Just as the Osmonds spun off solo careers for younger siblings Marie and Jimmy in the '70s, Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys now sees 12-year-old brother Aaron bringing his own album to the kid-pop table. The closest this Disney Radio-ready disc gets to naughtiness is "My Internet Girl," a squeaky-clean celebration of instant-messaging. It fits right in with whitewashed, piping-voiced takes on '60s hits such as "I Want Candy" and "Iko Iko," and the lite-funk of the title track. Almost quaint in its preteen tone, Aaron's Party is certainly suitable listening for even the youngest kids. --Rickey Wright

1 out of 5 stars COME GET IT--IN THE TRASH!!.......2007-03-31

This has got to be one of the worst musicians ever! Wait, did I say MUSICIAN? Aaron Carter cannot even rap, let alone make good music. Most of the songs he uses anyway are remakes of ones from the 50s and 60s, but done in a crappy way. And what's with his retarded song, "That's How I Beat Shaq"? If that were really happening, Shaq would've thrown Aaron's a** across the basketball court and then dunked him head first through the basketball hoop. Seriously, somebody shut this kid up!

1 out of 5 stars from a used to be googly-eyed preteen.......2007-03-20

I remember receving this CD for my 13th birthday and being over-joyed. I put posters of him all over my walls and put the CD on repeat day after day. My poor, poor family...

Now that I am older, I see that Aaron Carter is nothing but another waste of time, money and energy. He makes millions by going on stage lips-syncing to songs that he didn't even write. Come on, people.

4 out of 5 stars Not Bad For Someone Just Starting Out.......2006-11-26

This isn't a half-bad album by Aaron Carter. While this isn't in my CD player as much as it used to be, this is still a really good album, considering Aaron's age at the time. As an Aaron Carter and Backstreet Boys fan, I feel it is necessary to collect at least some of their CD singles but all of their CD's (the US released ones anyway). I happen to like some of the Interludes on here, but there are too many in which Aaron and friends use the telephone. Other wise, I thought this was pretty good.

5 out of 5 stars This is awesome!.......2006-09-03

i love aaron carter he is aweosme! i think he has the potential to be the next 50 cent! he can rap better than eminem! but i just cant help to wonder where the parental advisory sticker is on this? i mean he like frickin cusses every other word in each song. ok seriously this kid sucks my nuts. HOW IN JESUS' NAME COULD THIS KID EVER BEAT SHAQ?? i MEAN COME ON HES LIKE 4'5" or something like that SAHQ COULD PROBABLY THROW HIM ACROSS THE BASKETBALL COURT! dont ever buy this.

1 out of 5 stars Can you say "garbage"?.......2006-07-18

Aaron Carter was 12 when he did this? Ha! That's debatable since he looks about 4 on the cover. He also has the voice (and mentality) of an 8-year-old girl crying about her broken Barbie doll. Everything about this album is horrible. I could sing better than him! And the lyrics are weird. "My Internet Girl"? The "girl" is probably some 57-year-old, 875-pound child molester. Please don't give $13.98 to this spoiled brat. His wallet is bloated enough already. And whoever says he's better than the Beatles or Elvis: what? Can you honestly say that with a straight face? That's pathetic. Listen to "A Little Less Conversation" or "Eleanor Rigby" and then tell me that's not good music.

1 out of 5 stars Don't get fooled!.......2006-09-23

This album is not "new" in any way - it only wants you to waste your money. If you bought "Most Requested Hits" from 2003, you have already bought this album too. I bought "most Requested Hits" for 3 songs ("Sugar", "She Wants Me" and "One Better"). Today I think it was not worth the money at all. I gave a few dollars just for three songs. I used to support Aaron and I have all 5 albums, but now, he's engaged and he's probably too busy to make another record. I mean, it's been 4 years since the last time! Aaron Carter is a part of the past. Now you people let him enjoy his bong alone=)

1 out of 5 stars I feel sorry for this foulmouthed punk..........2006-07-18

...as he tries to maintain his "sweet little boy" persona. I hope he doesn't hurt himself. It would be so crushing to all his fans if they learned the truth about this jerk. Not coincidentally, that's why I wrote this review. I never really liked him in the first place, but hearing what a complete tool this guy is, I hate him even more. I hope to God that I nor anyone else ever has the *ahem* "pleasure" of meeting this conceited little brat. What an a-wipe.

