Shrek 2 [Enhanced] [Soundtrack]
Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
It's a pleasant surprise when a Hollywood sequel actually rivals the artistic success of its inspiration, but that's exactly what Dreamworks' second computer animated skewering of the classic fairy tale canon does with consistent wit and charm. It boasts a vibrant song-score (Harry Gregson-Williams' slyly humorous orchestral soundtrack is also available) to match, one that bristles with even more eclectic pop energy than the original, if not quite as many left-field surprises. There are takes on love with a contemporary edge from Eels and Dashboard Confessional, as well as more traditional romantic ballads from Joseph Arthur and Counting Crows, while veterans Tom Waits and Nick Cave offer up slices of their own typically moody melancholia. Covers of Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out For A Hero" (in a dry techno revamp by Frou Frou) and Bowie's "Changes" (with a cameo by the author himself lighting up an otherwise mundane version) are also featured, though neither reaches the loopy orbit of Antonio Banderas and Eddie Murphy trashing Ricky Martin's kitsch-iconic "La Vida Loca." --Jerry McCulley

While it lacks some of the innocent charm of Pixar's similarly oceanic-themed Finding Nemo, Dreamworks' computer animated fish opera works from a more adult source, spoofing Coppola's The Godfather with an impressive array of all-star vocal talents. Its soundtrack may be one of the film's most consistently successful elements, a party-ready mix of contemporary r&b and hip-hop lite. Two of the highlights here are rooted in a 1970s disco groove: Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliott take a slinky cruise through a beat-drenched take on "Car Wash," while Cheryl Lynn's "Got to Be Real" is given a soul-pumped turn by Mary J. Blige (featuring a new rap break by star Will Smith and healthy samples of Lynn's original). Other standouts include fan 3's infectious "Digits," the pop-reggae inflected "Three Little Birds" by Sean Paul and Ziggy Marley, India Arie's dusky, seductive "Get It Together" and the Ludacris workout "Gold Digger." An excerpt from Hans Zimmer's antic, suitably tongue-in-cheek orchestral underscore closes the collection out. --Jerry McCulley

great soundtrack .......2006-10-19
this is an awesome soundtrack my favorite song in it is Secret Love by jojo i love that song!
Okay..........2006-06-17
The songs were good, but some songs were, well, horrible, to tell you the truth. One of them is "Secret Love" by JoJo. The vocals were good, but the song wasn't. Got to be real wasn't so good either! Or Digits.
Pretty Good.......2006-04-06
While the soundtrack is both fun sounding and relates to the movie, I would only download the really standout tracks. The Carwash Song was pretty good. It was also kind of funny to hear "Lies and Rumors" by D12, listening to thier album "D12 World", it seems they wouldn't have anything to do with this type of a movie soundtrack. There are also good songs by Will Smith, Jojo, Avant, and Sean Paul & Ziggy Marley

Another great trip down the MFU memory lane.......2005-10-19
Volume 2 (comprised of 2 CDs) is another first rate compilation of the series' original music and not to be missed by U.N.C.L.E. fans. The liner notes are wonderful and add a lot to ones appreciation of the music.
My only problem is that THE CDs ARE COPY PROTECTED! Considerable work is needed to get the music onto your iPod, if you really want the music in your mp3 collection. This is a major hassle and a surprise, since the first set in the series was not copy protected.
The best of the three Double CDs ORIGINAL soundtrack release.......2005-07-12
Many of us have always thought The Man From UNCLE had the best music for a TV series ever, and this three double CD release confirms this. Wow! I'd be just happy with one CD, but having SIX (three double CDs packages) is absolutely out of this world, I mean, a lifetime wait come true.
Indeed, this is an unbelievable collection of three double CDs packages with the complete series soundtrack, and I mean the complete music, not a tune is missing.
And this is the ORIGINAL Man From Uncle music. Let me stress the point: this is the four years ORIGINAL soundtrack with the original recordings as they were heard throughout the series, not a no-name orchestra doing personal versions of the stuff. The audio transfer is very, very good, the music from late episodes is even in stereo.
Each individual CD carries over 70 minutes of music. All in all there you have the four TV seasons main titles and all, absolutely all of TMFU unforgetable music.
This is not a chronological release, meaning, all CDs have a mix of music from all four TV seasons. Volume 1 is heavier on early TV seasons stuff, fans of Jerry Goldsmith will love it. Those of us who prefer what Gerald Fried and later Richard Shores did with TMFU music, then volume 2 is mandatory. If you are a fan, you can't miss any of these six CDs. However if buying all three double packages is too much for you, you must go with Volume 2, no questions asked. Volume three is the weakest of them as it brings "suites" and a whole CD with "The Girl From Uncle" soundtrack, but you have a bonus "Open Channel D" beeper.
Each package is gorgeous, each with a glossy color booklet with extensive liner notes with details on how each tune was written to a specific TV series episode and how it was used onwards. You have bios on the composers, on how the recordings were made, even an overview on how many instruments were available in each of the years the music was recorded.
So, throw away your Hugo Montenegro Man From Uncle CD, this is the REAL thing.

