Boogie Nights 2: More Music From The Original Motion Picture [Soundtrack]

In 1997, writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson boldly went where few other filmmakers have dared--America's multibillion-dollar pornography industry--and produced a clear-eyed portrait of '70s and '80s American cultural mores as lived out by an extened family of adult filmmakers and stars. Given the period, Anderson had a wealth of fond, cheesy pop to choose from (hence Vol. 2). Aside from a few shop-worn cuts (Hot Chocolate's "You Sexy Thing," perhaps the most overexposed '70s hit of 1997), the remainder are notably fresh. The best: Sniff & the Tears' "Driver's Seat," Apollo 100's "Joy," and The Move's "Feel Too Good." --Jerry McCulley

5 out of 5 stars So many good songs, glad to see a number 2!.......2006-11-04

Boogie Nights got me addicted to the song "Fooled around and Fell in Love". I always wondered why it wasn't on the soundtrack, also glad to see drivers seat, I can picture every scene in the movie when I hear these songs!!!

4 out of 5 stars Good compliation from a great movie.......2004-09-21

Boogie Nights let us know that we really loved the 70's and that we really ARE nostalgic for the music from the period - ALL THE MUSIC!

This second CD from the film soundtrack effectively provides us with more memories from not only the film, but from the era.

Apollo 100's Joy is a favorite as is Three Dog Night's Mama Told Me Not to Come.

Thought neither CD (CD 1 nor this one) contains Andrew Gold's Lonely Boy, which I really felt was emotionally a direct hit - so that's a bad thing.

Both of these CDs will share a welcome place in your house along with the DVD of the film.

5 out of 5 stars Put On Your "Boogie Shoes" With Dirk Diggler!.......2004-05-20

With Three Dog Night's warning song "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)", Elvin Bishop's regretful ballad, "Fooled Around and Fell in Love"
disco great, You Sexy Thing by Hot Chocolate and the FABULOUS, FUN Boogie Shoes by non other than KC & the Sunshine Band
Other highlights are "Do Your Thing" with Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, and "Driver's Seat" from one hit wonder Sniff 'n' the Tears.

Feel Too Good - The Move
Jessie's Girl - Rick Springfield
J.P. Walk - Sound Experience
I Want to Be Free - The Ohio Players
Joy - Apollo 100 round out the CD.

Great listening that will either take you back to the 70's or the "Boogie Nights" movie or possibly... BOTH!

Happy Listening!

4 out of 5 stars Awesome Collection, But Missing Several Selections.......2003-01-22

Vol.2 of Boogie Nights takes you through the 70's into the 80's with a great selection of music from the movie. The music takes you through the life of Dirk Diggler through the ups and downs of his life. The only thing lacking is that several songs were left off the cd including the classic Fleetwood Mac song "Tusk" and Devo's "Jerkin Back And Forth" which are included on the DVD version of the film. However the music makes you feel you are in the film and with Dirk through his journey. A must for any fan of the motion picture.

5 out of 5 stars PERFECT COMPANION.......2001-09-19

.....to the first volume. This cd has even more great songs from the film. I love Driver's Seat and of course Boogie Shoes. It is a must that you pick up both volumes of this particular soundtrack. The variety of music is awesome and it will be well worth your money. I would have liked to have seen Lonely Boy by Andrew Gold, Fly Robin Fly by the Silver Connection, and Sunny by Boney M included. But hey....I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too!! ;) Regardless, these cds are well worth the money.
