5 out of 5 stars great of course but............2006-10-20

I don't see any difference between the import and and the U.S. versions. Same tracks. save a few bucks!!!!!!!! My favorite is "Onions" voiced by Bill Mosely a.k.a. "Chop-Top" of TX Chainsaw II and more recently The Devils Rejects.

    5 out of 5 stars GOD.......2000-05-13

Buckethead is a guitar GOD. He is by far the greatest guitar player ever to have walked on this world. This CD is just another of his great masterpieces. Wow...just wow.

    5 out of 5 stars WOW!.......2000-05-03

I already had Monsters and Robots, Pieces, Day of the Robot and Colma but I can say with confidence that this is his best album! It's fresh and original. It's funny. It's touching. It's amazingly catchy! Even the thrash stuff is interspersed with funny little jokes. And for you Star Wars fans out there (I'm one, too) there's a nice medley of themes all rolled up into one nicely rocking package. Buy this album! P.S. Knowing someone that can read Japanese will help you understand what the comic and picture of Buckethead's gear say. I could use a translator, too.

5 out of 5 stars Buckethead is amazing and this is his BEST.......2000-01-02

This CD shows not only Bucket's formidable shred prowess, but his soul and versatility. The sounds range from the soothing (I Love My Parents) to the hard-edged (I Come in Peace) to downright frightening (Buckethead's Chamber of Horrors). It's definitely worth every penny. A rare and wonderful album.

5 out of 5 stars undiscovered gemstone of pure rock fury!.......1999-09-26

Weclome to Bucketheadland, ladies and germs! Who is Buckethead? A fifty-foot man with a white plastic face, carrying an enormous guitar, rocking Tokyo like Mothra or Godzilla, friend of chickens and children- master blaster speed fingers blur and whir over dizzying chords that could have confounded Bach and Beethoven! Look out for Onions Onleashed, the scary scarecrow down from his stick and thirsty for firewater to give him the courage to shoo those pesky crows. Is that Iggy Pop on vocals? Throat Rake, Bootsy Collins? Legendary Bill Laswell produced this masterpiece of sonic savagery, and in the midst of this firestorm of guitars and Pinchface drumbo drums, a simple song like "I Love My Family"?!!! Sony Records tried to bury this music, but you can't keep a good CD down. Twice the price is cheap for this keeper!

    Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Featuring the Best of Dexter Gordon.......2003-02-17

Features excellent examples of Dexter's superb playing such as "The Moontrane" and "Red Top." An album that features an eleven piece all-star ensemble that featured such stalwart players as Bobby Hutcherson, Benny Bailey, and Frank Wess playing Slide Hampton's full-bodied arrangements. Dexter's solo on "The Moontrane" showed him to be unawed by the Woody Shaw tune's post bebop chord changes. As his one time producer Michael Cuscuna once noted, "Of all the people of his generation, Dexter...(had always stayed young)" He influenced Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane and then, when they surpassed him, he learned from them still learning and growing until his death. He was inspired by Lester Young, Billie Holiday, the Duke, Jimmy Lunsford and Roy Eldridge. He was quoted as saying, "Bebop is the music of the future." I once saw him perform back in the late 70's. He was inspiring, in my book the greatest tenor player ever and a he had a way with ballads that was unsurpassed.

...mr. gordon gives us a deep, bluesy album with this one...makes you sit back and reminisce about past loves and what you gonna do to get that next one...
somethin to fall asleep on or to swoon someone equally sophisticated as what you hope you are (and then fall asleep!)...

this is the way grown folks are spose to chill...like we was meant to...

    5 out of 5 stars About this Dexter's product.......2000-07-12

With Sophisticated Giant,we are in front of one of the finest works on jazz music.Starting with a beatifull version of Laura, this album is and example of very good arragements,(Slide Hampton's) and also of Dexter's remarkable talend when building his solos.Melodies are not only lovely, but well treated too.Up-tempos tunes keep the spirit of the whole album while swinging, and that spirit is an spirit of real jazz music. This album is A MUST on any jazz music collection.

It's rare, in our day and age of Britney Spears pop junk food, to encounter not only a song full of artistic merit, but also one with a meritorious message.

I heartily recommend this song and also the CD, One Giant Leap.

              Product Description

Easily Canada's best kept secret in the AOR/hard rock world. Consider this Canada's answer... and a very enthusiastic one at that, to Giant's "Last of the runaways" or Signal's "Loud & Clear". Only... believe it or not, the production values on this 1992 debut greatly surpassed those heard of Giant's debut. Imagine even more power-infused backing gang vocals, crystal clear production, and one AOR anthem after another that fails to let up. Now add the melodic finesse of Hardline's debut, and you've got a clear idea of where this classic is headed. Easily one of the finest moments in AOR history. Featuring Mike Slamer, who was also responsible for hits by House of Lords, Steelhouse Lane, and countless others. 10 tracks including: Edge of a heartbeat, It's only love, Last night, Addicted, Skin and bones, Nobody's hero, and more. Known a few years earlier in Canada as "The Works" (released one album under that name in 1989). Out of print.
