Nashvilles' Best Kept Secret.......2002-12-30
To those of you out there who have never heard the beautiful, soulful, kickin, sounds of Nashvilles Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies, I feel sorry for you!!! I was first turned on to the band in '93 with their self titled debut, and immediatly was blown away by the tightness and uniqueness of the sound. From the opening riff in "Ride the Tide" I was hooked!!! Live Vol. 1&2, recorded at 328 Performance Hall, Nashville Tn.,Feb. 12, 2000, was a benefit concert for the Matthew Butler Foundation, which provides training and support for people with disabilties, to live normal lives. The lucky fans who were there were treated to three full sets of the Wheelies, performing all three studio albums, in running order. Disc 1 features the self titled first album.. after an intro from jazz great Jimmy Hall the band tears into "Shakin the Blues" and the SCW prove that they are as tight a live unit as a studio band.. I can't really pick a favorite track because they are all great... Disc 2 features tracks from the Magnolia disc, which is one of the best rock albums of the '90s. Again every track smokes!!! Several tracks are omitted from each album , and the entire third set was never released because the band felt they may have had too many "spirits" that evening. Bottom Line: SCW's are the best live band out there... hands down!! Do yourself a favor and buy all their releases...PEACE!!
SCW RULE.......2001-09-30
A great live effort from a great band, they will always be one on my favorite bands.
One Of The Best Rock/Blues/Funk/Soul Jam Bands Ever.......2001-07-03
It's a mystery to me (and all the other Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies fans that I've met at their live shows since 1993) why this band is not more popular. While the music on their studio albums is some of the most soulful ever recorded, hearing them live is an almost religious experience. This double CD set is a perfect testament to their dedication and power. Rick White and Bobby Watkins are two of the best duelling lead guitarists that you've never heard of. Steve Burgess is one major league funky bass player and Terry Thomas does some things on his drumkit that defy description. As incredible as these four masters are, the lead singer, harp player and sometimes guitarist is a phenomenon unto himself. Imagine Jim Morrison mixed with Stevie Ray Vaughan then add a dash of Joe Cocker having a drink with Marvin Gaye and you've got the near holy vocals of Mike Farris. When he sings, you feel like God is standing backstage listening in. This 2 CD set captures their live show as well as possible without actually standing right in front of the stage. While every song is worth extended replays, stand-outs include "Leave Your Pride", "I Found Love", "Magnolia" and (my personal favorite) "Father Speaks". I can't say enough about this album. You will be very pleased by what you hear.

For their third album, these Nashville boys expand their boogie-blues/rock roots. "Julie's Song" playfully sports a poppy Beatlesque touch, while "Dragon Park" hints at jazz. But no matter where these guys stretch their wings creatively, they always return home to the South. Take "Groove Me," for example, where pummeling, almost heavy metal rhythm head-butts with smooth '60s soul. Or the ballad "It Ain't Nothin'," which is pure class with a country twang. Singer Mike Farris may put his trust in the Lord, as evidenced by the introspective "Standing in the Sun," but he also proudly struts his stuff on "Boogie King" and investigates the dark side on the tortured "More Than I Can Take." Big Wheel has many facets, all of them fascinating. --Janiss Garza

