4 out of 5 stars One of the best video game soundtracks.......2007-06-19

With music second only to that of the Zelda series, this soundtrack consists of some of the best and most original music available.

Unfortunately, it does not contain any of the music by Guitar Vader, such as the incredibly fun "Super Brother", thereby making the soundtrack far from complete. This is the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT!!!.......2007-03-15

2nd best game soundtrack ever!!! the best is Legand of zelda ocarina of time

5 out of 5 stars the game is hot and so is this soundtrack ..........2005-12-07

but you probably already knew that.back in 2002, i went and bought a dreamcast. i saw jet grind radio (jet set radio in japan)at blockbuster for sale at $9.99.i figured ,"might as well get it."when i played it,i noticed i heard some of the sweetest tracks ever!i went on the internet to see if there was a soundtrack for J.G.R. and there was,but it was $60.00!fast fowarding to 2005 ,i bought the jet set radio original sountrack and it's hot!

cons-missing tracks (most of them are hot too)
high price for the soundtrack

pros-hot tracks
O.K. House by Idol Taxi is not on the soundtrack(thank you!!!!!!!).
comes with extra stuff
P.S. get the soundtrack at gkworld.com and you could the JSR soundtrack and JSRF soundtrack together for less (about $20)

4 out of 5 stars Almost perfect........2004-03-10

When Jet Grind Radio first came out a few years ago, I was expecting the music to be nothing but J-Pop. Man oh man was I wrong. JGR has some of the sweetest tracks you'll ever hear. And it's pretty diverse too. From the techno/dance tracks like 'Electric Tooth Brush' to the fresh "classic" types like 'Grace and Glory' and 'Sweet Soul Brother', there's not a boring track on here. This is great music to listen to when you're on the go, or need something to kick ass to at home. It's just a shame that people passed this up thinking it was "just game music". I've never heard an album so full of energy like I have here, and I don't normally listen to music like that.

My only complaint, like many other people have mentioned, is that, it's just the soundtrack for Jet Set Radio: the Japanese release. So it's missing a good number of tracks we hear during gameplay in the states. That includes:

-Jurassic 5: Improvise
-Rob Zombie: Dragula remix (but good god man, we don't need to hear any more of this song. It's been in like 12974907 games since it came out)
-Cold: Just Got Wicked
-Deavid Soul: Up-Set Attack
-Deavid Soul: Yappie Feet
-Deavid Soul: Miller Ball Breakers
-Deavid Soul: On the Bowl
-Idol Taxi: Ok House (I hate this track, it makes me want to kill myself. I hate you Idol Taxi. Die in a fire.)
-Professional Muder Music: Slow
-Mix Master Mike: Patrol Knob

Lookit all that. And most of those are pretty cool, especially 'Miller Ball Breakers'. But there was an extra cd released with some copies of JGR here in the states if you pre-ordered it from EB. Sometimes those discs pop up here in the Used & New section. It doesn't have all the tracks I listed though, just a few.

A nice bonus is- the cd comes with a sticker of the cover. Well, mine did anyway. And if you pop the cd into your cd-rom drive, you'll be able to get some cool artwork, and a Pots paper figure (you fold it up). Oh, and just a bit of advice, go get this from gkworld.com, it's MUCH cheaper over there.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing, Something Different and Enjoyable.......2002-04-15

This soundtrack is amazing. The Game Jet Set(Grind in the US) Radio was and still is one of the reasons to have a Dreamcast. The best part about it though (and this is saying a lot) was the music. This CD has nearly all of the best tracks. There are some missing that were put into the US version but they weren't as good and as innovative as the ones here. I was sour to the music industry until I heard this music. Not commercial, no subliminal messages, no story to tell, no anything like that, it is just [great] music. If you have become sour to the music industry this CD will renew your faith. So different and so great you can't help but like these tracks. I only wish more people would listen to it or not just dismiss it as "weird Japanesee [stuff]" because it is something anyone can like. My only complaint is that they didn't include Deavid Soul or Guitar Vader (they have some of the best tracks in the game) but Hideki Naganuma's music won't make you miss them too much.