1 out of 5 stars *SIGH*.......2006-02-09

Newsflash: His second "Greatest Hits" album in a row (his last album: "Aaron Carter: Most Requested Hits (2003)"), while he doesn't even score hits anymore:

Zijn last "hit" was in 2001 ["Leave It Up To Me" #22 in UK]... After this, he released 9 other singles
[Not Too Young, Not Too Old - "I'm All About You" - "Another Earthquake" - "Summertime" - "To All the Girls" - "Do You Remember" - "She Wants me" (with Nick) - "One Better" - "Saturday Night"]
ALL, piece by piece, FLOPPED! 4 of them are mentioned on this album:

1. Aaron's Pary (Come Get It) - #51 UK
2. That's How I Beat Shaq - #96 US
3. Bounce [new]
4. My Internet Girl [new]
5. I Want Candy - #31 UK
6. Leave It Up To Me - #22 in Engeland
7. A.C.'s Alien Nation ["Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius" soundtrack]
8. Oh Aaron - Huge Flop
9. I'm All About You - Huge Flop
10. To All the Girls - Flop
11. Another Earthquake - Huge Flop
12. One Better - Flop

As you see, not even one top 20 hit, nowhere... My opinion should be clear by now. If you ask me, his 2003 "Aaron Carter: Most Requested Hits" is far better than this one! I'm sorry for the fans, It's sadly but true. This can't even be called a "greatest hits" album anymore... There are 2 (of the 12) songs you can call a "hit".

1 out of 5 stars hahahahahahaaaa.......2006-01-30

the fact that Jive thinks it's necessary to release a 'best hits' of aaron carter is just ridiculous. how old is he? young 20s? not only has he not had all that many albums, but his songs really aren't worthy of a 'best hits' album. theyre just not. he's aaron carter. please don't support Jive's pathetic attempt to make money, this is a disgrace to music.

5 out of 5 stars Best Cd.......2006-01-30

Okay, i just have to say if you are a true aaron fan you will still buy this cd even though all of his songs are on cds. I know i did and its not a waste of money. Well to you it might be if you aren't a true aaron Fan but if you are this cd is really for you.

Soon to bust out of middle school, Aaron Carter chirpily boasts "I'm all grown up now" and implores "Come and show me body." Despite that, this star among the Nickelodeon set is still more Fresh Prince than Prince; Oh Aaron will give skittish parents little to worry about. (This would-be mack still lives with his folks, after all.) Further looking to demonstrate his maturity, Carter's handlers also supply him with "The Kid in You," a brand-name-laden pledge that he'll never forget how to have fun, even while raising his own family 'n' stuff. That lesson is supplemented by the title track, which finds Aaron promising too many friends tickets to see brother Nick with the Backstreet Boys. All's well that ends well, though, with Aaron winding up as the opening act and Nick guesting here. Note: the bonus track is simply an ad for an Aaron Carter video/DVD collection. --Rickey Wright

This is a little bit better of an effort from Aaron. His voice hasn't broken yet on this CD but a lot of the songs are still good. My favorites are, Come Follow Me, Jump on the Fizzy, OH Aaron, Not to Young, Not too Old, I'm all about you (isn't this a remake?) as well as others. Good Job Aaron!

Aaron Carter is a wannabe rapper who just doesn't get what people mean by go away! I mean go away and never sing a lick again please, not go away and make more sickening CDs. Cow Girl (lil mama) what is that. I would have sincerely stopped after jump on the fizzy what in the world is a fizzy you bimbo.

Awesome album by Aaron Carter. Almost all of his hits are on here. I probably would have liked it even more if they did at least four songs from his very first album. Otherwise, I love it. One of the songs I like is She Wants Me featuring Nick Carter, who is one of my favorite Backstreet Boys by the way. When is Aaron coming out with another CD? Good Job with Most Requested Hits Aaron can't wait to hear more from you in the future!

This dude completely sucks. He cannot sing at all in fact I dont think he sings much on this album at ALL. He talks in every song or raps (very badly) or if he soes sing its straight through his noes only barely good song is 2 all the girls. He doesnt write his own songs either apperently. Do NOT by this album. Buy Jesse McCartney s Beautiful Soul it is so much better and he does write his own songs AND IS A BREATHTAKING SINGER !!!!!! He also does not cheat on his girlfriends!!!! This is a Great song by Aaron Carter. Like his music in the past, this CD has no swearing on it, it's fun and catchy... I especially like the remixes. Especially track 3. This one kind of wants you to get up and dance. Anyone know when Aaron will come out with a new CD yet? I have been reading rumors about it for over a year, and I haven't heard anything about it yet. If he is, when will it come out in the United States?

    5 out of 5 stars I Loved This Album November 15, 2006.......2006-11-16

OK, please bear with me as this is my first time ever writing a review on here. I loved this album. The first time I ever heard this CD was at my baby-sitters apartment about six or seven years ago now. My favorite songs on this CD happen to be "Crazy Little Party Girl" (I'm eventually going to get the Single for this song), "Shake It", "Get Wild", "Ain't That Cute", "Crush On You", and "Swing It Out". I also like a few other songs on this one as well. I like this album because Aaron does not swear in his lyrics, his songs are fun and catchy. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who is just starting to get into Aaron Carter, and to anyone who wants to know what he sounded like when he first started out.

