5 out of 5 stars THIS IS A GREAT COMPILATION ALBUM BY ENGLAND'S OWN ACE........2007-02-22

I will be writing a review on the legendary album entitled "'HOW LONG,' THE BEST OF ACE, 16 CLASSIC TRACKS" by one of Rock's legendary bands and one of the best-loved British bands of the mid-1970's. I give you one of England's pride and joy's, A-C-E. This legendary compilation album was originally released in 1983 on Vinyl/LP and Cassette on the Music Collection Records label which is manufactured under licence from Minder Records. As always, if I hear any new additional information concerning this legendary compilation album or the artist, I will edit this review immediately so that you the consumer will get the best informative and most accurate review possible.

ACE is another band in Rock n' Roll history that has fascinated me. Although, ACE never hit it big here in the states, it would be in their home country BRITAIN that ACE'S music would have more impact. Paul Carrack would be the heart and lifeforce that would keep ACE ticking all those years. It would be in the 1970's that ACE would spawn their greatest hit to date. It would be an extremely popular Carrack composition called "How Long" released in 1975. "How Long" was also extremely popular in the Pub-Rock music scene. In my opinion, "'How Long,' THE BEST OF ACE, 16 CLASSIC TRACKS" is a great compilation album which will definitely surprise you when you hear it. This compilation album is a true testament of the extremely talented musicians and a fine tribute to a band that was really truly ahead of their time.

Now its time to review the music. If you really want to have a romantic evening with your other half and listen to the sounds of yesterday, listen to the 70's classics such as the beautiful mellow forever popular "How Long," the romantic and powerful "I Think It's Gonna Last," the tropical acoustic atmosphere like mellow Rocker "Does It Hurt You," the mild Rocker "Why," another great Rocker with a good beat "Message To You," the slow and beautiful "This Is What You Find," another forever good Rocker that makes noise "You're All That I Need," the soulful heartfelt mild Rocker "24 Hours," another beautiful slow smooth romantic number "Tongue Tied," the fast paced Rocker "I'm Not Takin' It Out On You," the mild Rocker that has a wonderful beat to it "You Can't Lose," the Rocker that says it all "Movin'," the a*s kickin' Rocker with a good beat "Ain't Gonna Stand For This No More," another mild fast paced Rocker "Sniffin' About," another killer Rocker "Crazy World" and another killer Rocker with a good sound to it "So Sorry Baby." You really have to listen to this whole collection to believe it, it truly kicks.

Overall, this is definitely a compilation collection worth seeking out and checking out, you won't be sorry.

I would like to highly recommend purchasing this compilation collection to own as a valuable and important part of his or her own personal music collection. This album is a hard to find gem but if you can find it, buy it. The legendary compilation album has definitely proven to stand the test of time and will always be around to be enjoyed, appreciated and cherished for many more years to come, NOW AND FOREVER.

In closing, ACE would receive highly critically acclaim success in their native England but would eventually disband in the states in 1977. For Paul Carrack, though, ACE was just the first step to longer lasting stardom; after adding his skilled expertise session keyboards to releases by THE UNDERTONES, THE PRETENDERS and later MADNESS and THE SMITHS, Carrack also recorded and toured with ROXY MUSIC, CARLENE CARTER and NICK LOWE. The Eighties saw an initially low-key solo career catch fire in the states, after a one-album spell with SQUEEZE, Carrack found even greater success as the (now-beardless) frontman of the popular british band MIKE AND THE MECHANICS in 1989. At last, Carrack has finally found the success he truly deserves. With this in mind, there would also be new stories that would need to be told and added to the ACE legend. But that, my fellow readers and reviewers, you will have to stay tuned and read further about at a later date. So here's to you Paul. And as the saying goes, "AND THE REST IS ROCK N' ROLL HISTORY," am I wrong? Thanks for reading my review and I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it for your reading pleasure. I also hope that you will read all of my other reviews in the near future when time permits. ACE RULES. Long Live Rock n' Roll. Rock out always and take it easy. Forever In Rock, John L.