If you like music, get this.

Album Description

The street action game is back, all souped-up. The music is used as the backdrop to the game's animated 'Manga DImension' polygon-based image. In the game's universe, the music is supposed to be coming from pirate radio broadcasting. No wonder this stylish music doesn't sound at all like a game soundtrack. Includes booklet. 2002.

5 out of 5 stars WHAT....THE...CRAP!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?.......2006-12-03

This album is tha s***! I literally mean it!! My faves are The Concept Of Love, Like It Like That, Funky Dealer, Sneakman, Teknopathetic, Humming The Baseline, and pretty much most of the soundtrack. Who cares if some tracks are missing? I don't. I haven't played the game in like 4 years!! Jet Set Radio Future is like the only good game for Xbox. The soundtrack is one of the best ever in years!!

5 out of 5 stars Worth Every Cent!!.......2005-07-12

This soundtrack friggin' rocks!! It's got 'the' best mix of music. You even get some weird, but good songs in there too. "Concept of Love" is the BEST song on the album. That's the main reason I bought it... but I was taken back with the other 'new favorites' I found. I was bummd out to find that this album was missing a few tunes though. Apparently, the U.S. release of the Xbox Game came with a few songs 'outside the states' releases didn't get. Three of 'em are just like 10-sec. sound clips but most of the missing songs are some of the better ones from the game. My personal playlist has a full *30* songs from Jet Set Radio Future. Here's a *complete* list of the songs you won't get on this CD, feel free to download them from where ever you see fit: Jet Set Medley Future, Jet Set Station #2, Jet Set Groove #3, Jet Set Groove #4, I'm Not A Model, Aisle 10 (Hello Allison), Birthday Cake, The Scrappy, Statement of Intent, JSRF Music, III Victory Beat, and Me Likey the Poom Poom. Hope this helps in you r search for completing one of the the best soundtracks ever created. ;-D

4 out of 5 stars holllllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-04-23

hey this album was alright but was overpriced but the music was not a disappointment plus the guitar vader tracks were awsome but grace & glory was one one of the tracks that gave me the creeps of dancing on someone's grave hahaha!! and notes on the missing tracks if your trying to find these artists most of them you can get at your local recorde store
cibo matto: they are local here and if you are not in to birthday cake then there are other tracks you can listen to.
scapegoat wax: the band is here to plus aisle 10 appears on okkeblow their debute plus their (probably) out of print c.d. swax.
latch brothers: not much in the u.s. no info on them
russel simmins: heard his music here his album might be here but somewhat hard to find
other wise this album is good and the bonus tracks were featured only on the u.s. video game realease and this c.d. is only sold from japan so they might not know these bands but who cares this c.d. is still good anyway plus for tips if you can't find a cheap copy just trade in c.d.'s (the one's you don't listen to anymore) for price drop remember

5 out of 5 stars What a spadoinkle soundtrack... but..........2005-01-18

Excellent soundtrack. Highly recommended. There stands one problem. The combined price for the Jet Grind Radio and the Jet Set Radio Future soundtracks are $80 +. This is no good. I just recently bought both of them for $20, including shipping and handling. Always listen to your mother, shop for bargains, don't buy when you see. Do the research people!

5 out of 5 stars Hey who cares about the missing tracks. this is still good.......2004-07-24

People this album is still good even without the missing tracks. don't get me wrong, i like the scrappy as much as the next guy but this CD is tight. Every time I listen to it, I feel like I'm in the game and Im taken to another world. the best songs are Shape Da future Funky dealer, Sweet Soul Brother, Grace and glory(even though it is played during the darkest part of the game)those are just a few. you ain't heard nothin until you listen to it for yourself. the song Let mom sleep is goofy with the "This is most disturbing" and the high pitched voices. sometimes It even makes me laugh. Hideki naganuma is a musical Genious. This album is simply wonderful BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT. Every moment you waste not buying it, you are missing out. Quit torturing yourself by not owning this album. Im telling you, YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS ALBUM!!!!! Now quit reading these revievs and make use of your time by buying the CD. Its worth Every Penny!!!!

