While it's cast largely in the same musical mold as its winning predecessor, there's a more palpable sense of romantic melancholy wafting through this soundtrack to the further misadventures of Rene Zelwegger's lovably hapless, love-triangulated Bridget. Though still aimed at adult contemporary tastes, it's also imbued with a healthier dose anglocentric cool via tracks like Jamelia's torchy "Stop," Will Young's elegant take on Sade's "Your Love is King," teenaged Alfie contributor Joss Stone's soulful "Super Duper Love" and the ubiquitous Kylie Minogue's teasing "Can't Get You Out of My Head." Mary J. Blige offers up a stark, melodramatic cover of Elton John's "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word" while Rufus Wainwright (with Dido) turns Anna McCarrigle's (Wainwright's mother) "I Eat Dinner" into an emotive centerpiece. What about the song that was playing when Bridget was in the water tripping on mushrooms? I LOVE that song! And I don't know the name of it or who does it. I listen to the clips here and it's not there!

I actually got this CD because I LOVED the song "I Eat Dinner (When the hunger's gone)" when I heard it in the movie, and was so pleasantly surprised by the remainder of the soundtrack - I really enjoy Jamelia's 'Stop', and Mary J. Blige's cover of "Sorry seems to be the hardest word" is truly a portrait of painful sadness... I could go on about each song, but overall this soundtrack truly accomplishes what it set out to do - which is to tell the story of Bridget through song.... and it's A LOT of fun to listen to along the way!

Good mix of music from different genres with some songs "covered" by newer artists. They do a good job of re-doing ths songs in their own way without losing the original integrity of the song. Fun to listen to in the car while dealing with rush hour!

    I will admit that some of the artist on this album gave original songs new life. It is rare to love every song in a soundtrack and in this, the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack of Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason, excels.

    Each song seems to have been selected to create a dreamy mood and even when a few more energetic songs like the breathlessly sexy "Can't Get You Out of My Head," "I Believe in A Thing Called Love" or Sting's "We'll Be Together" break through the evening mood, the volume is still at a level where it fits into the mood of all the selections and gives this CD a satisfying variety. In fact, after listening to this the first time, the songs all seemed different on a second listen. This Soundtrack is perfect for times when you want to relax, write in your own diary/journal or just sink into dreams of love.

    True romantics will enjoy everything from the delicate "Lovin' You" to the jazzy "Everlasting Love" (U2 Classic). Many of the songs seem to have been newly recorded and so even if you have all these songs, the new variation is musically enchanting. Bernie Taupin's lyrics and Mary J. Blige's voice in "Sorry Seems To Be the Hardest Word" seem to be made for each other. I also enjoyed Will Young's cover of "Your Love Is King." Originally by Sade Adu. Jamelia's smooth and sultry cover of Stop! (Sam Brown) is inspirational and made me want to go out and buy the original album.

    One of the best soundtracks I've found this year because the mood is dreamy and all the lyrics are meaningful.

She was born in London and cleverly captures Bridget's moments of nostalgia, her excitement for life and her beautiful hopeful attitudes.
