Interstellar travel in your headphones........2007-05-31
Well, Stargate SG.1 has finally ended after 10 seasons, and this soundtrack CD covers only the first two. I think there's room for a new CD or two, and hopefully the Stargate SG.1 people will get around to creating one.
Anyway, I've listened to this CD once so far and I was very impressed. The music really is enjoyable on its own, and I found myself listening to the Cold Lazerus music twice before I continued throught the rest of the CD.
Finally, don't think there isn't much music on this CD because of the small nunber of tracks. Many of these tracks are six to ten minutes long.
Stargate Music Album.......2007-05-12
Great CD throughout. It's a shame the show is being cancelled after 10 years but this music helps to keep the memory on.
Not as good as the 1st Music release.......2004-10-24
The best of Stargate SG-1 is infact a 9 track compilation of the 1st 2 seasons of the TV show. It's really not the best of Stargate. I rather enjoyed the 1st release namely called Music of Stargate SG-1 and the actual movie music-score. However I still enjoyed the music from several episodes of the 2nd season, most notable being the music suite of Hathor.
A fan of the TV show should be pleasantly surprised by the suites in this CD. It won't disapoint.
one for the fans.......2004-05-07
This CD is really one for the fans. If you've not watched Stargate SG-1 before, then it will be very limited in its' appeal.
I personally enjoyed the CD, as I could relate the music back to the particular episodes in which they appeared. Some of the tracks are sweet and melodic, others are more ominious, so it doesn't come up short on variety.
The music sounds, for the most part, rather sythesised (which is why, if you are used to sprawling epic soundtracks from mainstram movies, I generally don't recommend this if you have never watched the show). Tracks are usually a mixture of synthesised sounds combined with more organic notes from traditional instruments, creating a very "sci fi" sound.
This is a great CD to work and study to as it provides great background music without being too intrusive.
Sweet.......2004-02-23
This is a great CD. Just listing to it makes me feel like I'm watching the show.

Motorhead Worship!!!.......2006-03-08
This band totally worships Motorhead. They have Motorhead vibe through out the entire album. They mix Motorhead with 80s thrash and awsome oldschool punk. Some songs on here sound like they were written by Motorhead, some songs sound they were written by the Dead Kennedys and others sound like they were written by Megadeth. These guys play fast and aggressive metal that will make you thrash around the circle pit until you puke. Definitly buy this totally awsome piece of thrash.

The Band didnt even like this one.......2007-04-02
If there is one thing that is known, is that Deicide usually comes through with some insane musical effort, and that is one what makes them an elite group on the death metal genre. Dont get me wrong, this isnt a complete disaster, but its pretty close, with repitive songs, with almost none of the guitar work or drumming that the band is known for. Deicide was on its last nerve with Roadrunner Records, so they rushed the final two albums in the roadrunner catalog. They said that they were very disapointed with the last two roadrunner releases, and if you listen to this you can see why. The one track that really stands out is "Worry in the House of Thieves" which is the best song on this album. The title track is also very good, and the rest is just vanilla death metal, that falls short of average. If you want, go ahead and give it a try if you want to add this to your catalog, but I doubt it will be spinning in your CD player very long.
their worst one... but still good!.......2007-03-29
Personally I don't like this one out of all the Deicide CDs I own (and I own em all). But, this one has one of my fave. Deicide songs on it- Vengeance will be Mine. This song is just... awesome... a nice catchiness that keeps me comming back to it, and I always recommend it to people who are getting into the band. The rest of the album is all right... sounds all the same after a while... but then again all music does in a way. This album is just... good... not great, not terrible... but just good. If you liked Insinerathym (sorry if I mispelled) then you'll enjoy this... same deep growls and good solos. Again... a note about those complain about lyrical content... come on... it's Deicide... means kill God... end of story. You should know what to expect.
It's a bumby ride but im glad i got it.......2006-09-09
Okay most deicide fans use legion & there first release to judge there cd's but if you dont do that (cause they will never be able to top them) you can enjoy some of there other music (amazing).
This album however is alright
Lacks Agression Though and isnt as heavy
Tracks 1-3 Sound Almost The Same
6 Is Too Long
7 Will Be A Deicide Favorite Of mine seeing As FOR ONCE IT ISNT ABOUT SATAN
meh @ track 8 though
for die hards only
One of Deicide's Best.......2005-04-12
In my opinion this is one of Deicide's best Albums. "In Torment In Hell" is an angry Album, but has enough melody in it to make it stand out from other Death Metal bands that are just full of blast beats and nothing else. Sure, blast beats are cool, but they do get old. Here is Deicide, their last Album for the label Roadrunner, at i think, their tightest musically.
