5 out of 5 stars A good value.......2007-05-17

I wasn't expecting to have 4 discs for this price, and the music is a quality selection of film music, giving a good scope of the genre, and a very listenable transfer.

4 out of 5 stars The Sound Track Since Bernard Hermann.......2006-07-25

This collection is bound to capture your heart and evoke a tin ear on successive tracks. I found much to like and some duds - easy to skip over.
Very good value.

4 out of 5 stars A mixed collection of movie music.......2006-02-23

For the price, this CD is a great bargain. The musical selections, as you might expect, are mixed in quality ranging from extraordinary to so so, the balance being worthwhile and interesting. Sonically the CD is excellent.

5 out of 5 stars Uplifts your soul, takes your mind into the heavens.......2006-01-06

I have been listening to great scores for many years and this collection is truly inspirational in so far as the choice of different scores takes you on a journey of listening pleasure matched by only a few collections. The price is incredibly reasonable for hours of listening pleasure. 3 out of 5 stars Young's done better.......2007-01-04

I have to admit that I had wanted Chris Young's score for Nightmare 2 for a long time. I'm a fan of the composer and some of his work I consider among the best of film scores. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. I don't really think the use of whale song is inspired or creepy. It's just kind of intrusive since I recognize it for what it is. There is some really good string writing though, so it's not a total loss. The same can't be said for Charles Bernstein's music for the original. Other than the opening track, I find his score annoying and terribly dated. I can only recommend this CD for die-hard Chris Young fans.

    5 out of 5 stars NIGHTMARE 1,AND 2.......2005-09-06

What can I say, I love HORROR MOVIE soundtracks adn this is just a classic to me. Since I also watch the movies almost every day and am a fan of the scores it was a must have for me. IF you are looking for a soundtrack with music this is not it, but if you like movie scores then it's worth it.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant Masterstroke Of Instrumental movie score Magic.......2005-07-20

I bought this soundtrack way back in 1992, i have had it ever since, the only part i'm dissapointed with is in the film there's a scene where Nancy comes home from talking with Glen on the riverbridge, she comes home & sees the bars on the windows & says "Oh gross"! the music that plays in that scene wasn't on the soundtrack, but other than that, the soundtrack was very creepy, but absoutely brilliant,it's music i like to play when i like to drift off to my own world. A real winner of a soundtrack.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent fan disc.......2004-06-17

Strange that this is only an import. The complete soundtracks to the first two Nightmare on Elm Street discs is a much better than average horror score disc.

Charles Bernstein is not well known, but his spare electronic score is creepy in the right places, and he created the famous theme for the series.

Christopher Young's score is, I think, the stronger of the two. Young is a very solid composer who would go on to write the scores to Hellraiser and Hellbound, two of the better horror scores to come along. His work here is excellent, brooding, very moody, and effective. Reminded me of Horner's (still unreleased) score to Wolfen, and it certainly aided the film along the way. Freddy's Dead is one of the least popular sequels, yet it's very expressionistic and moody, and kept Freddy off-screen enough so he wasn't a wise-cracking anti-hero as in later films.

Highly recommended for fans of the two first flicks, this is a great disc for soundtrack buffs, much more satisfying than Freddy's Favorites, which jams parts of at least five different movies (and composers) on one disc.

    2 out of 5 stars A GREAT SOUNDTRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2004-02-11

I really love this soundtrack because it has all the songs from both nightmare 1 and 2.But i have to say the best songs are from nightmare 1 because its more scarier.Overall,i would say this soundtrack is fantastic!

4 out of 5 stars Are you ready for Freddy?...ok now?..how bout now?.......2007-04-20

I'm guessing everyone who is planning on buying this puppy is a huge Nightmare fan, and this cd doesnt disapoint.
The original has the best score, its so classic and creepy. I love it! The opening title of part 2 is pretty creepy too, although I can't remember any of the other tracks off the top of my head.
Part 3 is ok, has some cheesy stuff tumbled in there, but listenable and I refuse to say anything bad about any aspect of Dream Warriors- ever. Ahhh A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: I can recite this movie in my sleep, so listening the amazing Freddy's Back score or re-living the on-screen events of Debbie checks in/Time circles is always a pleasure.
The Dream Child has some spooky gothic stuff, and for the life of me I can't recall much of Freddy's Dead music either...that must be a bad sign.
All in all this thing is great. Now when are they gonna put out a cd of the Friday the 13th scores? The disco edition of part 3 is like the best thing EVER!!!

