This odds 'n' ends mix of '60s, '70s, and '90s pop clashes like an all-plaid tuxedo, so those with a stereo pre-programming function--or better yet, a remote--would be wise to rearrange this album's songs in a less jarring manner. Unlike many teen flick soundtracks, Never Been Kissed tries hard to follow the film script's championing of the underdog: There are no Everclears, no Alanises, just primarily a warm, risk-free blend of mostly lesser-known pop acts (Semisonic, Remy Zero, Sonichrome) who sound vaguely reminiscent of other, bigger-name pop acts. The rub is that the string of modern bubblegum numbers segues into a sprinkling of old faves like John and Yoko's "Watching the Wheels" and the Beach Boys' "Don't Worry Baby," both of which are hideously out of place next to the ethnic rap stylings of Ozomatli and no-brainer jubilance of teen idol Jeremy Jordan. The final insult is the inclusion of The Smiths' tender "Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want," a ballad that strongly identified the mood of '80s high-school movies (it originally appeared on the Pretty in Pink soundtrack) but has no meaning in this cootchy-coo context. --Kristy Ojala

5 out of 5 stars Dear G. Singh "sky":.......2006-06-18

The song that was playing while Josie and the teacher danced at the prom was "Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want" by the Smiths (I was just watching the movie on TBS).

2 out of 5 stars what is the name of the song when Josie & the teacher are dancing?.......2006-06-07

I never bought the soundtrack. I thought the movie was sweet, funny & romantic. Does anyone know the song playing when Josie & the teacher start dancing at the prom? Please help if you know it.

Cumbia De Los Muertos - Ozomatti

thats actually a spanish song for your info....oviously people cannot read...does that title even look like itz written in a another language besides spanish....wow...but anyways thats the best song on here......damn that could have been a hit if it got commercial airplay in 1999

4 out of 5 stars Great mix of songs chosen from a wide range.......2006-03-25

People are usually upset that the soundtrack doesn't contain a song that they really want from the movie which makes them hesitate whether they should buy the CD or not. This is the first soundtrack I have come across that all the important favourite songs from the movie has been taken from.

Everyone keeps asking for the name of the particular song from a scene so here they are:
1. Never You Mind - Semisonic (Party at Robs)Good innocent party song. Very fun and catchy.
2. Standing By - Willis (Carnival) Perfect fit with the scene. Acoustic Guitar Guru. It's a Don't Worry Be Happy song. Very joyful. Feel like shaking a pair of rattles to this song.
3. Lucky Denver Mint - Jimmy Eat World (Havn't heard this song in the movie)Smooth relaxing song, you know those ones that make you feel like you're drifting on a cloud.
4. Problem - Remmy Zero (Not heard) Not that great. But I don't hate it.
5. Erase & Rewind - Cardigans (Prom King and Queen have their first dance) I love this song! Great slow song to dance to.
6. Closer To Myself - Kendall Payne (Josie walks through men's change room to see coach)I like it.
7. At My Most Beautiful - R.E.M. (Guy walks out of Josie's room after he he ask her to the prom)Sweet and also relaxing.
8. Catch A Falling Star - Block (Opening credits) Such a catchy song to sing along to. A classic remake of Perry Como. You would have heard this song on Princess Diaries, if you've seen it.
9. Candy In The Sun - Swirl 360 (At the prom where these dudes melt the ice sculpture)Great pop/rock song to dance to.
10. Until You Loved Me - The Moffatts (End credits) A mix of pop, country, and rock. Very catchy but kind of too dopey love for me.
11. Cumbia De Los Muertos - Ozomatti (Josie enters DELOSER and hears band playing) You'll like it if you like Jamaican music.
12. Watching The Wheels - John Lennon/Yoko Ono (Josie is at home putting her pillow to her collection)
13. Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want - The Smiths (I THINK THIS IS THE SONG PEOPLE WERE LOOKING FOR, IT'S WHEN JOSIE AND MR. COULSON DANCE) I'll like this song even if I didn't hear it in my favourite teen movie.
14. Innocent Journey - Sonichrome (First song for end credits) Can be loved by the catchy tune by most people. But I also think the tune was annoying. Still good though.
15. Don't Worry Baby - The Beach Boys (When Josie has her you know, at the championships) The Beach Boys are my favourite oldies band and I can't believe I havn't heard this before. This is definitely my favourite song after, I Get Around, from them.
16. A Girl Named Happiness (Never Been Kissed) - Jeremy Jordan (Not in the Movie)This is Jeremy Jordan? The guy who played Guy Perkins? He sounds a whole lot different compared to his song The Right Kind of Love. Such a beautiful song sung perfectly and differently (deeper and soother)by Jeremy. Recommended since no one has heard it before. I like this song better than The Right Kind of Love.

Important Songs that isn't on soundtrack but in movie (If You Have Been Looking For A Song, Read This):

She Bop-Cyndi Lauper: Flashback of Josie getting Soda in her baackpack. No it doesn't sound like MmmBop.

Saburban Life-Kottonmouth Kings: Josie hops out of Rob's car on first day.

Seventeen (DEMO)- Jimmy Eat World: Josie gets ready for highschool. It goes, "you're only, you're only seventeen."

(I Just) Died In Your Arms Tonight- Cutting Crew: First Appearance of Guy Perkins, thought it was Billy.

Three is a Magic Number- Blind Melon: The mathletes at work.

Free to be your and me- The New Seekers: Josie and nerd singing in car.

Here We Go- Stakka Bo: Josie climbs into George's van.

Me, Myself and I- De La Soul: Josie says hi to classmates while they point at her saying "loser!"

Like A Prayer- Modonna: Flashback of Josie getting ready for prom.

Go Daddy O- Big Bad Voodoo Daddy: Rob tries to get others to like Josie.

Heaven Tonight- Hole: Josie, Kristen, Kirsten, and Gibby go shopping.

Nowhere slow- Homegrown: Gibby getting out of limo.

Bitter- Pietasters: Josie's assistant dances infront of the TV.

Riot Nrrrd- 2 Skinnee J's: Nerds dressed as Double Helix enter the prom.

Look Who's Perfect Now- Transister: When the teachers announce the prom queen.

Stay- Radford: When Prom continues after Rob and Josie have left. (Recommend!)

That's it! I highly suggest people to buy the album if you loved the songs in the movie because the songs are really, really hard to find to download. If you only liked one song than it's a waste of your money to buy it. Have a nice time listening to them.
