I haven't heard a CD from Najee in a long time and was given this one for a birthday present. My goodness! I L-O-V-E it! There is not one song on this CD that I don't love. Buying this CD will not disappoint you unless you just don't like great music. I can not wait to see what he has in store for us in the near future.

I ordered the product not knowing anything about this website or how secure it was. I was amazed! The turnaround was much more than I expected and the product was not at all damaged. Since then I have ordered about 5 or 6 more CD's and am also amazed at how fast the turnaround is. I would recommend this website to anyone!

5 out of 5 stars Consider things from another point of view.......2006-08-29

This is such a cool song. This song has it all. Good beat, the ability to dance to it, and I think that everyone who listens to this song can relate to the words in some way as well as benefit from them as well. the vocalist AKA Moony in my opinion when it comes to her style I just hope she puts out more music so that more people can recognize her talents. Great song and good cd.

    5 out of 5 stars Ultrawicked.......2004-12-22

I just can't think of the words to describe this. Loved it from the moment I heard it. Great dance track and even after 2 years I still love it and know exactly when the lasers should start the show!. This track also had the amazing ability to have a been a very commercial radio hit which surprisingly didn't detract from its clubbing brilliance. The Lange remix alone is worth the cost of this, however I bought it for less than $10 and am not sure I would pay the $59.99 being asked here. If that is all that is available then as much as I shouldn't I will say download it free on the web from somewhere, anywhere just get it.

    5 out of 5 stars Smooth.......2004-06-09

Wicked track, instantly hooked on the soothing vocals and smooth beats. Kylie Minogue - Love At First Sight, Pete Heller - Big Love, The Love Bite - Take Your Time, Modjo - Lady....if you love any of these tracks then DB's for you.

4 out of 5 stars My point of view.......2003-02-19

Point of View by DB Boulevard is one of the hotter Euro club smash of 2002 along with Iio's Rapture. Featuring Moony's soaring vocal, the song hails back to the good old days of early 90's Euro dance music without sounding overly passe. In fact, it's rather refreshing and the Lange remix here turns the song into hell of a monster dancefloor smash. Excellent!

5 out of 5 stars My Point of View: Best Song in a Long While.......2002-07-09

From the moment I first heard this song on the radio, I was hooked. Point of View is one of those rare songs that you'll be pleased to have stuck in your head.
I have been a fan of dance music for a long time, and Db Boulevard has delivered exactly what I crave the most with "Point of View," a catchy, energetic, beat driven song with fresh, meaningful lyrics, and beautiful vocals that you'd feel just as comfortable singing along with as dancing to.
This is a must have CD for the descriminating fan. "Point of View" has all the requirements of a broad-based hit single, only with the kind of originality and soul that generates real staying power, and earns it the distinction, in my not so humble opinion, of a true dance classic.
"Point of Veiw" is the kind of uplifting entertainment that I am always on the lookout for. When I hear this song, I can't stop smiling. Add it to your collection, and smile along with me!

In this 1963 recording session, pianist Herbie Hancock had a chance to work with a septet that could highlight his burgeoning skills as an arranger and composer. With Hancock's inventive sense of voicings already defined, it's a happy mix of inspired charts and spirited blowing that fuses the hard bop of trumpeter Donald Byrd and tenor saxophonist Hank Mobley with the bluesy approach of guitarist Grant Green and Hancock's own fluent soloing and incisive comping. Also notable is the explosive young drummer Tony Williams, who was already showing the distinctive fire that would soon ignite Miles Davis's band. The track "Blind Man, Blind Man" is a funky romp that clearly builds on Hancock's remarkable success with the earlier "Watermelon Man" and is a harbinger of the pop success he'd later enjoy with the Headhunters. --Stuart Broomer

    Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Herbie has his way (but not his piano).......2006-06-12

Simply put, "Blind Man, Blind Man" is an attempt to come up with another "Watermelon Man" and scarcely rates one listen, so the addition of the alternate take is hardly a bonus (though Mobley deserves some credit for coming up with a few things to say on a single Bb7 chord). The other tracks are highly worthy Hancock originals, full of unusual melody making and unexpected harmonies. "Tribute to Someone" contains a risk-taking yet complete and satisfying solo by Mobley, who also takes chances on "And What If I Don't," faltering a bit this time but still communicative.

"King Cobra" and "The Pleasure Is Mine" are showcases for Hancock's composing and arranging skills, his close harmonizations of the three horns producing some of the richest textures I've ever heard by him. Here Byrd, Mobley, and Moncur form a tight and responsive choir to the antiphonal statements of piano and guitar.

Recording engineer Van Gelder has always had a talent for making his horns sound bigger than life as well as for bringing out all of the sizzle and ring in a drummer's ride cymbal. But the sound of his pianos is always muffled and "bottled up," at best an acquired taste. On this recording, the trademark Van Gelder piano sound is more in evidence than ever. Frankly, I would like to be able to hear Herbie's own idea of how a piano should sound.