    5 out of 5 stars Awesome scores.......2005-09-19

I think Nightmare On Elm Street has the best score of any horror flick. This cd takes the best scores from 6 of the Nightmare films and puts them all into one. My personal favorite tracks have to be the NOES 5 scores. A dark score for a dark movie.

3 out of 5 stars Question for those who have this ..........2005-08-08

Does this soundtrack have the children singing "1, 2 Freddy's coming for you"? Thanks.

    4 out of 5 stars Great.......2005-04-05

This CD is a collection of the best sounds of the nightmare on elm street movies from 1 through 6. You will get an omnious and terrorfying sense from this CD and is a great one to listen to during Halloween. Definately a must have CD.

    4 out of 5 stars A different Brian May.......2002-12-15

Brian May, the film composer, is a different person than Brian May of Queen. Brian May, film composer, passed away several years ago. He composed the score for Mad Max, too.Freddy's Favorites is an excellent horror music compilation, especially the contributions from Young and Badalamenti.

    1 out of 5 stars Where's the sountrack?.......2005-10-29

Whatever happened to the kickass sountrack? Not the score, but the album that had Vinnie Vincent Invasion, Divinyls and Blondie among others? For such a suckie movie, the soundtrack was pretty cool. Where is it? I only have a copy on vinyl.

3 out of 5 stars Too many scores, no music soundtracks.......2005-10-12

I give 3 stars ONLY because there is a lack of the original music soundtrack. Like many NOES fans, I am one of those who really miss the ability to have the MUSIC soundtracks for 4,5,and 6. All that seems to be left are the original SCORE soundtracks. Luckily I have picked up NOES 4 used, and I may soon get my hands on NOES 5.

For those who keep asking what the song is that first Alice's brother listens to during his karate practice and later when Alice prepares to fight Freddy, it's called "Anything, Anything" and it's by a group named Dramarama. I know this helps, as I used to search for it, too.

    1 out of 5 stars name for a song?.......2005-10-01

when the brother is practicing his martial arts there is a song he's playing and i cant find the name of it. who sings the song?

5 out of 5 stars Best score for any horror series.......2005-10-01

A Nightmare On Elm Street has the best score of any kind of horror series out their in my opinion. Each film never ceased to amaze me with the music. This score is no different. The best tracks on it are the last two (the finale of NOES 4).

5 out of 5 stars The soundtrack makes the movie scary..........2006-09-15

John Carpenter in the DVD Commentary for Halloween admits that Halloween wouldn't be scary if it weren't for the music and this is true for "A Nightmare On Elm Street" Soundtrack by Charles Bernstein. This is one of my favorite soundtracks. The soundtrack was recorded using synthesizers or keyboards. There is some electric guitar on some tracks but it's mostly synths. Most soundtracks from low budget horror movies were recorded this way to obviously save money. But just try to imagine the nightmare "Nancy" has at the school were "Freddy" is chasing her in the boiler room with out the music!!! It just wouldn't work! I'm glad this soundtrack has finally been re-released and remastered! It's a must!

5 out of 5 stars A Soundtrack that lives beyond the film.......2006-07-16

No-one can walk away from this film without being moved by this score- one of may all time favourites. The presence of this richly layered score is what made this such a strong successful film. I am edified by the absence of this composer on the otherwise brilliant Wes Craven's New Nightmare. Why??? Had Berstein scored this film it would have been a classic. Wherever you are mr Bernstein, your work here is absolutely inspiring, memorable.

5 out of 5 stars A truly amazing treat for fans!.......2006-06-21

This soundtrack is incredible. It contains every piece of music found in the film, with the exception of that played during Tina's chase. Also, every track is identical to what's found in the film, with the exception of the END of Nancy's chase during her nightmare in English class.
Any fan should buy this... it's priceless.

