A MUST HAVE.......2006-05-29
I give this a 10 out of 5.
Most favorite game soundtrack I own aside from my Silent Hill OSTs. (Konami has got some serious musical talent in their company , don't they?)It has every song you were lookin for. I personally enjoyed the opening themes, Ocelot's battle theme,"The Fury's battle theme, and ultra swingin retro "Surfing Guitar" and other Healing Radio tracks . I can play out the scenarios in my head, and be taken to a time era I wasn't even born in with the guitar effects listenin to this. Pretty expensive here, but worth it.
The Magic continues.........2006-03-15
*WARNING: May contain spoilers if you haven't played MGS3 yet*
The MGS1 left me truely impressed. It was simply my favourite, but honestly MGS2 left me disappointed. The MGS1 music was composed by Tappy, while the MGS2 music was composed by Harry-Gregson Williams (The Rock, Enemy Of The State). Some of it was good, like the main theme which was done brilliantly in a way that suits the MGS2 universe, and I guess the boss battles were ok, but the rest wasn't as brilliantly done as MGS1. In MGS3 the music is actually composed by six musicians ! Harry-Gregson Williams returns with a yet even better main theme, and he also made some brilliant pieces, like the Halo jump event, and the escape sequance all the way to fighting the Shagohod. And, of all the movie or game songs I've ever heard in my life, Snake Eater was unique ! The way the whole thing was put together was just brilliant ! First, they don't show you an intro, like in the beginning of every Metal Gear game, and the game starts directly, then they write "Directed by Hideo Kojima" after the Halo hump, so they make you think that the game has been introduced, and while you're playing normally, thinking that this is another mission in the Metal Gear that's going to last for 8-10 hours, Snake is beaten up, thrown in the water, and heavily irradiated by a nuclear explosion ! The scene with the mushroom shaped nuclear explosion was breathtaking, and just then, while your mind is in a completely different place, the screen is interrupted by a smooth-slow swift sound while it says "Konami Computer Entertainment Presents" and then, one of the most awesome, if not THE best video gaming/movies moment begins, the Snake Eater song, with the main titles designed by Kyle Cooper, and vocals by Cynthia Harrel ! This is truely a must buy, not just for fans, but for anyone that is remotely related to MGS3 !
Harry Gregson-Williams Turns This Game Into A Cinematic Experience.......2005-10-04
I am a huge Metal Gear Solid fan, and when I heard that Harry Gregson-Williams would be joining in to compose the second game I got so excited, and was even more excited when he stayed for #3. Hans Zimmer is my favorite composer of all time, and I absolutely love every composer that comes out of Media Ventures. Williams keeps the feel of the original soundtrack, but adds his trademark techno spin to it. Fans will recognize the same style in Spy Game, Phonebooth, and The Rundown. The game becomes a film all because of the amazing talents of Williams. It's also interesting that he composed all the music solely based on Hideo Kojimas descriptions of atmosphere and actions. Usually scores are composed when a finished film has been presented to the composer, here Williams worked only off of sketches and writings. But the price here on Amazon is very high, at GKWorld they sell it for 13 dollars brand new.
Amazing. Nothing more said........2005-05-01
This was absolutely outstanding. I have been a fan of Metal Gear Solid since I first bought a PlayStation 1 off a friend, and he gave me MGS1 with it. I was hooked. I loved the strategy, I loved the realism, and most of all, I loved the music.
I'm still stuck with a PlayStation 1, so theres no chance in me playing MGS3, but what I can do is listen to the soundtrack. And I gotta tell you, its extremely powerful. I love the Metal Gear Solid Theme, not just this one, but the ones from MGS1 and MGS2 just as much. Amazing.
AMAZING!!! 5 STARS!!!.......2005-03-15
This inspiring music not only is sensational, but leaves you with an euphoric feeling of delectation and confidence.