    5 out of 5 stars Herbie's Best.......2000-07-17

In my opinion, this is Herbie Hancock's best bluenote album. Blind Man, Blind Man is a rewrite of Watermellon Man, but the addition of guitar (Grant Green) and trombone (Grachan Moncur III) give the arrangement a more interesting edge. The next two songs, A Tribute To Someone and King Cobra are the best that Herbie ever wrote. Hank Mobley and Donald Byrd play beautiful on them. Mobley in particular, never sounded so pretty before or after as he does here. And Tony Williams, eighteen on this recording, plays with the maturity and restraint of someone 3 times his age.

A Tribute To Someone and King Cobra, to me, are better than anything Herbie Hancock ever recorded, solo or otherwise. That alone to me makes this record even more essential than Maiden Voyage or Emperyan Isles. The Pleasure is Mind is no Dolphin Dance and And What If I Don't is no Cantaloupe Island, but don't let that stop you from buying this. And don't let reviewers who dream of hearing Maiden Voyage Part II lead you to believe that My Point Of View is in any way inferior to anything Herbie ever recorded for bluenote. And as I mentioned before, if you are a fan of Hank Mobley (as I am) or Donald Byrd, both of them are in prime form. Mobley is at his best. Get the album.

4 out of 5 stars Enjoyable, but not Essential.......2000-07-14

Some nice, bluesy/funky writing, and good playing all around, but nothing spectacular. Despite the large group, the arrangements never get too busy. If you like Hancock, you'll like this CD, but it won't knock you off your feet like MAIDEN VOYAGE does.

3 out of 5 stars Decent But Unexceptional Session.......2000-03-29

"Blind Man, Blind Man" is a nice bluesy composition, and "King Cobra" is a decent bop tune. The album as a whole is less impressive than his first was, and not as impressive as the ones that followed, though there's nothing wrong with it per se.

    5 out of 5 stars A Brutha's Point of View.......2006-06-25

This is one for the collection..this release had it all for the upbeat music crowd and something for the quiet storm crowds. Shirley can sing...no arguement with that. but like so many R&B artist, she only really could get play on Black Radio, so her success was limited. The songs are timeless and still worth listening to so this would be a great cd for your collection in the long run..trust..

If you can check out Shirley's follow up to this album "Let There Be Love" which is extremly hard to find but worth looking for! As well as her Gospel debut "Home" which says it all!

    4 out of 5 stars A Must Have!!.......2005-07-18

If you are a Shirley Murdock fan, you HAVE to have this album. Her gospel-like soul is only spotlighted with the synthesized, 80s sound. "Husband," "If I Know," and "Spend My Whole Life" are prime examples of true soul. Truly wonderful.

2 out of 5 stars She Has A Great Voice! But Not longevitity.......2004-03-05

she has a great voice but were is she now. Just like most of the singer from the 80's they just dissapper

very soulful music. Can really relate to all of her songs.

5 out of 5 stars The Dynamic and Distinctive Shirley Murdock..........2000-06-16

....it is a day's trip down I-75 South from Murdock's hometown Toledo to Dayton, where Roger Troutman and his brothers/kinfolk who formed the band Zapp were headquartered. How they ever hooked up in the first place is quite a mystery because it's quite evident Ms. Murdock has those urban gospel pipes which perhaps would make her a better fit with Detroit's Clark Sisters than with Dayton's Roger/Zapp.

But, lo and behold, she started singing with the outfit and lent some distinctive vocals that were tit for tat with the vocoder work Roger did--in fact some of her own vocals sounded like they were vocoder-ized. I remember noticing her first on "Computer Love" sharing backgrounds and vocal fills with the Gap Band's Charlie Wilson.

Soon it came time for the Troutmans to give their vocal star a solo project. Album #1 "Shirley Murdock" has the great song "As We Lay", written with Ohio Player keyboardist Billy Beck, and quite a favorite jam in the R & B circles. It was so good that who is it...? one of Murdock's unofficial proteges Kelly Price has remade it.

This project, her 2nd solo, has a cut with an equally bad girl/good girl feel to it called "Husband" which I remember all the Sisters liked because they were really, really relating to it, dig? This CD is spiced with Murdock's fire and brimstone meets Erotic City vocals throughout-- she, like Chaka Khan, harmonizes to her own overdubs. Another favorite which came out of this CD is her duet with keyboardist Dale Degroat, "Spend My Whole Life With You".

Underrated, yes, she is. But listen to the airwaves nowadays and see how she has influenced a new generation of vocalists.

Share with children the excitement of language and help them improve word comprehension and powers of imagination with these lively lyrics and memorable melodies. These songs are written from a child's point of view: what a child wishes, feels and imagines. The lyrics deal in a thoughtful and humorous way with the joys, challenges and conflicts children experience in their growing years. Questions for discussion presented in the guide.

