Album Description
AK1200 At Close Range (4 Stars) URB Magazine An impressive glimpse at the future of drum & bass from America's own AK1200.(:\run recordings/Lakeshore) Fresh off the success of his debut artist album Shoottokill, America's own drum & bass don returns to the format that undoubtedly made his name: the mix-CD. While many mourn the demise of what was once the record industry's darling, AK proves that the mix-CD is still a viable way of reaching the masses. A packaged party-in-a-box, At Close Range is impressive not only because of the number of up-front tunes and seamless mixes, it's that age-old cliched `journey' at the core that make this an experience worth checking. Accessible to the neophyte and battle-hardened veteran alike, AK kicks things off with his signature hip-hop inspired urban beats before deftly maneuvering into deeper dancefloor territory. After inducing the trance with numerous anthemic vocal bits AK drops straight into the dark and nasty biz before easing up into head-nodding mode for the release. Still not convinced? Huge unreleased tunes from artists like Twisted Individual, Pendulum, D-Kay, Swift, and Dom & Roland make this an essential purchase if only to sneak a peek at what the future holds. Chris Muniz

OMG.......2006-09-17
I didnt know what to think when i heard the opening track, it hit me like a punch in the gut. i was amazed by how well the cd was put together. the track selection was flawless and i can't stop listening to the cd, its been on replay since i bought two days ago. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
great cd.......2006-04-10
This is an awesome cd, my favorite from ak1200, Ive got a lot of memories with this cd, I listend to it that much, its very well put together, hard good music with great breakdowns, a must have... A++
ps...and if your looking for great cds theres more to it than breakbeat science and moonshine, check out hospital, react, certificate 18, system, theres a few more goodones that I cant think of off the top of my head :(
AK1200's Finest.......2005-06-09
I've heard all of AK1200's albums and many other Drum n' Bass artists, being a DnB fan, and I would agree that this is one of the better albums that you could find out there. Other great artists are Dieselboy, DJ Dara, Tipper, Baby Annne, DJ DB and pretty much any artist on Moonshine or Breakbeat Science.
DnB at its best.......2004-09-03
When my friend first put this cd in his car, i wasnt expecting much. Im normally not a big fan of dnb, but rather trance and breaks. After about the 5th track, i was hooked. This album had me lovin dnb like it was my favorite genre. AK1200 mixes up his tracks so well with all kinds of tunes that are not repetitious nor drowning.
A very upbeat album with all the right twists in all the right places will keep you comin back and listening to this album anytime! Check out track 12: Pendulum - Spiral.
1200 gets a 4.......2004-03-19
What a great album...a big step up from shoot to kill, which sucked so bad. the beats are great, track selection is great and just the feel is great. theres a couple of weak songs but there at the very end of the cd. this isnt a classic like Fully Automatic but very close and thats why it got a 4.

The soundtrack for a film with no music? Yes, it's true. Josh's Blair Witch Mix takes the high concept of "music inspired by the film" to new extremes: this is the mix tape found in Josh's car on the fateful night the "documentary" was filmed. Whatever the case, Josh's is filled with the doom-and-gloom sounds of vintage goth and industrial tracks and the occasional "scared silly" movie sound bites. It's a strong compilation with classic tunes by Lydia Lunch, P.I.L., Bauhaus, the Creatures, Front Line Assembly, and others. The included enhanced CD video snippet contains footage not found in the actual film. Ironic: one thing that makes The Blair Witch Project so believable is the fact that it lacks the typical clichéd horror-movie sound effects. Luckily, this "soundtrack" is far from clichéd and every bit as creative as its movie counterpart. The only thing creepier would be if Josh had been listening to a tape of smooth jazz.... --Jason Verlinde

