A Cinderella Story [Soundtrack]

a cinderella story [soundtrack]

Editorial Reviews
Product Description
"A Cinderella Story" collects some of the biggest performers in pop, but the highlights are certainly the four new Hilary Duff tracks (a cover of the Go Go's "Our Lips Are Sealed," "Crash World," "The Girl Can Rock" and "Now You Know." (The disc also includes "Anywhere But Here," a track from Duff's triple-platinum bow, "Metamorphosis.")

Other performances on "A Cinderella Story" include two songs from Radio Disney star Jesse McCartney (star of the WB's "Summerland"), and tracks from Goo Goo Dolls ("Sympathy"), Jimmy Eat World ("Hear You Me") and MxPx ("First Day of the Rest of Our Lives").

5 out of 5 stars Awesome!.......2007-03-19

I really love the songs on this CD, especially 2,3,10 and 12.
Those are just my favorites.

Love the movie, and most of the music off of it, so knew I'd love the CD.

Fabulous!

I LOVE THIS SOUNDTRACK AND ADORE THE MOVIE !!! IT HAS JESSE McCARTNEY AND HILARY DUFF !!! One OF MY TOP TEN FAVES !!

4 out of 5 stars Good, Modern Soundtrack.......2006-05-20

Considering how poppy and teeny-bopperish A Cinderella Story was, one could expect very little difference in the soundtrack. True, Hilary Duff and Jesse McCartney, a.k.a. Jesse McCrap, have more than one single each, but overall, the soundtrack has some pretty good, well-chosen tunes. It starts off on a high note with Hilary and Haylie Duff's solid rendition of the GoGo's Our Lips Are Sealed and ends on a higher note with the Simple Plan-like head-banger First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life by MXPX. Althought Hilary has one of the most wimpy and mousy voices in pop music today, in my opinion, some of her best songs are featured on this soundtrack, such as the seriously good Now You Know and Crash World, argurably her best song next to Fly. Other good songs to mention: Girl Can Rock (from Hilary's third album, Most Wanted) The Best Day Of My Life by Jesse McCrap, er. McCartney, yes, believe it or not (good song), Friend by Kaitlyn, and Fallen by Mya.
This soundtrack is for either: (1) A pop music lover and die-hard fan of Hilary Duff and Jesse McCartney (2) An insightful music critic who needs some serious bubble-gum tunes or (3) A ballad or pop music lover alike that just enjoys the music and buys it for that alone, not because Hilary and her uber-annoying sister Haylie's names are plastered all over the front and back of the cover. Below are my song ratings for each track:
1. Hilary & Haylie Duff, Our Lips Are Sealed: Pretty well done, better-than-expected job with this mega-hit. 3/5
2. Hilary Duff, Anywhere But Here: It's OK. I loved it when I first heard it and about 30 more times after that, but now, the zillionth time I've heard it, it's wearing off. 4/5
3. Jesse McCartney, The Best Day Of My Life: Surprisingly, I like this one, and I absolutely despise Jesse McCrap. The reason being, any male singer or boy band could sing this and I would love it just the same. 5/5
4. Hilary Duff, Girl Can Rock: When I first heard this song, I thought it was the bomb. Hilary was finally starting to get an edge! It kinda wore off a little bit, but it's still not all that bad. 4/5
5. Hilary Duff, Now You Know: By far one of Hilary's best songs! I LOOOOOOOOVE this one! The tune, the beat, the words, EVERYTHING! This CD is worth buying just for this one alone. 5/5
6. Haylie Duff, One In This World: I guess this one is alright. Haylie doesn't have the mousy voice of Hilary, but she's not a Kelly Clarkson either. She's annoying in a different kind of way. This one is so,so: not really all that bad, not all that great, but still falls under the file labed SOUPED-UP, WATERED DOWN BLAH-BLAH POP. 2/5
7. Hilary Duff, Crash World: I this is argurably Hilary's best song! She should have released it as a single or at least have had it on one of her albums. Awesome edge; almost Avril Lavigne-esque. 5/5
8. Josh Kelley, To Make You Feel My Love: This is an OK song. It appeals to ballad/pop lovers. If you generally like this soundtrack's style of music, this one won't disappoint you. 2/5
9. Goo Goo Dolls, Sympathy: Sympathy is an OK song as well. It's one of those that makes this album good and easy to listen to, but like number 8, I won't be hitting the REPEAT button any here when I play this soundtrack through. 3/5
10. Kaitlyn, Friend: Way, way cool song! It starts off kind of wimpy but gets better and you'll be singing along with it. In case you recall, it was played during the football scene in the movie. 4/5
11. Jesse McCartney, Beautiful Soul: Why, oh why did they put this junk that some people have the nerve to call talent and make this so-far OK soundtrack take several steps backward? Because 12-year-old girls from all across America visit Wal-Mart pretty frequently, that's why. (Sigh!) And to think that they used up a song space here and filled it with this junk?! Even I could have thought of a million better suggestions! 1/5
12. Edwin McCain, I'll Be: This is a pretty popular love song that got frequent radio airplay and suits the tone of the CD well. It doesn't make up for the erroneous and hideous music track, if you can even call it that, that is number 11, but it's nowhere near as bad. 3/5
13. Fallen, Mya: Finally! Something to make up for number 11! This hip, fresh R & B song is one of my favorites on this soundtrack. 4/5
14. MXPX, First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life: I think, personally, that this song is the best song on this soundtrack! It's very Simple Plan-ish in nature, and you'll be more than bopping your head, you'll be dancing as well. It was a very smart decision on the executive's or whoever's part it was here to save the best song for last, just so people can forget about number 11 and end on a happy note with happy thoughts. 5/5

