54, Volume 2 [Soundtrack]
Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
The second round of sounds from 54 kicks off with Stars on 54--the powerhouse trio of club canaries Ultra Naté, Amber, and Jocelyn Enriquez--breathing life into a house reinvention of Gordon Lightfoot's tepid "If You Could Read My Mind." What distinguishes the 15 subsequent tracks is a sparkling symbiosis of artist, melody, and musical invention. Could anyone but the towering Grace Jones have growled "I Need a Man" with such ferocity? And the syncopated bridge of Bonnie Pointer's "Heaven Must Have Sent You" oozes more juice than most contemporary R&B hits. Thoughtful sequencing, with an emphasis on the oft-overlooked stylistic breadth disco achieved under the best producers and performers, makes this an even better bet than volume 1. --Kurt B. Reighley

funky disco.......2007-07-06
if you like disco music then youll love this cd... all great songs from back in the day....
one song on this soundtrack is MIA.......2007-04-14
ok...what happened to MY favorite song in the movie "54", the soundtrack version of Hang On In There Baby by Johnny Bristol?!?!?! :(
Journey to the pass.......2007-01-30
This Cd was when Dance music was ruling the world. Take a journey back to the time of real music, and not a bunch of noise coming out of their mouths. Music had a beat, a rhythm a style and most of all, it had class. You had to look at your best to be able to get into Studio 54. Today, even with a baseball cap and eating a microphone you can talk sing. On this CD, you had to be the best to be able to Dance, Dance, Dance. The music on this Cd will take you back in time and relive the beauty of the dance floor, lights, and heart pounding bass that MADE you dance all night. This CD does just that.
Disco Boogie - continues..........2007-01-10
I couldn't get enough of the volume 1 that I bought the volume 2. The boogie continues as well as the fun, the groove and the grandiosity of the interpreters. Even though Iam in my 20's this is the kinda of music that I identify with for many reasons. Nowadays, you can find either so many artists playing the same comercial hits, music without "substance" or, worst, that dehumanize women. Disco is all about dance, happyness and fun. An excelent buy!
If you like late 70's dance music.......2006-03-24
This version of the music from 54 is much better than the other sountrack. There are a few really good songs on there, about half of them are pretty good. The rest all sound basically the same.
