Halfway through Domestic Blues, Bap Kennedy confides "I've Fallen in Love" in as sweet a declaration as you'll ever hear. More often, though, he obsesses over all the domestic partners who're going or already gone. With a Dylanish snarl, he begs their forgiveness, regrets his mistakes, even warns, "I've got to get out of this house before I hurt you." He calls his lovers vampires and devils, says he's well off rid of them. But mainly, whether he's country-rocking like co-producer Steve Earle, copping a Stonesy strut, or updating older acoustic twangs with alt-country drive, he just prays one of these women will come back. Can't say if they will or not, but I do know all this obsessing makes for one of the year's best. --David Cantwell

This is one of the finest albums you could ever hope to come across. It's a shame that it never got more publicity. Great songs. Incredible playing by the likes of Jerry Douglass and Peter Rowan, among others. Irish gut to acoustic music at its best. Great production by Ray Kennedy and Steve Earle. If you can get this disc, do it. You won't regret it.

a friend just loaned me this cd. i just finished listening to it for the first time. it imediately reminded me of something i had heard before. the faces and i don't mean rod stewart but ronnie lane. the voice and the playing. if you like this try rough mix by pete townsend/ronnie lane or any faces album.

Bap Kennedy's "Domestic Blues" is one of my favorite discs of the last decade. His great voice and excellent songwriting skills are in top form on this album. I was an immediate fan after hearing this for the first time...and I have gone on to convert several others by loaning them this CD. Bap Kennedy offers a great mix of acoustic country-folk and Celtic folk sounds to create a style that is both unique, yet familiar.

Steve Earle's influence can be heard throughout the album, and especially when Bap covers Earle's 'Angel is the Devil", with Steve playing guitar along with Bap.

Five stars...highly recommended. Now if only Bap Kennedy would visit us here in the states for a tour.

Bap Kennedy has made an album that feels great, sounds great, and tastes great too! That magical combination of songs & acoustic instruments... raw and clean at the same time. There aren't many albums this good and this well hidden. If you are even a little curious you'll like it!

This album is like a combination of Bob Dylan and John Prine. It's got a clean, acoustic sound, excellent vocals and nice lyrics. I am looking forward to more music from this artist.

    This guy is an unsung hero of Underground Hip-Hop. He is a throwback to the days when Hip Hop had a message and was relevent to society. Forget all the TOP 10 crap about "ice" and "whips", If you want something with

      Seriously, I cant believe I am the first to reciew this CD, It obviously has'nt been noticed that much but it reallyt is a hidden gem. I recomend it to people who enjoy progressive music, it's not really dancing music but makes an excellent chill out CD
