Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Grateful nation = great album.......2004-05-29

This album makes me think of so many great bands. Each time I throw it in the old disk player I pick up on a new sound. In tradition of any great indie rock band there is some really tight drumming on this CD. Great fills and really nice ride work do it for me everytime and these guys do it with class. The guitar work is spot on. I love the reverb and effects used on the guitars. It is not used to cover any poor playing, however it is used to enhance the songs further. My favorite song as far as guitar sound goes is track nine. This track sounds like they used a leslie speaker or a really great emulator, and got some really cool Pink floyd tone with it. They captured a great focused bass sound on this CD too. I enjoy hearing a bass guitar instead of it being buried in the mix. This disk also features alot of sweet lyrics and vocal melodies. I guess may favorite track for vocals might be number one but I like them all so much. I guess for closing if you dig bands like Appleseed Cast, Sunny Day, Radiohead, National skyline, or any music that does not suck you should go out and look for this disk.
P.S. This is my first reveiw so if it's horrible um...sorry

5 out of 5 stars Louisville Rock Band Rocks!!!!.......2003-06-11

Now, I may be a bit bias, but this record is amazing. You can hear a very strong U2 influence, especially in the guitar effects, but it is possibly the most original recording that I have ever heard. Being a drummer, I think I may have the right to say that Drew Osbourne is one of the best drummers I've ever heard. He ranks up there with Louisville greats like Kyle Crabtree and Britt Walford and Kevin Ratterman. Almost to Danny Carry of TOOL. Not to mention, Jeremy Johnson has some skill on the guitar. This record is worth buying just for the three minute, instrumental masterpiece, "Scourge of the Despot." The production on this record is simply, in short, brilliant. The sound is like a sweet bird singing in a brisk spring morning, beautiful. If I am a sailor, this record is my sea.
