Inspired by the lovable Saturday Night Live white-boy blues schtick of Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi, director John Landis seemingly threw every harebrained stunt he could imagine--and millions of dollars in production costs and wrecked autos--onto the screen. The resulting film could have been mistaken for a bad case of Hunter S. Thompson's D.T.'s, but Landis never shortchanged the music: Cab Calloway, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, and Ray Charles all get their moment in the spotlight. Miraculously, the chic-shabby Blues Brothers, anchored by the Stax rhythm section of Cropper and Dunn, hold their own against the legends, perhaps by the sheer joy and love they have for the music. --Jerry McCulley

A Tribute To The Blues Brothers.......2000-07-16
When I put the disk on my CD player and began to listen, I realised what a great mistake I had made. This album is a true sleeper; if enough people find out about it it could develop a cult following just like the original movie did. This music, and especially it's performance, is fantastic. The sound is superb and the arrangements are as good as I have heard.
My favorite is "Under the Boardwalk"; if you grew up in this era I guarantee it will bring a tear to your eye. I have an old copy of this song on record and there is no doubt that this is a superior rendition; the sound is much better (of course) but the performance just blows away the original. There is not one song on this album that I don't like.
I own over a hundred CD's as well as hundreds of records (classical, rock, jazz, folk, etc) and not one of them is as highly regarded as this one. Highly recomended.