Incredible Band Incredible Album.......2005-12-09
I saw this band (in Tucson) open for Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top. I have been a LONGTIME Skynyrd and ZZ Top fan, HOWEVER the Screaming Cheetah Wheelies OWNED the stage. Funky, rocking, emotional, impossible to sit still is how I would describe the band. This album, is their best and has something for everyone...emotional, well-written songs that MOVE, and some of the most beautiful guitar playing EVER. Enjoy.
screamin cheetah wheelies-Big wheel.......2005-09-12
wonderfull, wonderfull record. One of the best record of the 90's. Perfect production and sound, beautifull lyrics.Swamp-boggie rock and roll style. If tou never listen this record, please take a few minutes to enjoy it.
Who the heck are the SCW?????.......2005-03-29
Newcomers listen up! These guys are great. If you do not own any of SCW cd's..start with this one and work your way back. If you have been directed to this site due to recommended listening lists or whatever, roll your dice and gamble on this last CD. I did and went back and bought all the others.
SCW remind me a bit of Black Crowes, but more influenced by R&B than the straight forward rock of the BC. SCW tend to break into jams throughout thier songs, hence the not-so-friendly radio format, and lack of airplay. But that is the listening publics loss....at least you can make up your own mind on CD purchases. These guys are great. If anyone out there gets this cd, and listens to "grace", and does not agree that this one song alone is worth the purchase price...email me. And there is so much more here, great rockin tunes and jams. Do you here the Van Morrison references??? Get it and enjoy.
MAYBE THE BEST BAND I'VE EVER HEARD.......2003-05-20
i have all three albums and i must say i'm surprised i haven't worn them out yet. they are hands down the best band i've ever seen live.. including a 4-hour two-set jam in nyc. i just wish get back together and record another album. Trust me, if you get any of their stuff you won't be disappointed.
Pure Entertainment !.......2001-02-18
These guys never cease to amaze me. All three of thier albums are full of heart and talent. They give a whole spectrum of rockin' blues to listeners on this album. I was fortunate enough to see SCW live in Nashville on thier first two albums. These guys are the epitome of live entertainment. They put thier heart and souls into thier music, and it shows on this and the other two albums.

Seatle did not have all the good bands.......2006-02-22
What a time to work in R-n-R radio (I formerly worked for WSFL)! So many great bands...Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Arc Angels, Cry of Love...blues based rock was alive and well...very gritty and down to the bone. SCW was a favorite for airplay. Then I saw them live...wow! After the show I met Robert Kearns of Cry of Love (he was there just to see the show along with Audley Freed, now with the Black Crowes & a member of Corrosion of Conformity). We went backstage and met the "boys". We all went out and had a good time (I will not give too many details). They (SCW), along with BHT & the Monsters had opened for The Allman Brothers. Well the concert was in Raleigh (that is why Cry of Love and Corrosion of Conformity was there...both bands from Raleigh). We "stole" a golf cart at the venue (the staff saw this and approved). We ended up at a night club and were admitted free along with drinks. This is where it got a little fuzzy. Greg Alman also showed up and he and the lead singer (Mike) for the Wheelies played with the house band for a couple of songs, including a rendition of "Midnight Rider" that had Greg playing electric guitar.. What a show! Now back to the purpose of the review. If you love blues oriented rock this album is a must have in your collection. Not something you have to think about but one you MUST have! So press "Add to Cart" now...do not hesitate and once it arrives...enjoy! To me it was bands like this that made music of the 1990's memorable.
VERY GOOD DESPITE ....................2004-02-12
The musik is so infectious and driving that even the lead singer cannot murder these recordings despite giving it a very good try. Don't get me wrong, this guy has got a great voice it's just the endless and meaningless vocal accrobatics that really get on my nerves. He sounds almost hysterical at times and it is the stopping that he has trouble with. Just when the forward button comes into reach , the band rescues the show with another sublime burst of pure ROCKING BLUES, wailing guitars and driving rythms. This is my second WHEELIES CD and both have a permanent place on the playing roster despite the singer. My wife screams for me to get it off the system as the singer goes into another hysterical outburst of WHOOOAAASS and WHOOOOPS. I have to comply for the sake of domestic bliss and have to wait for the isolation of the car for my next WHEELIES fix.
Amazing Rock n Roll.......2004-02-08
Simply one of the greatest rock n roll bands around today. Don't miss their albums and don't miss their shows. Pick one album, buy it and you'll soon find yourself purchasing the rest.
*Highlight - Live Vol. 1 & 2. "Majestic into Moses Brown"
Start Getting Funky Today!.......2003-07-28
These Nashville boys can really boogie. You can't put a label on these groovy cats. They're funk, blues, jazz, rock, all in one. Their music will pick you up and have you dancing one minute and then the next minute you'll be back in the chair pondering to yourself. SCW is extremely talented, and lead singer Mike Farris has incredible vocals, a soulful singer with an unique sound. Many others have discussed how they can't believe that these guys aren't huge. I agree... they're simply amazing. This CD, along with Big Wheel, and Magnolia are all incredible. If you're into a southern style jam band rock with a major twist of blues, then I'd definately consider this album
Superb album.......2003-06-07
This is just a fantastic album all around. It is a great mix of slow and fast tunes, with great instrumentals thrown in. "Moses Brown", and "Sister Mercy" are definite high points of the album. I highly recommend it.

