False Advertising & Pure Crap.......2006-12-30
Don't buy this CD!!!!!! It's just bad midi approximations of the score!!!
First off, I received this as a gift from my unsuspecting relatives, who thought they were getting a great deal. Bottom line: you get what you pay for. I don't know who "Mask" is who "performed" these tracks, but I've heard better orchestral sounds on days of our lives. And as to the previous comment about the CD being clearly marked as a "digital remix," that's pure crap as well. It doesn't say this anywhere on the packaging. I don't know how they obtained the mechanical license and I don't know how on earth this CD was allowed to be distributed. I don't know what scares me more; the fact that this CD is allowed to be out on the market, or that people these days are so oblivious that they actually think this bad synth lives up to the live orchestral recording!!!
It's borderline false advertising, definitely unethical, and simply pure crap. Shame on you whoever put this out. Shame on you.
Absolute rubbish!!!.......2006-12-07
I was so amazed that the title read original soundtrack from the three movies and came at an amazingly cheap price. I ordered it with extremely high expectations and the day i got it,I was jumping with joy. But the moment I had it playing I was so angry that I almost broke my shelf stereo. Its not even close to the original John Williams's score.I recommend that the store stop selling this product as it only fools people.
Excellent buy.......2006-04-19
My son had a Harry Potter birthday party. EVERY child there loved this. The CD's sound wonderful and are an excellent bargain. You get three soundtracks for the price of one. We did miss was the chorus "something wicked this way comes...." but other than that it sounds pretty true to the movie verson. No one including the adults noticed it was digitally mastered. We still listen to it often. We love it.
harry potter soundtrack.......2006-01-30
This is a great compelation if you cant find the original plus you get all of the first 3 soundtracks its a great item to have.
Not the Soundtracks From the Movies.......2005-09-17
I bought this CD collection thinking it was the soundtrack music from the HP movies, but that is not the case. It is music from the Hollywood orchestra, and not directed by John Williams.
The music is not the same, but it has interesting variations (for instance, "Hagrid the Professor").
There are no Choral scores included (I really missed "Double Trouble"). This collection is nice if you don't buy it expecting it to sound EXACTLY like the musical scores in the movies.
I still listen to it even though I'm also buying the REAL soundtracks. I consider them much better.
John Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra have collaborated on movie scores together for about 20 years now, and I haven't found a better combination of talent.

Waste of money.......2006-09-03
I found this in the store while browsing Harry Potter CD's. I thought "Gee, they must not put the whole score for each movie on, that's why it's so cheap." Then, I stuck it in the CD player and was very upset to find that I just spent 20 bucks on a synthesized version of the soundtracks. I think it's probably well put together synthesized music, since my husband swore up and down that wasn't a synthesizer. But I was looking forward to all the bells and strings...well, basically the orchestra. So, this goes to the used CD store, and I get to go out and blow another 20 on one soundtrack. Really, don't be fooled.
<---- Digitally Reproduced! Dont Buy This!.......2005-03-04
This is a digital reproduction of the wonderful music that John Williams composed. This company made this and stuck the title "Harry Potter" on it knowing well that people would buy it thinking it was a great deal for all three Harry Potter CDs.
Just enough off to be disturbing.......2004-12-28
This is one of those works that has been put together electronically. It's actually well done for what it is, but there are those moments where the music builds that just can't compare to a full orchestra. The tinny sound that you get from artificial reproduction, or keyboarding, comes through loud and clear. It was disturbing enough that I turned it off half way through the second disk.
If you want the full feeling that you had from hearing the music in the theater then spend the extra money for the real thing. It's not that much more, really. About $7 to $9 if you buy all three separately.
Don't bother........2004-09-21
Yeah... It may look like a great buy for the soundtracks to all three films, but things aren't always what they appear to be.
These are not the orchestral recordings that you heard in the films. Rather, they are some guy (okay, I assume... could be a girl) with a sequencer "performing" music from the films. Granted, the samples aren't horrible - though the brass sounds could use some work - but this is not what I thought I was paying for. From what little I was able to force myself to sit through, it wasn't horribly put together. It's just not actually the soundtrack. Very much of a rip-off. Unless you like spending $30 for a set of three Harry Potter labeled coasters. Then by all means, go ahead and get this. Otherwise, put out the extra money to collect the recordings of actual musicians performing this stuff. I think you'll find it to be money well spent.
