from these talented males.

Jagged Edge's second attempt to me was no better than the first.
Jagged gave me two songs that I listen to and the rest is pure filler. I stopped buying their music after the second album. Even though their specialty is ballads, it seems that's all they can do and quite frankly, I can't sit there and listen to someone give anesthesia from my player. I love ballads like the next person, but variety is the spice of life and they are just not providing it for me again. Disappointing! Grade: F

The back cover of the CD says, "File under world music, new age, women's, healing, meditation, vocal, ambient." Any of those will do just fine, but in my collection, it goes under "when you have to relax!" It is a wonderfully relaxing hour or so of music, sure to carry you off to any tranquil corner of your mind that you like once you put it on and close your eyes. Replete with guest vocalists and nature sounds over a mellow guitar arpeggio, the songscape consists primarily of gentle repetitions of the title line. Only the first four minutes or so are outside of that mold, featuring a three-verse song of healing and love for the Earth, which then segues neatly into the main event. Later in the piece, Alice Walker recites her poem "We Have A Beautiful Mother" over the music. This might be a bit much for some listeners, but if not, you'll love the whole CD. Pleasant dreams!

I've given this CD along with "Returning" to friends and they love them too. Its a great CD - I find myself singing along, getting lost in the music and harmony. The CD is one long song that evolves and changes yet has "praises for the world" running through it as the undercurrent. Absolutely fanstastic.