People who are the least bit into Death Metal would most probably know Glen Benton as the "God-Hating" frontman of Deicide, and also vocalist for Vital Remains. As for how much he's really into "Satanism" and all that, i'm not sure. I've read in interviews that it's all a show, which it could very well be, but the thing is..Deicide still make good music. Still. After all these years. ..Alot of people would disagree, because of Glen Benton's antics off stage, but i want people who do disagree to fully listen to the songs "In Torment In Hell" or "Let it Be Done", and explain whats so bad about Deicide's music.
I personally think Glen Benton's vocals are some of the best in the Death Metal genre. On songs such as "In Torment In Hell", "Vengeance Will be Mine" and "Child of God", just for example, his growls and screams really shine through and make the song stand out even more. The guitar work by the Hoffman brothers on this Album is also outstanding. Very tight, and very headbangable. In fact every single song on this Album you can headbang too. Most, if not all, of these songs would go over well with the crowd in a Live setting, i think.
For some Deicide are the true founders of Death Metal and one of the greatest bands in the genre..And to others they've sold out, play generic Death Metal and should grow up (Referring to the lyrics..) ..But i personally side with those who say that they are the true founders of the genre. They, along with alot of other bands, made Death Metal popular. And just because Deicide are kinda one of the 'mainstream' Death Metal bands out there, doesn't mean that they should be overlooked because of that.
If you're into Death Metal, check this Album, and this band out, if you haven't already. I doubt you will be disappointed in songs such as "In Torment In Hell", "Let it Be Done", "Vengeance is Mine", "Worry in The House of Thieves" or "Lurking Among Us".
Tormenting, Hellish, Deicidal Death Metal.......2004-04-24
This is another great Deicide album in my collection. I brought it somewhere in the fall of 2001. With this album, it was the same episode that I had with Insineratehym. I didn't have the mechanism to download MP3's. So I had to wait until the album is released. Lets also not forget that like before with Insineratehym, there was a lot of bad hype going around about this album as well. Some said that the album was a little better than Insineratehym and some just throught that it was no-good alltogether but it all turned out to be just that, worthless hype. So I get this album on the day of its release and I take it home and listen to it and like always, Deicide delivers again.
Now for my review. This is Deicide's last album on Roadrunner Records and despite what people have said about it, Deicide goes out with a bang. This album is just as good as any Deicide album. The heaviness, brutality, intensity, aggression and evil still remain. Some of the songs are slow, medium-paced and fast but it's all Deicide. There's also those killer riffs, solos and blast beats as well as those Anti-Christian and Anti-Religious lyrics as only Deicide can deliver them. All in all, it's a great Deicide album. Some of my favorite songs here are In Torment In Hell, Christ Don't Care, Vengeance Will Be Mine, Child Of God, Let It Be Done and Worry In The House Of Thieves which is my favorite. Get this album or you'll be the one tormented in Hell.

Good Live Recordings... But a Rather Pointless Release.......2006-02-03
The performances and sound quality on this live EP are actually very good. I have a few beefs though. For starters what exactly is the point of a live EP? The album clocks in at about 25 minutes. Why not just release a live album? Or at least include a new studio track as an incentive. Also why in God's name did they put "Puritania" on this? That is positively the worst track from "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthopia" and one of the worst (if not the worst) tracks they have ever done. Also, where is the guitar solo in "The Insight and the Catharsis"? If Galder can't handle the solo's why not get a better guitarist. As such this album is for Dimmu fanatics only. Newcomers and moderate fans should buy "Stormblast" (original version), "Enthrone Darkness Triumphant", "Spiritual Black Dimensions" and "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia".
Good, but there are no new songs.......2004-07-10
This is a great live cd featuring songs from their cd Spiritual Black Dimensions. All the songs are played very well, and I can bear witness that it captured all of Dimmu's live energy fairly well. But if you want a real good live album from Dimmu, track down the Spiritual Darkness: Alive In Europe bootleg. It's from just before they released SBD, and features a greater collection of songs, including the rare Inn I Evigehetens Morke.