...then go ahead and add this one to your Amazon shopping cart now! A friend took me to see this band and I was a fan from the first notes. 10 years later I look back with regret that these guys didn't get the radioplay and recognition that they deserved. This is one of the most underrated rock albums of the 90's. "Backwoods Travelin'" grabs you immediately with a funky southern groove reminiscent of the Allman Brothers...."Hello From Venus" and "Magnolia" are simply two of the best rock songs you haven't heard or haven't heard enough, period. Unfortunately these guys aren't together anymore. Our loss. Get this while it's still available!
Deserted Island Good .......2005-11-18
This cd is a classic. The fact that it came out almost 10 years ago and I feel compelled to write about it today says alot. There really isn't a bad track on it, but I have to say my two favorites by far (in order) are Gypsey Lullaby and Hello From Venus. I can't really add much here that hasn't already been said in previous reviews because I agree with everything they express (except the one idiot who gave it 2 stars or the one who wines about too many vocal acrobatics - I can't disagree more, as I think the lead singer has such a unique voice that is so soulful, melodic and powerful.) The musicianship is off the charts and the vocals and lyrics are equally impressive and thoughtful. This one makes my deserted island must have list for sure.

Screamin Cheatah Wheelies.......2004-11-11
This is a great rock group that didnt sell enough albums due to a lack of radio play and promotion. Fantastic album. Grass roots, word of mouth band that many people have missed out on. I have heard them clssified as "nothing more than a bar band". They are much more than that. This music rocks. It is so un-pretentious and real that you wont stop listening to it once you give it a spin. The song writing and musicianship is great. Trust me. If you like great rock music and want to impress your friends as well as find something that not everyone has, get into the Wheelies.

GREAT ROCK CD.......2004-02-13
Almost all reviews are correct. Great classic rock that will stand the test of time. Great playing, outstanding songs and a great varity of material. MAGNOLIA is almost worth the price alone, but there really isn't one bad track on this CD. Just one thing spoils the fun to some extent and that's the singers total lack of subtlty. He obviously hates to be quite and it shows. Even when it isn't called for he fills all spaces available to him with over the top vocal stylings ( often totaly out of context with the song ). I have 2 SCW cd's and they both suffer from this affliction. These would both be 5 star offerings if they could quiten the singer down when he isn't required. Unfortunately I had to take this of the WIFE FRIENDLY list in my collection. She can't get past the singing to get to the very good bits. Looking at the very low 2nd hand prices, it seems other people have the same problem. If it wasn't for the singing this band would almost be guaranteed greater success.

A Classic.......2005-12-23
Mike Farris is one of Rock's best singer/songwriters and it seems that nobody knows it. Although this solo effort is much more subdued than his work with his former band - the Screaming Cheetah Wheelies - it might just be his best. The acoustic guitar work allows the listener to really absorb and appreciate his soulful, moving vocals as well as his lyric writing talents. There are so many great songs on this cd. It would be the perfect selection for a long drive through the countryside or through mountains on a warm sunny day. Enjoy!
Sublime!.......2005-12-06
His first solo album track "Sublime" define his job.
What a lot of soul!!! Incredible melodys, depp words and his amazing black voice...
Poor of me! I missed his two concerts in Spain this year, I think the only thing I can do is put on "Know Good Know How" on my car-cd and drive hundreds miles watchin' the sky and smile...
What a voice.......2005-12-03
If you have never heard the Screaming Cheetah Wheelies, then you owe it to yourself to get this cd and all the other SCW cd's. This guy is one of the best front men I have ever heard. I have had the pleasure of also seeing them live and he sounds just as good live as he does on the albums if not better.

Product Description
The exclusive Sponge sessions, live acoustic performances recorded March, 1999. Not many bands rocked the alternative/hard rock music scene throughout the mid and late 90's better than Detroit's own Sponge. The band blew into the national music scene in 1994 with their debut album Rotting Piñata, which featured possibly their biggest hits to date in Plowed and Molly (16 Candles). Their highly anticipated follow up album was released in 1996 and did not disappoint fans, as it contained the smash title track Wax Ecstatic and well known tune Have You Seen Mary.
