3 out of 5 stars Will there never be any stay cats ?.......2007-03-17

The c.d. is allright for Stray Cats fans. Don't forget we probably won't see any band like this for a while.

      5 out of 5 stars Rebels Rule!.......2004-06-07

I'm a big Stray Cats' fan and this is my favourite album. Every song is good. "Rebels Rule" is Bo Diddley kinda thing, "Something's Wrong With My Radio" is the fastest song, "Look at That Cadillac" is featuring groovy sax from Mel Collins, "(She's) Sexy + 17" is the hottest song "I Won't Stand in Your Way" is a beautiful ballad featuring 14 Karat Soul on background vocals and "How Long You Wanna Live, Anyway?" is teenage angst ridden song.
The coolest Stray Cats album ever!

      5 out of 5 stars CENSORED LYRIC.......2003-06-03

This is without a doubt, ONE classic STRAY CATS recording. "I WON'T STAND IN YOUR WAY" is the greatest tune Brian Setzer has ever recorded.

But this is a first for me: THERE IS A CENSORED BLEEP OF ONE LYRIC IN THE OPENING TRACK, "REBELS RULE". I have never purchased a censored CD, or Vinyl Album for that matter, in over 30 years of collecting music. This is an IMPORT by Arista. Do they censor lyrics in Britain? I did not know. I know this band was popular in England before they made it in America. Their first 2 vinyl releases were British Imports which I still own. And they're available on IMPORT CD here at Amazon. Although I'm having trouble obtaining GONNA BALL. But this recording, RANT AND RAVE WITH THE STRAY CATS, was one of their first domestic releases back in 1983. Why was it not domestically rereleased on CD? Probably too obscure.

BUYER BEWARE!!! I still had to have this as it doesn't seem to be available anywhere else but on IMPORT. Most of the great tunes from this are on THE STRAY CATS GREATEST HITS, except for "LOOK AT THAT CADILLAC". I'm a purist, and I had to have the original recording. Maybe it will become a collectors items. Who knows? WEIRD!!

      5 out of 5 stars Geniusness!.......2000-07-11

Well, being 15, a typical kid would like, alternative, punk, hip hop, but somethin' about this band caught my eye. Maybe the upright bass, or the way Jim played standing up, or the way Setzer could sing & play that guitar. On this cd, you'll find humor, rebellion, & heartache. Some great guitar skills, great singing, & great writing! The band is tight & the songs are top notch! After hearing this band, alternative, punk, etc, are totally out of the question. It's tuff, sweet, & stylistic! Enjoy! Yee-haw!

this would be the 2nd us release for the cats who on there first us release captured everyone from the stones, robert plant and just about everyone in every major city with the hodge podge of there first two uk releases and called it built for speed.
the cats arguably at there best live and tearing the roof off of jionts with the busboys in 82.finally ending there run as rockabily kings playing the us festival to some 650,000 people in california who most said stole the three day show just like queen had in live aid in 85.
stage two, time to record there second us album, again with veterean rockabilly enthusiast dave edmonds producing the cats seem to go from rumble in brighton to songs like shes sexy and seventeen, too hip gotta go,teenage rebels..the sound was clearly reflecting many of the teen beat type off rags they were ending up in,not because of there great musical ability but because bryan looked soo cute in that i wont stand in your way video.it was obviously a step back for the cats and the band toured and again i seen them loving every minute of it but the band was disanfranchised with brian on one side and slim n lee on the other, after the tour the band announced its breakup.what a nightmare!!the band that was most responsible for putting rockibily back on the map worldwide in the uk,usa, japan, australia and all over the world was finito.
brian went on to do a fantasic album called the knife feels like justice wich is the best of the two since he went big band.it was his best solo work ever followed up with live nude guitars.
slim jim n lee rocker went on with emi and jioned up with david bowies serious moonlight guitarist earl slick and put out the first self titled lp wich had a minor hit with men without shame and managed to have kieth richards jion in on my mistake, there follow up was cover girl and they faded away.
        but then
years pass and the band renconciles and come back with a quickly recorded rock therapy wich was stripped down rockabilly down to its roots and the band marched on.all though the nest 15-20 years they work on there own projects, brian with his big band, slim jim went on to jion a all star rockibily line up with members of the rockats and the polecats and lee rocker has put out a very good self titled cd call"no cats" and its his best work by far.
every few years the stray cats get together, still a band and mezmarize audiences across the world brian setzer the most underated guitarist in the world, most definately one of the best alive, lee rocker slappin that doghouse bass makin it sound like nuthin ive ever heard before and the charasmatic stand up drumer who is succh a presence he flanks setzer on stage rather than setting up in the back like a traditional drummer.
rant n rave with the stray cats represents the downfall of one of americas great bands,a band that stood alone in the 80's and played music that was 30 years old and made us love it,it was cool to be a greaser again.even though the album was the bands decline i love every track on it.and even though they split as a direct result of it,i still love every track on the album because they reconciled and rock on to this day.i highly reccomend this cd.i own it and i highly rcomend all there cds,try to aviod the greatest hits that regurgitates the same stuff.look for the following n you got it all
        1.stray cats debut uk
        2.stray cats gonna ball uk
3.stray cats built for speed debut u.s

7.stray cats choo choo hotfish u.s.
8.stray cats rumble in brixton live cd and dvd u.s

theres a whole lot out there but if you piece this together rather than get greatest hits, you got it all from the greatest rockabilly band of this generation