4 out of 5 stars INSTRUMENTAL.......2006-04-23

I have been looking for the instrumental no words version of I'll Be - Edwin McCain...and it is impossible to find

The scene where Hilary duff is outside with Chad M Murray and the lady with the violin and the guy start playing it..then the cello...etc.etc..

that song is not avaliable anywhere..

Don't be misled by the film's trailers; the soundtrack to Ever After--yet another modern adaptation of a Cinderella story--is an orchestral score by George Fenton. Best known for his work on Gandhi and The Fisher King, Fenton has created a sweeping orchestral score, with the occasional Celtic influences thrown in, as on "Cinderella" or the upbeat "Going to the Ball." But on most tracks Ever After's score is quiet and subtle. Though Fenton has done more memorable work (Cry Freedom), he succeeds here in accentuating the romance of the film. Brit soft-rockers Texas provide the lone vocal track on the score with the infectious closing tune "Put Your Arms Around Me." --Jason Verlinde

5 out of 5 stars Fantasy in full bloom!!!!!!!!.......2006-12-29

This story to me is by far one of my favorites. It takes you off into a magical place in your mind. It is so well written that you actually place yourself into the story. The castles are my favorite. I too included castles in my book "Fallacious" and find them mesmerizing. This is a must see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3 out of 5 stars Very Beautiful Music!.......2005-12-15

This is a very beautiful soundtrack. My Friends and I love the movie, so we REALLY like the soundtrack. We listen to it every time they come to my house.
The Proposal is my favorite song.

5 out of 5 stars Simply beautiful!.......2005-08-20

In all honesty, the Ever After soundtrack may be some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard. Although the music brings to mind the film it came from, this is certainly stand-alone music. My only complaint is the non-instrumental song at the end. The song simply does not match up with the Renaissance style music and really adds nothing to the overall CD. If you plan on using the music for a romantic dinner or background music, make sure to program your stereo to skip over it!

5 out of 5 stars A beautiful soundtrack.......2005-08-20

I absolutely love this soundtrack. The songs are beautifully scored and it's just wonderful. I listen to it at work when I need to calm down. It reminds me of the movie. I can picture each scene in my head as the tracks play. I recommend this CD to anyone!

4 out of 5 stars Simply Beautiful!!!.......2004-06-26

I love this soundtrack! I listen to it often and enjoy every minute. Number 6, "Homecoming" is definitely my favorite. I can just picture the scene in my mind as I listen. This soundtrack is beautiful, unique, and calming. I love the movie and the music reminds me of every scene. Though, I would like it if the tracks were longer. And sometimes I like to switch from this calming romantic music to something more adventerous and exciting. But when I am in the mood for gentle, pretty music I head straight for this soundtrack. I'm sure you will love it!