1 out of 5 stars This is the worst CD ever.......2006-07-25

God, what bitches of the music industry. They grab a 10-year old out of the 5th grade and ask him to sing, and he does and has no talent, but still use him as a damn lip syncher that has a girl's voice. His cover is gay like he's about to lick someone and his songs make me gag, as well as his voice. Girls are saying he's so hot with that hair cut but I think he needs plastic sugery cause he is so damn ugly with that long hair and looks like a girl. Damn, i hate those people, they just squeezed the hell out of this little kids from the streets to make him sing. I'm in hell when I hear this CD, so I will never listen to this again. End of Aaron Carter (hopefully) and my review

5 out of 5 stars AARON CARTER IS THE BEST .......2006-02-24

This album is great even thought i brought it 9 years ago i still listen to it everday his voice is so cute and still is i have got all of his other albums but on some of the songs like crazy little party girl you can hear the backing vocals that let it down a little bit but other than that it is a great album.

2 out of 5 stars He has grown up now........2006-02-22

Aaron doesn't stink that much. I suppose too many people want to be him or doing what he's doing - all those jealous people out there. Anyway, this CD is far from the best I've heard, but it works great if you're kid around 5 to 10 years old. Aaron had a cute voice back then, but he and his music has matured and grown away from this album. If you are an Aaron-fan, you probably bought this record long ago. For right now, he's working on his 6th album "Saturday Night" - sorry, can't help it! I am excited!

4 out of 5 stars Good performances, in MONO.......2007-03-30

I ordered this recording for the Elliott Carter variations. I didn't even pay attention to what else was on it. As a result, I was pleasantly surprised also to find Copland, Ives and Dallapiccola.

The Copland Variations are sometimes used to show that Copland "could too" write 20th-century music. In that regard, they're not persuasive. Had they been the work of a young composer, one would be more forgiving of the incessant pounding of the thematic materials, the lack of ingenuity in their development, the coarseness of phrasing. But Copland was a mature composer with a number of successes under his belt. 'Variations' stands as a near one-off experiment. Copland soon scurried back to more comfortable territory.

The Dallapicola variations are quite nice, generally subtle and subdued. The gentle complexity of the orchestration really cries out for a stero recording. This fine composer is surely underrepresented in his recorded output.

The Carter variations, even in this first recording, stand out for inventiveness. An ability Carter shares with Stravinsky is his ability to find small ensembles within a larger orchestral texture. The music moves surefootedly from intimacy to bold climax. What a piece!

What hasn't been said about the Ives America variations? Written originally for organ (Ives was still in his teens), they were orchestrated by the capable William Schuman. They're still funny, if perhaps a little puerile.

For many years the Louisville Orchestra was an important source of new music. It is breathtaking to consider the number of important pieces both commissioned and performed by this group. It's good to see some of those recordings available again. They're occasionally a bit on the rough-and-ready side, but they also convey the excitement of making this music for the first time. It would be great if they were in stereo, but they're not. Amazon could have been a little more clear on that fact.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Intro to American Classical Music - Almost a Short Course!.......2005-07-12

Many reasonably sophisticated American and European musiclovers still think there are really no American classical music composers of note other than perhaps Gershwin and Copland. It is to the credit of the Naxos label, via their 'American Classics' series, that the lie is put to that notion. Each month there are new issues from Naxos containing music by American composers. And it was a brilliant idea for them to take selections from their dozens of releases of this music to put together this sampler of such music to illustrate a 100+ page essay on the subject by an eminent writer on music, Barrymore Laurence Scherer. The combination of 2 CDs of music tracks, Scherer's essay, a chronological outline, suggestions for further listening, even a map showing where various composers were born helps the 'student' learn much about our nation's musical heritage.

There are selections by twenty-eight composers stretching from the amazing Wagnerian 'Macbeth' Overture by William Henry Fry (1813-1864) to the very recent 'Rapture,' a percussion concerto by Michael Torke (b. 1961). Some selections are complete movements, others are shorter passages from larger works. Included are such gems as the first movement of Arthur Foote's Piano Quartet, the third movement of Henry Hadley's Fourth Symphony, Charles Ives's 'The Unanswered Question,' 'King Cotton' by John Philip Sousa, 'Maple Leaf Rag' by Scott Joplin, a passage (the exciting Spanish Waltz) from Walter Piston's 'The Incredible Flutist,' the finale of Copland's 'Billy the Kid,' the opening of Samuel Barber's luminous 'Knoxville - Summer of 1915,' 'Tonight' from Bernstein's 'West Side Story,' the opening of George Rochberg's masterful Violin Concerto, and John Adams's incredibly popular 'Short Ride in a Fast Machine.' Plus selections by Louis Moreau Gottschalk, Edward MacDowell, George Whitefield Chadwick, Amy Beach, Charles Tomlinson Griffes, Charles Wakefield Cadman, George Gershwin, George Antheil, Zez Confrey, William Schuman, John Cage, Gunther Schuller, Alan Hovhaness, Elliott Carter and Philip Glass. The performances are more than acceptable and in some instances ('Knoxville,' Rochberg's Violin Concerto) definitive.

I would heartily recommend this set (especially at its superbudget price) to anyone wanting to know more about the history of American classical music -- Scherer is a master of cogent, clear prose -- and wishing to hear examples of the broad range it has taken over the past couple of centuries. I can easily imagine this set being used in a music appreciation course. And I am sure it will spark interest in the newcomer to this branch of classical music.