Kick ass CD! Very 80's and 90's music........2006-06-02
I saw the film and I loved it. One of the best movies I've seen, and to make it more interesting there's a soundtrack, and a very aprropriate one too. The music on this CD is gothic mixed with 80's and 90's rock, like 'Front Line Assembly'. I love this kind of music and despise pop, so if you like pop music then you will hate this CD. But if you like pop then why are you even considering buying this CD? Unless you have freakishly diverse tast in music. And, this CD has film footage that you don't see in the movie that should play on Windows Media. This CD has a great little collection of music from the 80' and 90's if you're into that and not the film. There's just one thing I didn't like about this CD, and that's the stupid audio taken from the film in-between tracks (i.e. Heather talking). It's only like in-between one or two but its annoying! But otherwise its a great CD!
CRAB ASS MOVIE!!! SO FU..KING DUM...WHATS THE PIONT?.......2005-11-11
IF SOME ONE KNOW THE MEANING OF THIS BULL SH.T LET ME KNOW,YOU TELL ME!!
Not a Soundtrack, but a Companion Piece.......2001-07-24
A Soundtrack to a movie with no music? No, this is not some shallow attempt to cash in on a successful film (surprisingly), but rather a very good goth-industrial compilation disc. In the context of the film, one of the doomed kids put together a mix tape to put them in the mood as they headed out to the woods to make their ill-fated documentary. This CD is that mix, and it couples with the movie and the website (blairwitch.com) very nicely to create a true multimedia experience. Even if you haven't seen the movie, the CD stands on its own as a great goth- industrial sampler if you want to know more about that kind of music. Also, the film's haunting closing credit music is included.
This is an excellent CD!.......2001-07-15
I had never heard of any of the artists on this CD, but I'd listened to a few songs before on the movie's webpage. I bought the CD on a whim, and soon began to listen to it at least twice a day. It is, without a doubt, one of my favorite. Lydia Lunch's haunting voice and screeching saxophone (maybe?) starts the CD in a strangely beautiful way. The Order of Death is also one of my favorites--it has energy and excellent instruments and gets your adrenaline going, then the CD slows down for Skinny Puppy's sad song full of strange sound effects. Then the beautiful acoustics of Bauhaus reminds us of prophecies long ago and ends rather suddenly after the phrase "The Sky Will Open!", leaving us with a void filled by The Creatures. The strange ungendered voice and minor chords of the guitar put me in the mind of Nine Inch Nails, and the song is creepy as well as wonderful. Then Laibach suddenly picks up the pace with the operatic tone combined with scratchy prophecies about the power of God. The Afghan Whig's sad, slow melody comes next with a warning about the people you think you know and a yearning for love in his voice. Front Line Assembly fills the air with weird sounds of people talking and laughing while forcing out grated phrases about abuse and fear. Then, the climax of the whole CD is "Haunted" by Type O Negative, which begins slowly and beautifully, then becomes minor and dark, then has a man talking about his spirit lover and all the poetry she brings out in him, then goes on again to the dark, deep voice and minor chords about hating the morning and ends somewhat slow with the humming. Very, very inspiring. "She's Unreal" is somewhat repetative but neatly picks up where "Haunted" abruptly ends, and includes some interesting experimentations with sounds. "Movement of Fear" starts to slowly wrap up the CD with the feeling of slow panic, but also like you have to give in. Then CD ends with "The Cellar", a track of the noises heard in the movie that slowly ends, leaving you wired and ready to listen again. All in all, it is much more of a masterpiece than the movie, which was pretty bad. Had they made the movie revolve around some of the ideas these songs represent, it would have been wonderful.
One of the best soundtracks made.......2000-08-07
This is a great listen. Everything in this is dark and gloomy, which I like, and of course if you're going to have a "gothic" soundtrack, you have to include Bauhaus, and this is one of Bauhaus's best tracks. Everything on this is haunting and spooky, like "She's Unreal", that song made me feel creeped out for some reason, maybe it was the lyrics, but I love that song too. I didn't like the movie that much, and the clip that came with this CD was just more of the same stuff. This CD is reccomended to anyone who likes dark rock music.