Hap Palmer's aesthetic is a strongly educational one. That said, he rarely is dogmatic. Instead, he makes a strong case for the physical enactment of songs--that is, the involvement of kids through games and sing-alongs. Turn on the Music began as a video of the same name and here lives on quite successfully as a series of 21 songs that pivot on the funniness of reversed meanings ("Backwards Land"), unconditional acceptance of other kids ("Francie Had a Football"), and workaday thrills around the house ("Helping Mommy in the Kitchen"). In the accompanying liner booklet there's a great map of the CD and suggested activities, with rules of games and ideas for extending the educational mission of the songs well beyond the CD. Palmer's got an ingenious idea for educating kids, and it shows here as well as anywhere in his catalog of releases. --Andrew Bartlett

5 out of 5 stars Hap Palmer does it again!.......2006-08-11

If you like other Hap Palmer albums, you will like this CD. It has a generous number of catchy tunes that you will find yourself singing all day long, despite your best efforts to get them out of your head. The songs have the signature Hap Palmer upbeat style, along with clever lyrics that are relevant to daily life with a small child.

The stand-out song on the album is "Amazing" - a lovely tune in the same vein as "What a Miracle." Other memorable songs include "Helping Mommy in the Kitchen," "Backwards Land" and the title track. Several of the songs address important issues like self esteem ("You Can Do It"), being true to yourself ("Francie Had a Football"), and dealing with frustration ("When Things Don't Go Your Way"). Still others tug at the hormonal heartstrings of us recent post-partum moms ("When Daddy Was a Little Boy," "Amazing" again). The remaining songs are just pure fun.

Give it a few listens to get the tunes imprinted into your brain - you'll be glad you did!

Hap Palmer is my kid's favorite and mine. It's great to find quality childrens music that doesn't try to sell itself with clown costumes and TV shows. For anyone who has kids and wants to ENJOY listening to quality music with them, Hap Palmer is the guy.

      5 out of 5 stars A True Classic.......2006-06-30

I first heard "A Songwriter's Point of View" in 1993 and immediately fell in love with the high energy of this CD. Donald Lawrence led the Tri-City Singers with true style and grace and I felt God on many of the songs. My favorites are "You Encourage my Soul", "The Mender" and Miracles. With help from Stephanie Mills and Peabo Bryson, Donald created a true masterpiece that is still a "must-have" for today.

      5 out of 5 stars The Beginning..............2006-04-30

This is the first album recorded by Donald Lawrence and the Tri-City singers. I remember when I first heard the song Miracles on the radio I instantly fell in love with the harmonious, flawless sound of this choir. And I had to purchase this album. Well that was approximately 15 years ago and I have been a Donald Lawrence/Tri-City fan ever since; having purchased all of their albums as well as his solo project (I Speak Life).

Donald Lawrence is truly a gifted, talented young man who is just one of the best writers, producers, and arrangers of gospel music of all time. The Tri-City Singers are by far the best sounding choir in the history of gospel music. And I do not make this statement lightly -- yes there have always been good/great sounding choirs out there (Thompson Community, New G, LA Mass, etc.), but, TCS are just a notch above the rest. Their sound simply cannot be duplicated; it is unmistakable and it is breathtaking.

And this is where it all begin. If you have purchased any of his projects you would want to get this one to complete your collection.

If you are a gospel music fan you should know that the era of the Tri-City Singers has come to end with the release of Finale Acts I and II. Only 2 of the songs from this their first album made it on the finale -- so you have to hear the rest.

There wasn't any information on Amazon about this album when I bought it, other than the title and the performer, Don Shirley. For me, the latter information is sufficient. As usual, Shirley brings his inimitable style to whatever he does. In this case, he is magnificently complimented by outstanding cello and bass work (James Boyd, Juri Taht, and Kenneth Fricker) in this 1972 release. As usual, the music is interpreted in an entirely new and amazing way. As usual, you will realize that you've never really heard this music before.

      Following are the selections:

      1. The Warning
      2. Carry Me Back to Old Virginny

Though you have only one of these available, the person who gets it will be in for quite a treat. As I have said, this has been a love affair of long-standing, so much so, that I married his brother 37+ years ago!! This man is a genius (Dr. Shirley, I mean...but his brother's no dummy, either (look who he married!)
Each time I hear one of his pieces, it's new, fresh and absolutely scintillating!

You must check out the newest CD..."Home With Don Shirley". Truly brilliant and another statement of his genius.

CD Enhancement: Video of "A Kid's Point Of View"

Born in Columbia, South Carloina, Dijon Prileau, aka Dijon, brings us his debut album A Kid's Point Of View. A Kid's Point of View is a well-balanced album highlighting the typical life of a teenager trying to cope with insecurities and change. Tracks like "Pressures," "Real Love, " and "He Is Lord" deliver the hard -edged beats so loved by teens while providing Christian-based-lyrics- a timely feat considering the charge by parents and community leaders to provide more positive- and less explicit! - messages for our youth. Co-produced by Todd Muhammad, this album is sure to be enjoyed by all generations.