      5 out of 5 stars With style.......2004-03-19

This album is Jazzy-Funky-Dance-Electro-Ambient-Trip Hop-Rock and they can mix all these in one song. The end result: very joyful songs.

      Track
      1) This is where it all began
Nice jazzy song with awsome contrabass, drum, piano and proccessed vocals

2)It didn't used to be this way
More guitar and synth oriented song in style of Porcupine Tree. A good song.

      3)Powder, groom, hardpack
Drum, contrabass and delay effects. Very cute song.

4)I saw the messenger of the new god there
A dance song wich becomes something else. An average song.

      5)Secret spot
Wow. Drum, contabass and full syth effects in a Chemical brothers's way mixed with Porcupine Tree. Excellent song, my second favorite.

6)I'm beginning to think I can cure a rainy day
The most eclectic song of the album. Starts trance, then a nice drum beat comes in, followed by Pocrupine Tree guitar like, shift to jazzy piano mood, then sounds like Joe Satrini (Belly dancer style song). Excellent song.

      7)Diabolical Scheme
Wow. The opening of this song is quite something. You have to hear the guitar, pretty unusual. Enhance with really nice rock vocal passages but they could not resist to change the mood to trip hop style. And they go again and again. It's my favorite song.

8)More Money than I know what to do with
      Love it. Repetitive song.

      9)Tierce de Picardie
More rock mixed with strange sounds. Love it

      10)Scherzo in C minor
Stange song. A kind of classic performed by a gipsy. It must be the violin.

      Love this album

5 out of 5 stars An Excellent CD, from a little Known band.......2003-07-20

I don't care what the reviewer before me said. If he did any kind of research, he would have realized that "Vulgar Unicorn" is a great rock band, who could knock the socks off any "Progressive Rock" fan.

He claims they're just "Some Rock Band". Get a life!
I knew that "Vulgar Unicorn" was a rock band before anyone else.
These guys are so good, that they make Green Day sound like "New Kids on the Block".

I absolutely love track #1 "This is where it all began". This track is amazing, and with the double bass, it totally blew me away the first time I heard it. As an entire package, "Jet set radio" is nothing like I imagined it would be at all. It's 100% better than I expected. And, it's the first CD I bought, of this kind of music.

The music is out of this world, and is really eclectic. There are no 2 songs alike on it. My favorite song has to be "It didn't used to be this way". God, it's so good. The music alone is incredible.
Why I say that "Jet set radio" is eclectic, is because of track #10. It's called "Scherzo in C Minor". It's a strings arrangement, instrumental piece, which totally blows away the "grunge/progressive rock/alternative taste. It's a real soft, cool ending for an ultra long CD such as this.

      The main band members are:

      Drums: Bruce Campbell
Synth & Sequencer Programming: Chuck Babbage
      Double Bass: Doug Liman
      Piano: Archer Maclean

There are many who worked really hard on this CD as well!

I have written to Bruce Campbell, and have been sent some stuff, personalized by him. He wrote me in an email, so I think it's really cool to have their music!

I won't say much more than "go and buy this CD".

Also, if you want to hear some good stuff, go and buy "Pineapple Thief". Bruce Cambell also plays on their CDs.
I have 3 of Pineapple Theif's CDs. They are titled:

Variations on a dream (2 CD set)
      Abducting the Unicorn
      137

Good, good music. You have to buy all these titles, if you like Progressive Rock. You won't be sorry.

Here's The Tracklist For Vulgar Unicorn "Jet Set Radio":
This Is Where It All Began
It didn't used to be this way
      Powder, Groom, Hardpack
I Saw The Messenger Of The New God There
I'm Beginning To Think I Can Cure A Rainy Day
      Diabolical Scheme
More Money Than I Know What To Do With
      Tierce De Picardie
      Scherzo in C Minor

These guys are musical Genius. I really hope they continue their career. This music is like nothing else I have in my CD collection. Go and buy it!!!

3 out of 5 stars Not what you think........2003-01-13