Not only is it great music, but its for a good cause........2001-05-22
I could have created a "Mantra Mix" compilation of my own from my existing knowledge of the electronic/trance/ambient genres. I own several of the albums of the artists on this featured compilation and creating a compilation for driving, reading, or a lounging around the house would be simple. In doing so, however, I would only stick to music that is familiar and not expand my musical aptitude.
Had I not purchased this compilation, the calypso beats of the Sacred Sound System, the rhythm of Madonna's "Shanti/Ashtangi", and the hip Chemical Brothers' "One Too Many Mornings" would have passed me by. Sinead O'Connor, Peter Gabriel, Travis, and David Byrne add their finesse to make this album complete. My musical knowledge has increased in breadth as a result of this album, and it pleased me to read that all royalties from the sales of this album are donated to the Tibetan Refugee Fund.
Great CD to Drive and Work With.......2001-02-24
When you find yourself going absolutely insane with road rage and office madness, put this on. Some songs will make you wanna cry, but in a good way. A great mix of different types of music, and a nice intro to throat singing. Sinead O'Connor's number makes you all weepy and fuzzy inside. But Fatboy Slim's number is a great rock out. One of the best compilations.

A rare compilation of wonder.......2000-12-04
The cover of this album compelled me to look into what this album holds for its listener. I recognized many of the names, such as Madonna (with her awesome sankskrit song), Sinead (with her compassionate "To Mother You"), and Peter Gabriel (with his heartwrenching "Games without Frontiers). However, many of the other artists on this album were unknowns to me, and I have had the chance to explore their work. I am now hooked on Kula Shaker and the propellerheads. Each song on this album has its own unique taste, but they give a bigger picture of reflection and compassion for the human soul when put together. The second disk is also fun becuase it has clips of the Dalai Lama during one of his public speeches. Check it out - you'll also be helping the Tibetan Refuggee Fund if you purchase a copy.
Music for a new milleneum.......2000-12-02
The music is terrific! The opening track by Fatboy Slim is so hypnotic you will listen to it over and over. Sinead O'Connor's "This is to Mother You" crushed any negative thoughts about the controversial artist and Peter Gabriel's less digital remake of "Games Without Frontiers" is significantly more satisfying than the original. In addition to these known artists are some Buddhist chant tracks, one by the Dali Lama himself. These tracks are, for the most part, segregated to the 2nd CD so you can listen predominantly to the style of you choosing. The music and the chants make the perfect background music for an evening at home, the office or for those times when you will listen more closely like a long run or drive. In short this is one of those rare perfect all situation CDs. Disk 2 includes Quick Time interactive video of the Dali Lama and information regarding his beliefs (the disk also include the Quick Time program if you don't have it). Great for someone wanting to know more about the more religious based music/chants on the 2nd CD. This is the type of CD that your kids and your parents would enjoy listening to.

It features unique Andean instruments like the Charango (a small guitar with five double strings), Kena and Zampona (enchanting flutes and pipes of the Andes), and the Peruvian Cajon, (a box-like wooden percussion instrument) which allow us to visualize the landscape and emotion of Perus ancestral heritage
upbeat and lively, sometimes sad and haunting, the sound is always hypnotic, inviting the listener to slip into a dreamland.

Vince Clarke has this to say about the new single: 'I'm having a mid-tempo crisis! Our albums seem to have got slower and slower, so I started searching for classic funk or disco basslines, put some ideas together with chord changes and basslines underneath, and emailed them to Andy for him to sing over the top. The single, like the forthcoming album (living at the end of the world), is quite 'up' and uptempo because we're both in good spaces right now. '