The Soundtrack That Made the Game.......2006-03-23
Awesome. Simply Awesome. I firmly feel that Metal Gear Solid is one of the greatest games ever made for any system, and one of the biggest contributors to it's greatness is its soundtrack. This particular compendium is superb. Although it is lacking a few songs that I personally was looking forward to hearing, the songs it does have are some of the most memorable pieces in video game history! I like to collect video game soundtracks, and this one ranks among my most favorite, up there with Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Silent Hill. This soundtrack is a MUST HAVE!
Best Soundtrack ever..........2006-03-15
Metal Gear Solid contained some of the best music pieces ever written, at least in my opinion. As a matter of fact, when I first saw the MGS1 trailer back in 1997, that brilliant main theme was one of the main reasons that made me want to buy this game so bad, and of all the hunches that didn't miss, this was a bullseye ! When I bought the game I was really impressed by the intro with the chorus, and by the way every piece of music was perfectly suited for every area. And the boss battles, just WOW. Now this is how a boss battle should sound like ! Personally, I consider these to be my favourite pieces of music of all time. This soundtrack is truely a must. Even if you've never played MGS before, you're going to be impressed. While probably you're a Metal Gear fan, so this is a must buy item that should be added to the Metal Gear collection.
Metal Gear Solid - Original Soundtracks.......2005-08-17
Metal gear Original Soundtracks is an outstanding piece of music all together. it ranges from slow stealth and harmony music to fast adrenalyn stealth music and it is a very well done piece of composing. If you want to buy this cd then i would go ahead and do so, before i bought this cd i wasent sure whether it had all the songs i wanted it to have and at the time it was only 3! but you name a song from MGS-1 and this cd will have it! I truly recommend this cd to any1 thats a true MGS fan.
One of the best gaming music I've ever listend too............2004-03-23
Ok first off there should be an award of music game of the year cause this one deserves it. Metal Gear Solid music is if not one of the only true gaming music you can listen too.
Every song is great and wonderfull. Escape made me feel kina sad knowing it was the music they used for the final Conflict between snake and grey fox. I dont remember I time that I havent listen to this music album. I listen to it at school and the gaming freaks love it. I tell em to buy it off amazon cause luckily they have it.
Over all the music scores are brilliant. THIS FRIGGIN CD IS BRILLIANT. I TOTALY RECOMEND IT ESSPECIALY IF YOURE A METAL GEAR SOLID FAN LIKE ME!
GET IT!
AMAZING METAL GEAR SOLID SOUNDTRACK!.......2003-08-18

Customer Reviews:
It needs more!.......2006-05-29
Its great-but only if you cared for the main themes, of course THE metal Gear theme we all know and love- but really all this had was all the cinematic tunes and Boss battles. What I really wish this had was EVERY SONG like the 2 disc "MGS3; Snake Eater" , I woulda have really enjoyed it if there was the ambient cool-jazz background music you hear as you roam the Big Shell, partcularly the tune you hear while sneaking about the Dining Hall. But if its just the stuff I mentioned above you are lookin for, youve found it.
Not a very good game-to-disc transition.......2004-05-10
Harry Gregson-Williams is a genius, and his music sounded very good in the game. But it didn't sound as good on the CD. A couple tracks were good, and the rest were fairly uninteresting. And the song "Can't Say Goodbye to Yesterday" was terrible. Both the vocal version and the piano version are unlistenable. I always have to skip the tracks.
Not a bad CD, but not worth the money. The original Metal Gear Solid music is of MIDI quality, but the composition was strong enough to make it a better album. Get that one and enjoy the MGS2 music as you're playing the game. The high cost of importing this album isn't worth it.
SOLID!.......2004-01-26
As soon I received the CD in the mail, I stuck it in my Discman, and hit PLAY. Within minutes of listening I was in love with it ! It's great music ! The music seems (to me) to be a clash - and a VERY GOOD CLASH - of classical and techno. They're slightly remixed, but that doesn't ruin a thing ! In fact sometimes it enhances it !
While much shorter than "The Other Side", it's a great compliment to it; Both albums compliment each other, yet are great alone !
This is a great soundtrack you'll want to get your hands on - even if it means stealthily infiltrating an armed base to get it!
Heads and Shoulders Above Mario's Music.......2003-09-24
I'm a fan of the Series Metal Gear Solid, but I never took the time to really listen to the games's music. I bought this CD and was blown away, it's amazing how great the score is. The main theme is just incredable. The rest of the score is just alright, but it's the first track, the main there, that really sells the CD. I'm giddy to hear the MGS3 three soundtrack coming soon.
BEYOND GOOD!!!.......2003-05-06
LOVE THIS SOUNDTRACK!!! MUST BUY if you like classical! Extremely Touching Music!

Customer Reviews:
Fantastic!.......2006-06-17
The first volume of the Metal Gear Solid 2 soundtrack was no less than perfection. The second volume repeats this feat and then some. There are a total of 20 tracks, and each track is simply excellent. Track 7, for example, titled "Countdown to Disaster" is reason enough to own this soundtrack by itself. The perfect blend of fast-paced techno rhythms and beats combined with lush orchestrations make this soundtrack a true must-have for any game music collection. If you liked the first Metal Gear Solid 2 soundtrack, then you simply must buy this one as well; you will not be disappointed. This second volume completes the total MGS2 soundtrack by including all the gameplay music as well as the rest of the cut-scene music that was not included on the first soundtrack. If you are a fan of the Metal Gear series, you owe it to yourself to purchase this soundtrack.

I bought the game, and it was excellent. I bought the soundtrack, and it was aslo excellent. If you love the game or just love new and unique fully orchestrated music, then this album is a must.

A Shocking Soundtrack.......2006-03-04
Without a doubt, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater's OST shines brighter than any of its previous MGS soundtracks. The most notable songs, not taking away from any of the others (they're all amazingly done) are "Snake Eater," "Metal Gear Solid 3 Main Theme," and my personal favorite, bringing tears to my eyes every single time, "Debriefing." Get it, experience it. This isn't just game music anymore, it's art.