Alive in Torment ep.......2003-10-16
This is an amzing live performance in germany, by the kings of black metal dimmu borgir. It contains some of the best dimmu tracks ever, played to perfection. Great production everything is fairly clear. definetly worth buying for any dimmu fan \m/
Great Live E.P........2002-11-07
This is a great Live E.P. by one of my favorite bands. The sound quality is great the performances are unbelievable.A must for any fan.The only downside is the shaped disc it looks cool but you can't play it in your stereo or car.So you can only play it in your discman. But other than that its a great buy.Hail Dimmu Borgir!!

Its sad sometimes..........2004-08-17
Firs of all, i would like to state that most kids who listings to any deathmetal band has no clue to what exectly their listining to... But they do it because it sounds "cool" and its just so pathetic and sad. Fleshgrind, are truly talented people and they do have great lirycs but again kids should keep with nu-metal and rap-metal and stay away from this genre simply because they have no clue to what exectly they are listining to, but well ,they do it to scare their parents which takes away the whole purpose to enjoy this music. Mommy and daddy will get mad so i quess i listing to some deathmetal tunes! Blah! I was reading the reviews for nile's album "in their darkened shrines" and some kid called it "real nu-metal" now, if your a deathmetal fan and love nile that should piss you the hell off! Kids, stick to your korn and slipknot, ok ? Stay away from grown peoples music. With that out of the way... I'll say, fleshgrind's "seeds of abysmal torment" is another brutal release by fg and also very worth the purchase. Recommended by a true fan of the underground scene.
Definantly a classic.......2003-02-19
If u listen to deathmetal, this is a must have album. This album is just amazing. The songs are great and they flow with a double bass beat that is unrelenting and incredible to hear. I got a sub in my car and this album just pounds. Each song is a mixture of death-grind and death-groove. Fleshgrind has such a unique sound; the vocals are incredibly unique and ...(words cannot describe the vocals), the guitars are very fast and quite groovy at times (a mixture of the old and new deathmetal), and the drums are completely heavy and fast. If u like the gore-core sound seen in bands like Blood Duster (great band!), exhumed, and skinless, you must hear this album. Btw, their older album is also very good, not as good as this one, but still VERY good.
If you love death metal, BUY this album. You'll love it!!! Your gore-twisted fantasies will come into vivid puke-sex color!
FLESHGRIND ARE DESTINED FOR GREATNESS!.......2001-07-23
THIS CD IS INCREDIBLE. I PICKED UP AFTER A FRIEND TOLD ME HOW GREAT THEY WERE. I HAVEN'T HEARD "DESTINED FOR DEFILEMENT" SO I CANT COMPARE THIS ALBUM TO THAT ONE. I CAN TELL YOU ONE THING THOUGH. THIS ALBUM HAS QUICKLY BECOME ONE OF MY FAVORITE DEATH ALBUMS, RIGHT UP THERE WITH OBITUARY "WORLD DEMISE, MORTICIAN "HOUSE BY THE CEMETARY", AND ANYTHING BY CANNIBAL CORPSE. I WOULD HAVE TO SAY IF YOU LIKE CANNIBAL CORPSE, MORTICIAN, OBITUARY, SEVERE TORTURE, MALIGNANCY, EXHUMED, VOMITORY OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT PICK THIS UP! YOU WONT REGRET IT!
Very Heavy, Very Non-Musical.......2001-03-26
Fleshgrind deserve more of a 3.5 star rating. The longer I listen to it, the more flaws I hear. They must use like B tuning or something, because the guitars are so downtuned that they have a percussive sound that gets annoying after a while. The vocals go from an Obituary-ish scream to a ungodly low grunt. At this point, all lyrics all lost in the GGRRRRRHHHHH! It is very brutal, and the musicians are talented, so they upped themselves from a 3. The lyrics are largely unispired, but not really bad either. If you like Gorguts, Cryptopsy, or any Relapse artists, then pick it up, it will provide some good background music to driving to buy a better CD.

Adequate - Enjoyable.......2006-04-11
Make no mistake, this is an excellent recording of this wonderful operetta. However, there is a tendency these days to rate recordings higher than they deserve - probably because they are new & fresh. And for some reason those who do so often ignore the quality of the voices in the recordings. The singing in this recording is very good and the characterizations are fine. But to suggest that it is comparable in quality to the superb 1964 D'Oyly Carte recording under Sir Malcolm Sargent is an error.
The voices in the 1964 recording - Harwood, Hood, Knight, Potter, Reed, Sandford, Adams - are perhaps the best ever to sing this music and Sargent was one of the greatest of G&S conductors. I would rate the current recording as perhaps the 3rd or 4th best of those available. In addition to the 1964 recording, consider the Marriner which is also excellently sung and also includes the dialogue.