Customer Reviews:
Erasure is back!!! :) .... but not on this single :(.......2007-04-12
Erasure's new single, "I Could Fall In Love With You", is finally out and it is a good track, not amazing, but good. For anyone who is unfamiliar with Erasure, they might get more out of this track as it is very well produced, but for the longtime fans they might be slightly disappointed with the flatness of the overall feeling of this song compared to the rest of the songs from the new forthcoming album, "Light At The End Of The World".
ICFILWY really lacks the wow-factor that a first single from an album should possess. It actually is the worst song on the album, but by no means it is a bad song in any way. It is merely that when compared to the rest of the album, it just doesn't compare. Instead, they should have released "Sunday Girl" as the first single.
On previous albums, the first singles were freaking amazing, tracks like "Sometimes", "Chains of Love", "Chorus", "Always", "Fingers & Thumbs", and "In My Arms". They really captured a new feeling from album to album and gave you a sense of what the new material was going to be like, fresh and exciting. In contrast, Erasure's last several albums, "Loveboat", "Other People's Songs" and "Nightbird", had fairly weak first singles, but I would say those albums were not nearly as good of quality overall, so they really would not have had much better choices even if they chose other songs from those albums, and there were better songs to choose in those cases.
However, those recent albums were not Erasure's best work. But this new album, "Light at the End of the World" is a complete return to their earlier talents and it really lives up to the fans' expectations in almost every way, musically and emotionally. They have never gone away, yet the feeling that Erasure is "back" on this new album is an understatement. This new album is really amazing and it deserved a much better first single release.
Supposedly, "Sunday Girl" is going to be the second single. This will be a big seller and should please longtime fans and I will dare to say it could bring them a whole new slew of fans whom might never of heard of them before. If they are wise, they will release "Sucker For Love" as the third single, and make it a double A-side with "Golden Heart".
The b-side on this single, "I Like It", is a total b-side type of song. The lyrics/melodies are underdeveloped, the song goes on a little too long, and it does not musically match the new material from the new album, but it is really funky and very well produced! I wish they had had more time to spend on this one because it was a very different sound for them and I would have liked to see it developed more deeply. It doesn't sound very "Erasure-ish", but it is pretty cool in any case!
As a long time fan who adores them so much, it is so good to know that Erasure is making it in the music business and that they continue to make great music, play to live audiences, and have such longevity...not to mention some of the most dedicated fans in the world. They are one of the best bands of all time, and I am glad that people can still be exposed to their incredible talent.

LeAnn Rocks!.......2006-05-19
First of all, I never ever liked any sort of Country music, with the exception of this. I am mostly into dance music, and the RH Factor Radio Edit is by far the best mix, in my opinion. With a catchy synth line in the back and LeAnn's stellar vocals, it is the best song ever created. If you like dance music, country music, remixes, or just LeAnn Rimes, DEFINITELY BUY THIS! You will not be disappointed!

How Do I Live Without LeAnn??.......2001-10-23
Rimes showed true talent in the ever so controversal cut of How Do I Live. The release of that song was one of the most prominent points in Rimes career. Still there was an ongoing debate as to whose version was better out of 'fresh talent' that of Rimes or 'known talent' that of Trisha Yearwood. Although Yearwood's version was given the ever so desired Grammy Award, Rimes' version rode to the top of the charts and ended with an amazing CD sales count.
EXCELLENT!!!!!! - 10 stars out of 5 stars!!
AMAZING.......2000-08-22
I HEARD THE RADIO REMIX OF THIS SONG WHEN A FAREWELL PARTY WAS GIVEN TO A CLOSE FRIEND OF MINE. IT WAS A SAD DAY THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO THE MUSIC STORED AND LOOKED FOR IT I HAD TO BUY IT!! I LOVE THE REMIXES DOLLY PARTON'S "WALKING ON SUNSHINE" CD HAS GREAT REMIXES BUY THAT CD ITS AMAZING!!!
LeAnne Rymes-- How do I live.......2000-07-23
It was just recently that my best friend was killed in an automobile accident. When it came time to the funeral her mom played "How do I live" The song caught everyones hearts. After the funeral I ran out and bought the cd. Everynight I listen to it. It keeps me going and is a wonderful song for all ages, sex, and race. Once you listen to the cd you'll never want to listen to another one!
