About the Artist
Facto Alfa was founded by Vico and Jorge Figueroa in 1996, after playing several years in the local Bolivian scene with different bands and studying in the prestigious Musicians Institute in California. Ernesto Rodriguez and Erly Illanes, who also were playing in several Rock bands, were called to complete this project that would give the first Progressive Metal band from Bolivia. Since 1997, the band has played in the most important clubs in the main cities in Bolivia getting a growing number of followers. They have played with big acts such as Baron Rojo (Spain), Horcas (Argentina) and Transmetal (Mexico) showing that the scene is growing throughout Latin America. The band finally records its first album "Siete Pensamientos" in 2000, after having some songs from their demos aired and requested in several radios and appearing in "Cover Me Blind", an Extreme tribute album organized by fans all over the world. The band has already started a tour to support this album which will include the main cities in Bolivia, Chile and Peru.

4 out of 5 stars For progressive/metal listeners, maybe not for everybody.......2003-06-12

Well, I'm always looking for metal bands in spanish. This was the first Bolivian band I've ever heard of, and this album turned out being a good surprise.
It obviously is Dream Theater influenced, as many progressive metal bands today, but it adds a symphonic element that is kinda original. The songs are ok, as most progressive songs, they have long instrumental parts where the band experiment with melodies and time changes, but clearly there are about 3 or 4 stronger songs, but good enough for a first album. Soundwise, I think a bit less of effects on the voice and drums would have helped giving this album a better metal sound.
If you're into metal and/or progressive and want something that is not common, buy this album. Too bad there are no samples of their songs here on Amazon.com, but you can get them at the band's website. Try also the Mexican band called Agora.

I Get this Cd From a Bolivian Friend (Thanx Alberto) and I have two words for you - plain... I think there's a lot of progressive hands that only try to copy Dream Theater and this is a good example, i don't understand the lyrics but the vocalist seems to wing out of tune or something, the guitar and keyboard seems to have the idea but not the technique in my opinion you dont have to play 10000 notes to play really good progressive rock The super group Yes is a good example . I'm a die hard fan of Prog Rock from all over the world and i think there are very good prog latin groups like Anacoresis from Chile, Prefase from Argentina. Check it if you can
But i have to rate this album, so there are 2 reason for just one star : a) the web page of facto alfa , b) the album cover

1 out of 5 stars Is this Bolivian Rock ??.......2002-10-07

Hi, I'm a little curious about this new rock band, I listened to their cd and I got kind of confused because it wasn't what I expected from it. When I saw that it was a Bolivian band I decided to purchase the cd Because I have some Bolivian stuff really amazing, but when I put this new cd in my stereo I just coulnd't believe there was such a low-level rockband in Bolivia. I listened to other Bolivian bands that sound really good and I thought I woul'd like this too but I didn't. Actually I don't know why I'm rating this band either because I didn't like it at all. It sounds really amateur and the whole cd sounds weak. I don't recommend it.
