One of the best cds ever.......2007-07-03
This is without one of the best cds i have ever owned. The music is phenomenal! I just can't say enough about it.
Great Album.......2007-06-08
I love this album. It is true music. Tight sounding band. Great Vocalist. Superb lyrisist. All musicians are good. The drummer is powerful. I turn it up loud and jump around in the living room.
Perfect record from under the radar grunge rock band.......2007-05-31
Toadies are simply amazing. From front to back, this is one of only a few cds that I can listen to over and over without getting bored. It has so many great hooks and every song is memorable. It sucks that they didn't make more music together. Todd Lewis is one of the best rock vocalists ever, in my opinion. He just has an awesome quality to his voice. He now has a new band called the Burden Brothers, who are pretty good.
Whether you want to rock out to "Mister Love" or sing along to "Possum Kingdom", this is one record that doesn't sacrifice any of the fun. Buy this and "Hell Below/Stars Above" immediately.
Whole Thing Is Pretty Damn Kickin'.......2007-01-01
I have very eclectic musical tastes, but my love for this album comes from the same place that likes to rock out on The Pixies, The Sex Pistols and Sugar. This is sharp-edged, intelligent, agressive rock 'n' roll, more than a little angry, twisted and downright evil.
Clocking in with a tight eleven tracks in 36 minutes, this CD is a killer from beginning to end. There ain't too many albums I can say that about. The supremely hooky vampire narrative "Possum Kingdom" deserves its status as hit alternative single, but tracks like the scorchingly heavy "Velvet" and the slow-building bone crusher "I Burn" are just as good.
The good old days are still here........2006-12-29
I clearly remember when I first heard the Toadies. A walkman radio. Laying on my bed. 5th grade. The song, Tyler. Yes folks, I think we all have fond memories like that of the Toadies. Since then, I've loved this album. If you dont know this band, you are not to be blamed. Unfortunately, they aren't a staple around the country. But they stay alive because of people like you and me.

One of the best unsigned punk bands out there!!!!.......2003-11-14
I know these guys personally. One of them use to be my boss. You need to buy their CD's, visit their site and watch their videos. And if you ever get the chance, see them live. I rarely miss a show....They RAWK!!!!
They have 2 CD's out. Only one was offically released by Overall records.
this is the best punk rock the south bay has to offer!.......1999-11-20
THIS CD ROCKS! I've seen these guys in concert enough times to tell you this is the best punk rock coming out of southern CA right now. You'll love every song on here, especially victim and swiss radio. Keep an eye out for their new CD DRIVEN that was just released.
Fast, melodic punkrock.......1999-04-02
Rubberneck play some of the best, fast-paced, melodic punkrock around. Rubberneck stands out from the crowd with fast drumming, throbbing bass, crunchy guitars, and great vocals. You can't go wrong with this melodic masterpiece.
Rubberneck is a straight forward punk band.......1998-09-29
I saw these guys at the warped tour, and decided to check them out. They were among one of the best bands there, and their CD is a great addition to any collection with any other fast paced, no mess around with punk. Just listen to it, especially Swiss Radio.