Album Description
The story of Max, a 10-year-old outcast, who escapes his lonely world when his dreams magically come to life. Shunned by his classmates and forced to spend his summer vacation alone, Max and his two imaginary friends, Shark Boy, a half-breed of boy and shark who was raised by great whites, and Lava Girl, with flaming hair and hands that melt everything she touches, embark on a mission to prove to the world that all it takes is a dream to make anything a reality.
Director Robert Rodriguez reunites with composers John Debney ("Spy Kids," "The Passion of the Christ," "Sin City") and Graeme Revell ("Sin City," "The Crow") to create an exciting, all-new score for his latest film adventure.

Album Description
"Dreamworld: Music Inspired by The Matrix" is a musical journey probing the philosophical questions: "Which pill would you choose?", "What is real?", "What is freedom and do we really have it?", "Is some dark force controlling us in a matrix?". It explores the depth of the films religious and metaphysical connotations.
Each song is delivered to make a sonic representation of these themes. Producer ZED.NAN.REH worked deeply with each artist to insure these themes would weave into the fabric of the record. So it is not a compilation of random artists contributing songs, but more like a screenplay of sounds directed by ZED.NAN.REH, each song building toward the climax of the record and finally resolving at the end.
"Dreamworld" is a concept record, with musical styles ranging from industrial, electronica, trip hop, techno and house/trance; all tightly woven to feel like a non-stop sonic journey through the matrix of the mind.
Customer Reviews:
Inspired by...... what?.......2006-11-29
I'm fine with music soundtracks that are "inspired by...", or their musical score, but this is neither. It's a random collection of songs that doesn't fit any themes/moods of the Matrix movies. The songs aren't even done very well. I wasted at least 10 minutes of my life downloading this from Limewire. It was deleted soon after. I'd give it no stars if I could.
Ouch........2005-08-23
Not to be blunt, or brutal, or unfair, but rather to be succint: this record sucks. It's filled by music of third-rate wannabes and does not live up to the standard of quality set by other Matrix media. I threw it away.
Different than the originals...very intelligent.......2005-08-17
This is one of the best cd's released in its category! The songs blend together in a virtual journey through space and time!!!This cd will take you where you've never been before...like the Matrix, it is deep, philosophical and with concepts that really open your eyes...and of course your ears :) Listen to it more then once--get into it; you'll see the truth and the powerful message behind it. A MUST HAVE!!!don't skip this one--great blend of tunes--original, unique--you will not regret it, I PROMISE.
This is a very well thought out compilation. The first part is very ethereal downtempo, while the second half is a bangin' in your face techno driven masterpiece. This work is a nice contrast to the original soundtracks. A GREAT ADDITION to any matrix' fans collection.
WARNING: NOT FOR THE INTELECTUALLY CHALLENGED
This is the best I have ever heard in this genre of CD music. The music is out of this world....very intense. Very different in a great way! I hope Zednanreh will be releasing more stuff like this. He captures the feeling of the movie very well. He is more unique than the soundtracks are. They just give the standard run of the mill "artists of the month" to sell the CD's.
It helped me to understand the content of the movie even better.
I highly recommend this not only to matrix fans, but fans of 2012 prophecy and global conspiracy theorists as well. Lovers of chill out, techno, and house - even industrial will also praise this cd.
Very deep concepts that seem to be inspired by the writings of David Icke as much as the matrix! David icke himself expands on the matrix concepts. check out his web site [...]and see the interwoven themes between icke, zednanreh and the Matrix trilogy. Well done... The song titles and artists even carry the theme....ingenious!

The production quality is almost as bad as the depressingly awful music. Don't be fooled folks. The "artistic" hacks may love it, but beauty is TRUELY in the eye of the beholder. If you enjoyed the awesome first 3 soundtracks; don't waste your money on this one expecting more of the same.
Instead you will receive a CD chocked full of unimaginative (i.e. high-schoolers without talent playing on their home computers) techno and "spoken word" type lyrics that are laughably bad (but only if you didn't shell out $13.99 to listen to them).
I'm now the proud owner of a $14.00 coaster, b/c that's about all it's good for
