Customer Reviews:
This is the DEVELOPMENT hiphops FUTURE needs!!.......2007-03-26
Although this was scheduled for a '96/'97 release it wasnt dropped til after his "Both Sides Of The Brain" album with the new track "Checkin' Out The Rivalry" feat.Casual. I guess Elektra's loss was the hiphop world's gain cuz they were stiffling his growth and being dropped seemed to re-focus and re-energise DEL. This is one hella tight album from both a lyrics and production viewpoint. Del's story-telling is at its pinnacle, his battle rhymes are seriously tight, the innocent humour that so often blesses his lines is evident+sharp and his production on 6 of the tracks is amazing ("Lyric Licking" in particular). In my opinion this album outshines both his "I Wish My Brother George Was Here" and "Both Sides Of The Brain" albums. This album starts off with one of Del's best tracks ever "Lyric Licking", a hard head nodding beat backed up with a funky bassline and ill horns mixed with Del's awesome lyrics. Both "Stress The World" and "Why You Wanna Get Funky On Me?" are jazzy tales of everyday life. The next 3 tracks "Dont Forget The Bass", "Faulty" and "X-Files" are the usual quirky tracks we've come to expect from the Delmeister's albums were he lets loose over unique production. "Future Development" is one of the better tracks on display with tight beats+rhymes. I think "Corner Story" is one of the mellowest+laid back tracks Ive heard by Del were he tells tales of growing up heading to the store+chilling with his friends. The beautifully lush jazz A-Plus produced soundscape is the perfect backdrop for such a fun-filled story. "Love Is Worth", "Del's Nightmare" and "Games Begin" are all tight tracks but dont really stand out."Town 2 Town" is an excellent track with brillianr production that inablies Del to take the listen on a journey through his thoughts+entertains all the way. The final track "Checkin Out The Rivalry" feat.Casual is a battle rap track of sorts were both mc's tear down the Toure produced beat to shreads!! The album is a great addition to any hiphop fans collection but at NOWHERE NEAR that ridiculous price!! ($80-disgraceful!!)
Del's Finest.......2007-03-11
This rarity is easily Del's best album. Some of his finest storytelling. This is one of those albums that you have to listen to when you need a reminder that great emcee's do come from Cali.
classic hip hop by a legend.......2006-07-25
Future development is not Del's tightest(I think everyone can agree that Deltron 3030 delivers the best lyrical assault out of Del's collective), but this album carries an old school hip hop flavor that is hard to deny. The lyrics are still tight and on point and the beats are rather decent. If you are the kind that compares, you would notice that this albums production is much better than Both sides of the brain, yet the lyrical content is somewhat more achieved on Both sides of the brain, whereas the lyrics on Future Development are kind of in the growing process of Del's flow style. Still an amazing album by one of the best emcees ever. Pick it up, bask in the classic hip hop flavor, get schooled by the Delmeister.
This is Del's best .......2006-03-10
If you liked "deltron3030" then you will love this ablum even more .Future Development has very kick back cool songs ,but also is still very political like alot of del's other ablums. You need this ablum!
Del at his best, this cd is a classic!!!!!!!!.......2005-01-09
This is a great cd. Unfortunately this cd has never been released in the US because Del got cut from his label before it came out. You can still get this cd at certain locations. And its worth it. I love Del and have every album he was ever on or in and these are the sickest songs i think hes ever made except maybe for Deltron 3030, its close though. Its too bad that this cd was never formally released as this could have been his #1 album. The lyrics are sick of course and since most of the production was by Del himself, you here his tight ass mellow but hard hitting beats. I definately recommend that your order this. You can get it for normal price at Hieroglyphics.com
