Daddy Day Care [Soundtrack]
Editorial Reviews

Eddie Murphy's Daddy Daycare boldly goes where even Arnold Schwarzenegger's Kindergarten Cop feared to tred, immersing the veteran comedian in proceedings that are at least nine shades of juvenile. Can the UPN sitcom be far behind? The soundtrack selections are a bright, energetic mix of '70s and '80s rock and pop that are familiar enough to become veritable supporting characters for the film's comic intentions. If tracks like Katrina & the Waves' buoyant "Walking on Sunshine," BTO's "Taking Care of Business," and Gary Wright's "Dream Weaver" seem a bit overused in films by now, they're at least placed in a context that underscores the disparate charms of the era. Nilsson's "Coconut" is always a charmer, while the Ramones' "I Wanna Be Sedated," "Ballroom Blitz" by the Sweet, and Cheap Trick's venerable "Surrender" (in what appears to be an alternate take or mix) remind how sheer hook-laden zest a rock song can have. --Jerry McCulley

Daddy Day Care............... Very Interesting.......2003-10-28
Daddy Day Care, the movie a C+, the CD an B+. But I'll leave that for you to decide here is a list of the songs and how I rate them.
1. Walking on Sunshine-Catchy but corny lyrics, but great opening precussion
2. Takin' Care of Business-Another down hill, low drive rock n' roll song though easy to learn the words.
3. I Want You Back-Strong voices, Jazz melony, Catchy lyrics after listening to this song once I got it stuck in my head instantly.
4. Cocunut-50-50 the song is darn slow at first but gets slightly faster though hardly any background music.
5. Rhinestone Cowboy-Good for some occasions, medium pace, but gets annoying after awhile.
6. I Wanna be Sedated-Too fast, pathetic lyrics, but weirdly appealing.
7. Kung Fu Fighting-Perfect pace, artistic, and unique. WOW! Those are characteristics you don't see a song have do often.
8. Dream on Weaver-Slow and sappy though interesting opening music. Better skip it.
9. Ballroom Blitz-Magnificent background music, Catchy lyrics, turned-up volume vocals, cool tune.
10. Surrender-3-star song, moron like lyrics, way too long. it all depends.........
11. ABC-A classic by the Jackson 5. Another one always stuck in my head.
12. I Want Candy-A song that has 1 trillion remakes but does the original beat the remakes? Oh, WHATEVER! It's just plain good.
I said my opinion but now you decide. It's up to you............
Family music that rocks!.......2003-09-30
One of the best soundtracks ever. I knew as soon as I saw the movie that I would have to get it. You can listen to these songs over and over again, much more easily than you can to some of the music that gets repeated constantly on the radio - one of the many reasons I love a good soundtrack. This is destined to become one of my family's favorite car/travel CDs. I'm so happy to enjoy this music with my husband and children, and I suspect that they'll share it with their kids, too. Great songs are timeless! I highly recommend this to be picked up by anyone and everyone!
"Doesnt get mush better".......2003-06-18
Well after seeing the movie i just new i had to get the soundtrack. The songs are great and they remind you of the good old music. There is a lot of great up to beat songs and some oldies that are simply great.
Oldies and Daddy Day Care= Great!.......2003-06-03
The two Jackson 5 songs were the bomb! I also liked Kon Fu fighting and ballroom blitz. Also the rap song at the end is catchy. Its not a waste of money! 5 STARS!