Yeoman of the Guard.......2005-08-31
This is an excellent recording, although at the beginning the audio sounds somewhat distant, as if it were being recorded on-stage from the middle of the house. However, the cast is uniformally excellent, with veddy, veddy proper diction and every "r" rolled. Once in a while the orchestra overpowers a soloist but the chorus is rich, right-on and regal. Elsie's voice could be a little younger to match her age in the operetta. These are minor compared to the whole-between very good and excellent.
O.K. but..........2003-05-04
"Yoemen" is the most "serious" of all the G&S operettas, especially from Gilbert's point of view - Sullivan goaded him into a plot without "topsy-turveydom" and the result is a story that is positively sensible, not just by G&S standards, but also compared with other operettas, (and operas, for that matter).
In particular, the characters in "Yoemen" are real people, rather than the two-dimensional characters of the other operettas. Point is the obvious case, and reviews of performances of the work often dwell on how well Point is (or is not) played. Shadbolt is another character that can be interpreted at least two ways - he is inescapably an oaf and a buffoon, of course, but he can be played as a reasonably young and personable one, which is at the very least as funny as making him old, repulsive and deformed, and much more believable. Giving him a "comic" accent hints at the "quasimodo" approach to the character, and a bit regressive.
This is no doubt a fine technical performance, but at it is less dramatically satisfying than my slightly older (Welsh National Opera) version. Of course I have listened to the latter about a million times, and I do have to give this new one a chance, but I must admit to just a little disappointment.
The "extra" material is certainly interesting. "A laughing boy" is in fact quite often included in modern performances - it is a nice little song, which develops Sergeant Merrill's character, even if it was originally inserted to cover a costume change. "A Jealous Torment" is probably, on balance, best left out - although I had never heard it sung before - and it is far from irrelevant to the plot - giving emphasis to Shadbolt's obsession with Phoebe. The earlier version of "Is life a boon?" is in fact a completely different setting, and in itself quite a pleasant one - although one comes to the conclusion fairly quickly that the final version, one of Sullivan's greatest songs, is much better, bringing out the nobility of the words far more effectively.
But why are all three on Disc 2, where it is impossible to program them into their intended places without burning a fresh Act 1 CD (as I have done) ? There is plenty of room for them on Disc 1.
Great!.......2000-04-22
I wouldn't have thought it possible but the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company have managed to surpass their exemplary 1964 recording of "The Yeomen of the Guard" with this stunning effort. Beautiful conducting by John Owens Edwards - dare I say it, he leaves both Sargent and Marriner for dead! - cap off a well cast ensemble. This is an opera which strives very hard for heart throbs but rarely delivers. Here we have a deeply moving reading of the score, which may well be Sullivan's masterpiece. Compulsory listening for all Savoyards.

True "Norsk Satanisk Black Metal".......2006-12-24
Urgehal is one of the few groups in all of Black Metal's heartland of Norway and Sweden to still be putting out real Black Metal. (-- But how come those Finns seem to have no shortage of great bands?) Instead, most of the bands in those two countries seem to be going for the over-orchestrated, synth-heavy Dimmu Borgir type sound these days. In my opinion, they are losing sight of the true raw and edgy spirit of Black Metal.
So what do Urgehal sound like? Well, they're most often compared with Darkthrone and with their raw buzzsaw-like guitar sound they do sound very similar. But if you ask me, I like them even BETTER (gasp!) than Darkthrone. That's because while Darkthrone do put out some great albums, they also put out some that are.....meh, just so-so. But Trondr Nefas and the boys in Urgehal on the other hand always seem to consistently deliver a great, hard-rockin' experience.
Their new album "Goat Craft Torment" is no exception. From the first note to the last this album really rocks out and totally kicks butt. This is definitely one of my faves of 2006 and I highly recommend it.
I'm not sure if Southern Lord actually released this one Stateside or not. I tried ordering this through Amazon but they weren't able to get it so I eventually had to go track down the European import version on Agonia Records.
Anyway, good luck finding this cuz if you like non-symphonic, guitar-driven Black Metal you NEED this album!
This is Satanik Black Metal From Hell...........2006-12-10
This is the new effort from Urgehal. Goatcraft Torment is a truly punishing release filled with Black Metal violence. The first track starts out with Trondr Nefas yelling "This is Satanic Black Metal." From that point on, this cd will kick you in the teeth and tear your mortal soul apart. If you like extreme Black Metal, you need this cd.