    5 out of 5 stars Freaky.......2005-10-27

5 out of 5 stars Jay Ferguson - Composer of Note.......2005-08-28

Best known as the lead singer of Spirit and Jo Jo Gunne, Jay Ferguson pursued a solo career in the late '70s before eventually moving into film scoring work. Even as a member of those bands, Jay Ferguson was outstanding musically. He continues that position in his soundtrack work.

Why on earth Bass player Brad "Rad Metal Brad" has reviewed some other album here, is anybody's guess, but it might be due to his rad love of metal and his bad hatred of music he doesn't get.

1 out of 5 stars This is where the Nightmare series began to slip!.......2005-03-05

First off I own the origanal soundtrack version, which has the songs not the music theme scores like listed here on Amazon. There are 10 tracks total on the soundtrack. The Elm Street series got very bad with this entry,in both film and it's music involved, which did play very important parts in every good elm street movie. This elm street movie is the start of the end.Nighmare on Elm Street 4 was the final best Freddy movie in both film and soundtrack,so I recommend you buy that one instead!
1.Bring your daughter to the slaughter(performed by Bruce Dickinson)(7/10)Not a bad metal song.It was later used on Iron maiden's 1990 album!
    2.Heaven in the Back Seat(performed by Romeo's Daughter)(8/10)Not a bad track.The guitars and keyboards sound pretty good.Has a good 80's rock sound!
3.Savage(performed by W.A.S.P.)(6/10)If you like wasp you'll like this. It's heavy metal!
    4.Can't take the Hurt(Mammoth)(7/10)Not bad,a decent 80's rocker.Nothing very special though,but not bad!
5.What do you know about Rock'n'Roll(performed by Slave Raider)(7/10)Another poor man's 80's metal song.Dosen't equal the other great 80's metal of this era,but it's not horrible. It's better than any of today's music!
    6.Any way I gotta Swing it(performed by Whodie)(0/10)Piece of sh*t rap song.This rap sh*t really sucks!
7.Now I Lay me Down(performed by Samantha Fox)(3/10)Samantha Fox has a great voice and looks great, but this song totally sucks big time!
8.Let's Go(performed by Kool Moe Dee)(0/10)This is horrible.Rap music Fu*kin sucks! This garbage should be burned and then stepped on.Every rap star should be kicked off the face of this earth!
9.Word up Dock(performed by Doctor Ice)(0/10)More piece of sh*t rap music.Go Fu*k yourself Doctor Ice!
10.Livin in the Jungle(performed by Schoolly D)(0/10)Mor ehorrible rap music.A bullet through the head is easier than listening to this trash!
Overall I say Don't buy this album. The rap music ruins it totally.Any thing with rap music ruins good music and a soundtrack!Go buy Nightmare 4.On that soundtrack it's nothing but great hard rock and metal music!

    4 out of 5 stars .."It's a boy!!!".......2001-08-29

One of the best soundtracks ever compiled! Over 30 tracks of Gothic, melodic and keyboarded music that makes fantastic listening. Nightmare 5 (although not too successful) remains one of my fave entries in the film series and this CD is equally satisfying. A must for fans of Freddy!

    4 out of 5 stars great!.......2000-04-28

      4 out of 5 stars hmm..........2005-12-07

I have "freddy's favorites"and thought the three tracks by Badalamenti were good, but not his best work by far.I liked it,don't get me wrong, but am wondering if the rest of the score is actually worth the hefty pricetag offered here for a used copy.I'm somewhat of a Badalamenti completist and would love the music, but not if most of it's 80's cheese.

      1 out of 5 stars Where's DOKKEN ?.......2003-05-18

I wouldn't waste my money on this soundtrack of Nightmare on Elm Street 3 for all you DOKKEN fans out there, cause DOKKEN isn't on there. Dream Warriors is actually the theme song on Nightmare on Elm Street 3 & I can't understand how DOKKEN can be forgotten on this soundtrack!!!

      5 out of 5 stars good cd.......2000-04-22