Album Description
AMAZE ME: SONGS IN THE KEY OF PEACE is a grassroots benefit CD of women's voices for peace. The album features thirteen songs by independent singer-songwriters from across the US. All proceeds (100%) are being donated to organizations that support peace, justice, and free speech. Beneficiaries include Women Against Military Madness (WAMM), Veterans for Peace, CodePINK, and Democracy Now.
This is a collection of songs by musicians who love their country and believe the US can be a leader for peace in the world. In a time when it's said to be unpatriotic to use the very freedoms we are trying to protect, these women are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in. The songs cover a lot of ground, from kindness and lullabies to guided missiles and the Patriot Act. Some issue a direct challenge for a better America while others invite the listener to imagine peaceful alternatives to our current course of action. Most are recent creations, although a few date back 10-15 years with messages that are still relevant today.
The project came together through a collaboration of musicians and concerned citizens who wanted an alternative to the voices they were hearing in the mainstream press and radio: primarily male voices arguing for pre-emptive attacks and military budget increases. In a time when corporate radio heads banned the Dixie Chicks for exercising their First Amendment rights, this concerned group wondered what other voices were being silenced.
They decided to find those voices and create a way for them to be heard, with the proceeds going to other organizations working for peace. They sent out a call for submissions and received 86 songs from independent artists. The group members donated their time and resources to help make the benefit album a reality, and their spirit of volunteerism has been contagious. Many individuals and businesses donated resources or offered their services at greatly reduced prices to support the cause.
The CD hits the streets on October 7th, 2003 and will be available nationally at many retail locations around the US as well as on the web. Order the CD today!
Customer Reviews:
I LOVE THIS ALBUM!.......2003-12-12
I recently borrowed this CD from a friend and now I plan to buy several copies of my own to give away as gifts. There are so many great things about this record. First, the songs are amazing (no pun intended) and inspiring! Second, the CD has introduced me to a bunch of new songwriters who I didn't know about before. Third, proceeds from the album go to groups working for peace. Rarely do I like compilation CDs, but these songs were thoughtfully chosen. I really recommend it. Also, all of the songs and their lyrics are on the website, so you can check it out before you buy! If you like any of the artists on the CD: Kris Delmhorst, Brenda Weiler, Edie Carey, Ellis, etc. I think you'll like this CD just as much!

All's you can say is this band rocks.......2003-06-01
These guys are so damn good that it hurts. Their latin funk jazz rock rhythms leave you no choice but to get up and dance. I now live in Southern Oregon, and would do anything to hear them. I've been listening to them for more than ten years, and I'm reduced to having to buy their CD's.
That's not a knock on the CD mind you, but once you hear it, you'll be clamoring to go and seem the live. I can't imagine being disappointed listening to a Rubberneck album.
stifling music.......2000-03-12
My brother caught onto this band in Boise, Idaho and turned me onto them. This album is smoking from top to bottom with sweet latin rythyms fused with funky beats. This music will make you want to dance and the cd gets better every time you listen to it. I can't wait till they produce more albums.

Customer Reviews:
Evidence of Excellence!.......2006-11-29
Ellis is an independent singer/songwriter from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her latest full-length release, Evidence of Joy, is what every musician tries to come up with. Ellis' stories and experiences come through on every track including George Anne that is about the constant calls for a George Anne that Ellis doesn't know. Ellis' love of singing and her talent are clearly evident on this disk. Don't miss out! Buy this and every other CD by Ellis! You'll put them on play and never stop enjoying it!
A great blend of songs from an exceptional artist.......2006-08-16
Evidence of Joy is an amazing mixture of laughter, love, audience yells, and frankly, joy. If you are an ellis-aholic, you will love hearing the old favorites, along with some that you may not have heard in concert. Or maybe you can use it to tide yourself over until she hits your town again. If you are new to Ellis, or to indie-folk music in general (as I was when I first heard her), this album is definately the perfect place to start. But Buyer Beware - ONCE YOU START LISTENING TO ELLIS, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO STOP!!!
Not just "Evidence" of Joy... It's a Proven Joy!.......2006-07-21
Evidence Of Joy, the latest album created by the talented singer, song writer, musician Ellis is a collection of uplifting music. As the fifth solo release, this album shows the experience and the character of a seasoned artist.
The songs on this album range from seriously passionate to outright humorous. It is an eclectic blend of songs that you may have heard along a tour, and songs new to Ellis fans.
she doesn't hold anything back..........2005-06-12
For new and old fans alike, this CD is an incredible sample of "live ellis music". It illustrates her rapport with audience and why fans are inspired by her stage presence. With a total of 4 previously unreleased songs, it's not a typical live album...with the raw bonus track, she doesn't hold anything back...she writes from the heart, lives to share her music, and it shows.
This CD sings!.......2005-01-13
I fell in love with this CD the first time I listened to it. Ellis is unnasuming, has a great voice that travels both light and strong respectively. Her playful, unabashed stage presence and banter with the audience makes listening to this CD a uniquely personal experience. This is fresh and very welcome. If you like a bit of folk, accoustic and an engaging voice, you'll love Ellis. Check out her website too at http://ellis-music.com

new and improved.......2001-04-20
I own all three of Ellis' CDs, as well as some recordings of Bobby Llama. This has a similar feel to Blueprint, but I think it is much more mature. At the last live show I attended, Ellis commented that she has grown a lot and is learning more about herself and I think that's evident here. You see her softer, more melodic side as well as her more usual fun, faster songs. A great CD that shows great promise for albums to come as well.

