Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com essential recording
A fitting end to the band's career with the RCA label (they moved to Geffen in 1996), this collection spans a number of years and musical styles, performed with a surprising amount of energy considering the Cowboy Junkies' notoriously laid-back style. The song choices epitomize the heart and soul of this band, whose languid, dark tones are rooted as much in rock as they are in traditional country & western music. Vocalist Margo Timmins's wonderful renditions of Patsy Cline's "Walking After Midnight" and Hank Williams's "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" are enough to bring the listener to tears; Robert Johnson's "Me and the Devil" and John Lee Hooker's "Forgive Me" conjure some funky blues; haunting covers of Bruce Springsteen's "State Trooper" and the Velvet Underground's "Sweet Jane" transport the listener to completely different terrain. There are plenty of originals as well, including an especially moving version of "Sun Comes Up, Tuesday Morning." --Lorry Fleming

live junk.......2004-03-11
There are most of the songs you want to hear from this band and a few surprises along the way. That dreamy, sultry voice singing such thoughtful lyrics to the accompaniment of harmonious strings is music to die for.
Great Album.......2001-11-23
the hokey pokie really is what its all about.......2001-10-20

200 MORE MILES : LIVE PERFORMANCES 1985-1994 will please the fan of the first period of the band with a superb " State Trooper " recorded in october 1986 in front of friends and family members or an hallucinated " I'm so lonesome I could cry ". If you prefer the electrical period of the band, don't worry ! Guitarist Ken Myhr appears as invited guest on numerous performances and delivers two or three great guitar solos specially in " Murder, tonight, in the trailer park ".
The two CD's offer only one until then unrecorded song " Lost my driving wheel " and present a few spoken intros of Margo Timmins that are accurate and very funny. There are no overdubs on the record, the songs are really presented live and the band sounds terrific. I hope you will have the same pleasure that I had with 200 MORE MILES : LIVE PERFORMANCES 1985-1994 and soon consider it as
a CD for your library.
Great intro to CJ.......2000-11-04
