Rockabilly revivalists Kim Lenz and Her Jaguars' second blast into the past hits its mark, even if it doesn't make a distinct impression. The redheaded Texan has made some changes since she and the Jags released their 1998 debut. Newcomer Nick Curran (fresh from rockabilly vet Ronnie Dawson's band) brings compulsory speed and dexterity to the guitar slot, but also proves to be a flattering accompanist. Working out of Daniel Lanois's Kingsway Studio in New Orleans, producer Big Sandy captures that classic hep-cat sound; there's just enough echo here to give you the sense the band is performing at a high-school hop rather than in a recording studio. Guest Carl Sonny Leland shines on the keys when called upon. And, of course, Lenz makes like Wanda Jackson at the mic. She isn't going to make anyone forget the likes of Jackson, Carl Perkins, and Sonny Burgess--but then, her mission is to recall them. --Steven Stolder

Im a huge rockabilly fan, old and new - but this CD did not do it for me. The band is good, the material is well written but the vocals just dont hold up. She sounds weak on some numbers and her intonation is questionable on others. Could be a style thing - I'll stick with Wanda Jackson.

Miss Kim Lenz teaches us here on this her 2nd and latest cd the importance of the art of exellence. She has studied the arts of exellence, for this cd is in every possibile way exellent, and in some ways even more perfext then the 1st. From the adoring photo of Lenz on the cover(recreating the classic pinup girl image and glamour) to the well chosem memebrs in her backing trio ,the Jaguars. Lenz has honed and perfected her vocal stylings over the years at live shows, she has a truly unique sound all her own and doens't walk in the shadows of Wanda Jackson or Janis Martin. Lenz has a poweful and sensual voice, one perfect for rock'n'roll. This gal has the Jaguars backing her up, a high octaine rockabilly trio, perfectly fit for her expressive and highly appealing franticly energetic vocal qualities. A magnificent cd, a superb singer, and a spectacular rockabilly group. AWESOME ESENTIAL CD.(PERIOD)

diva. She really is somethin' special. I thought I was hillucinating when I saw the cover of the album. she's georgous in her bathing suit, so 50's pinup looking, and she sings like a Janis Martin style singer, and her band plays in the matter of bill Haley's comets. Really cool

I can't say enough about Kim. She has the rebel attitude of Wanda Jackson and that growl that knocks you dead on your feet. All you Hepcats and kittens beware this album will make you dance until you rip your dress or wear your feet out..

Nearly perfect recreation of the legendary "Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps" album cover art from 1957. A great looking Rockabilly gal who can really write songs and belt them out. The band has a really raw sound; not too slick or commercialized. And this isn't a nostalgia thing either. I wish bands like this were the mainstream music of today. So much better than what passes for talent nowadays. Happy and fun music.

i like this cd better than the second one, One and Only, but both are good. kim lenz is a good singer because she has a sound like some more obscure singers from tthe 50s.

I've seen kim perform live at least 20 times over the years and she's darn good, and so is her trusty little band. She is always putting on great live shows, and her cd's are jsu ta s good, accept you don't get to see her in her cute vintage aoutfits. She's great nad so is this cd, Kim you go girl.