Phenomenal Talent.......2003-08-18
Two years ago I was been turned onto Ellis by a friend who sent me her CDs... and after rooting through hundreds of artists, mainstream and smalltown, she still remains one of my favorites. For anyone who is a fan of solo girls (+ their guitars!) i.e. Ferrick, Jennifer Nettles, Ani, Catie Curtis; it would be a mistake to pass Ellis by. Her lyrics seem like something plucked out of your journal, comforting and encouraging. There hasn't been another artist in my collection whose CDs are as timeless as "Soft Day" and "Everything is Real". I don't think I can say enough about how amazing of an artist she is... you just have to listen for yourself :)
Ellis is great!.......2001-03-08
Her songs are accoustic and heartfelt. she plays well, and sings from her heart. the album is touchingly dediticated to her grandmother, for whom she wrote the song "Soft Day." She has a wide range of styles for one CD, especially considering (I think) that she played all her songs herself, with the help of her bassist from the group Bobby Llama. "Pick-Up Song" is delightfully written. starting "A glossy picture on a magazine/ Will surely tell you I'm no beauty queen," continuing "if we get together, who knows. take a chance, a little romance . . ." and ending with her singing 4-part harmony with herself. It's a very impressive song, and contrasts heavily with "soft day." The latter is about her grandmother (but it could be about anyone, it's not specific) living longer than the doctors predicted she would. Soft day means raining in Ireland. "It is a soft day, when the anges come . . . when an end comes to your suffering." It is quite a beautiful song. the first song on the album is also one of my favorites, but I really could say that about all her songs. "walking around, got my city frown on, i am happy . . ." She has quite a vocabulary for songs, and she displays it on this CD. There is also a hidden track if you let the CD run when it's over. It is a brief song about a coffee shop that I'm sure everyone can identify with. I cannot recommend this CD enough. it is absolutely excellent. you'll be singing all the songs with her every time you hear it.

powerful, emotional combination of talent.......2005-06-13
It doesn't surprise me that there is only one copy left in stock while i write this... TATB combines ellis' energy, passions, and an impressive display of her maturing talents as an artist. For anyone who's ever felt alone, in love, misunderstood, reflective, or just needed someone to understand them... ellis writes from the heart and every song speaks to the listener. Her honest, folk acoustic sound that speaks to the fans in a voice that is truly her own...
An incredible independent artist who bubbles on stage..........2004-03-10
I met Ellis this past weekend (3/6/04) at an intimate house concert she gave in Sacramento, CA with two other independent artists (irina rivkin and kym tuvim - who are equally amazing).
This was the first time I'd been to a house concert, and this one was sponsored by a lesbian couple who are friends with the artists. Being an intimate setting, allowed the performers to really connect with the audience, and share with us some very personal life experiences through song and spoken word.
Ellis is in a few words, simply amazing. Aside from her music, which speaks from the heart, her personality absolutely bubbles over her guitar onto the audience. She laughs between lyrics (on songs which are funny - of which there are many that are laugh out loud kind of funny), and during songs which are very touching, you can see the emotion in her face as she plays and sings.
Her new CD, which is a live album, and was put together with the help of some of her fans (she held a contest on her website: http://www.ellis-music.com/), will be released soon, and you can pre-order signed copies from her site. Included on that album will be "Grace" which is a powerfully emotional song, where Ellis describes some inner turmoil and learnings she has gained.
This CD, which I purchased at the house event, has now become a permanent resident in my player. Each of her songs is unique in word and music, and each one tells a very interesting story about life events she's experienced.
Unlike many other indy artists, she doesn't lean too far into the political commentary which might turn some people off, but does speak of the world, and the reality we live in.
If you have the opportunity to see her live, the experience will be well worth it. She's so personable, easy to talk to and laugh with, and has a genuine love for her fans. And not to mention that she's absolutely beautiful... :-)
Enjoy!
Singing Ellis.......2004-01-03
She glistens with the excited fervor that musicians exude when they tell a story of their latest inspirations. Ms. B. is no different when she rocks back and forth at the mic pouring out the experience of a young woman learning to enjoy the moment.
She is alive in this moment, sharing her views of freedom post 9.11, of the love that "got away" or did it?, of the process of living right now.
Her guitar playing is impressive and fun. Her demeanor is gracious and inviting...kinda like she just rolled out the rug for your company and she has a tune she can play for you.
Listen, then go see her perform. She has an infectious stage personality. It's good for us working stiffs to see someone doing what they love, someone filled with the light of their craft...

