About the Artist
Dave's interest in music dates back to as early as the singer can remember. He didn't realize that he wanted to play music until he got his first AC/DC album at age 10. Dave relates that "Dirty Deeds swayed my fragile mind to come over to the dark side." He was hooked, and music became a passion as opposed to an interest.
Dave began singing because he never had the patience to learn an instrument. "I figured that anyone could make sounds with their mouth and that singing would be a shortcut. Unfortunately, I wasn't born with much natural talent, and it took a long time before people could stomach me."
Dave picked the guitar up at the age of 17. He had not yet found a band, and realized that he needed some kind of instrument to start writing songs. "Vocals by themselves are boring as shit!" He learned a few chords, but could never become motivated enough to become a good guitar player. Not until Laughing Colors formed did he pick up the guitar again, and then only because there was an old acoustic sitting in the basement of the house in which the band practiced. Dave began to play a few songs with it, and then found himself writing with it more and more. Dave admits that most of what he knows on the guitar came from playing with the band or from Corey showing him how to do things. "If I remembered half of the stuff [he's] taught me I could be a bad ass, but..."
Product Description
Acoustic album recorded live at Coconuts on August 13, 2001 by Ryan Beck. Solo acoustic guitar with a funny ass vocal track that grabs your attention. A good mix of comedy and serious songs that showcase the talent of Dave. It's just funny and creative as hell.
