Tokyo trio Guitar Wolf have created the loudest punk-rock album in the world: amps left on permanent overload, distortion spilling over till its almost unbearably intense. Jet Generation, the sixth album from these frenzied, artless noise terrorists, is sexy, manic, and totally extreme. It takes the screw-you, hemorrhage-inducing rock of the early Ramones and the New York Dolls to its logical conclusion--as one listen to the screams and mutilated guitars on the brutal "Fujiyama Attack" and "Roaring Blood" will show. Energy! Noise! Passion! Exhilaration! There's even a totally incomprehensible version of "Summertime Blues" thrown in. This is rock with a crowbar, a hammer--the works--taken to it. Want to really annoy the neighbors? Buy this. --Everett True

5 out of 5 stars Roars to life with unprecedented force........2006-08-20

Exploding out of the gate with the most reckless sonic assault imaginable, Guitar Wolf destroys everything in its path. This album is the epitome of that destruction.

If you have 'Golden Black' you will recognize seven fantastic songs on here, but that in no way should stop you from picking this record up. As a whole it is very cohesive; showing Guitar Wolf at its most confident, most focused, and most LOUD... or loudest, whatever.

Aside from the 'greatest hits' songs 'Jet Generation' features the groovy 'Cosmic Space Girl', and wildly noisy 'Cyborg Kids'. The hidden gem of this album, however, is the ferociously addictive bulldozer that is 'KUNG FU RAMONE' <--- typed in all caps because it is awesomely loud as hell. It features Seiji's most vile scream, a thunderous bassline, shattering symbals, and a simple but killer lyric. I was amazed the first time I heard it. It could possibly be compared to the first time I ever listened to Guitar Wolf.

The hit songs are still as good as ever, especially the incoherent cover of Eddie Cochran's 'Summertime Blues', the deadly 'Jet Generation', and a super suave dirtier version of 'Kaminari One'.

Prepare to get your butt kicked and your speakers replaced with 'Jet Generation'.

3 out of 5 stars The Wolf Rocks!.......2006-08-12

NOw this is pretty intense stuff. While I agree they are extremey derivative from the Ramones mainly they manage to be less well produced than their heroes who in comparison sound like they were quite polished. Still quite fun to listen to their japanese brand of garage punk.

EVERYBODY should own this album. Guitar Wolf should be on all radio stations! ROCK AND ROLL!!!

5 out of 5 stars Jet Rock N' Roll.......2005-12-06

First of all, in my opinion, this is Guitar Wolf's best album. If you like them, like the Ramones, 77 style punk, or just plain love rock n roll - BUY THIS. right away.

If you dont get it like certain "music fans", then dont bring down the overall rating of this album by complaining about the feedback, the noise, the sheer volume, the vocals - ANY PART OF THIS ALBUM. you just dont get it. Tune in to some easy listening station and proceed to tune out the violent beauty of some of the best rock n roll ever made - in Japan or anywhere else.

Say what you will of the production values, this stuff is raw, fun, powerful and LOUD. If you want glossy pruduction values go listen to mainstream rap or a boy band. Guitar Wolf will offer none of that type of plastic comfort. This is true rock n roll.

2 out of 5 stars What a Dumb Idea.......2003-10-13

The "TO THE EXTREME!!!" conceit is stupid for 3 reasons:

a) You can't play this album in a "shuffle" mode during a party b/c it'll either destroy your speakers or deafen your friends

b) The distortion sounds like absolute garbage and completely muddies the music

c) It seems like a gimmicky mask over lazy production

The music is GREAT I just wish you could actually HEAR it -- I don't need the band to turn up my stereo for me.