pure magic.......2002-03-18
Ellis is a breath of fresh air to the wilting roses of angry riot girl music and pathetic pink pop pansies. Her music and voice are amazing, but what makes this cd extra special is the brilliance of each and every one of her words. She is a poet, artist, magician, musician, and a creator for the now. Get this cd- you will NOT regret it.
Exactly Ellis.......2001-08-18
I think this album is exactly Ellis. I actually like the forgetfullness. I think it makes her human. If you see her in concert she is the same way. I don't think there is anything wrong with making mistakes and being able to laugh to laugh at yourself. Actually I think it is adorable.
Blue Print Live.......2001-05-14
I think that this CD is great. It is a great reflection of just how she is if you see her live. She is fun and you can tell she is enjoying what she's doing. There are a lot of great songs on this album. I recommend it.
Nice effort.......2001-01-04
Ellis definitely has a charismatic personality, but unfortunately she should stick to studio albums. Her constant forgetfulness and flightiness gets old, but her songs are still soothing.

A funkin' good time.......2003-06-01
While not as good as their first album Nosotros, nothing beats poppin' a Rubberneck CD into your car, rollin' down the window and goin' for a drive. Everytime these guys start making music together, it puts a smile on your face and makes you just happy to be alive.
rubberneck- funky funky funky.......2000-03-16
i cannot tell you enough about this album, latin acid jazz funk at its finest. check this one out- this is a very talented up and coming band. My personal pick is "Happi"- you'll be funkin all night!
Rubberneck - "Lunk" at it's finest.......1998-11-21
Latin soul meets Godzilla funk. That is how I describe what these six Portlanders have goin' on. Not one dull cut on this cd. From "FSN" to "Todo Pa Ti" to "Give me the funk". Very enjoyable sound and feeling. A must for the funky at heart.
Santana meets Tito Puente.......1998-06-12
Latin Funk, Chilean Funk, Power Funk, . . . a few of the feeble creative attempts at labeling this band. However, these quite miss the mark. Much as the Daddies, BBVD, and RCR have seized upon the swing scene, these six guys (plus a baby fro) simultaneously straddle the frontier cusp and retro roots of their music. While swing is definitely dominating the trend right now, don't be surprised to see a resurgeance of the Afro-Cuban/Latin big band sound made famous by Tito Puente, Desi Arnez, and Ray Barretto, among others. At the head of the class of this CD is the third track: Todo Para Ti. Opening with a haunting Spanish horn melody which evokes thoughts of Miles Davis's Sketches of Spain, the song quickly transitions to drummer Brian Foxworth's electric afro-cuban drumbeat, follows to a series of power solos by the individual musicians of the group, all the while bound and punctuated by the Ochoa brother's guitar and bass imagery inspired by their man Carlos. You'll find yourself quickly transported to a scene in pre-revolutionary Havana circa 1953. Other notable songs include Diga Me, a homage to Carlos Santana. Definitely worth checking out on CD, and more so live . . . a very heavy gig.
