Director Garry Marshall's movie about two mentally challenged folks navigating the waters of love features a slapdash collection that's simply all over the place. The movie's star, Juliette Lewis, brings home a version of Johnny Mercer and Harold Arlen's "Come Rain or Come Shine." It ain't Billie Holiday, but you were expecting what? The Lemonheads do the same to Simon and Garfunkel's "Mrs. Robinson" (which actually scored them a minor alternative hit). The Soup Dragons fare far better with their cover of the Rolling Stones' "I'm Free" (which was also a hit several years ago). Diane Warren makes her obligatory songwriting showcase with "Loving You Is All I Know," which is delivered with typical vibrato by Chrissie Hynde. Blues shouter Joan Osborne is draped in strings for "At Last." Add in alt-rockers Fastball and neo-trad country gal Alison Krauss, and you've got a sloppy, oddball stew. --Rob O'Connor

3 out of 5 stars Song at wedding reception.......2006-01-06

I think the song that someone was looking for at the wedding reception was Temptation by New Order. That was probably the best song in the movie and it wasn't included on the soundtrack.

4 out of 5 stars Looking for a Name.......2005-12-04

All the music is good! Does anyone know what song is playing at the wedding reception? Enya-like song. thank you.

5 out of 5 stars At Last!.......2004-11-16

I haven't bought this CD yet but I have seen the movie several times and I love love love Joan Osbourne's version of "At Last".

Her version is better that the original Etta James. She chooses a different note for the fist "last" of the song and it is just so perfect. Etta's "last" is too flat.

Listen to the song, you'll see. I plan on buying this CD just for that one song along. That's how good it is!

4 out of 5 stars my opinion.......2004-05-23

Idina Menzel's song "Follow if You Lead" a fantastic song. She's an awesome singer!

Great soundtrack! "The Animal Song" and "I'm Free" are fun; "Loving You is All I Need" and "When You Say Nothing at All" are so sweet and "At Last" is just beautiful! The whole album is wonderful, but these are the ones that stick out for me. I find myself setting the repeat option and listening to the album over and over again. These are great songs to sing along with and my husband and I dance to "When You Say Nothing at All" - we love that song! A bonus on this album is that Juliette Lewis sings "Come Rain or Come Shine." She does well, though she need not quit acting! Overall, a great soundtrack that brings back the feeling of the movie.
