I have to admit that I haven't heard the entire soundtrack, but, on the strength of "Cheer Down" alone, it's worth the purchase. George Harrison wrote and performed the song in that very rich, creative period for him and the rest of the Traveling Wilburys (Vol. 1, Full Moon Fever by Petty, Cloud Nine by Harrison, Mystery Girl by Orbison, etc.) Not surprisingly, George has help from fellow Wilbury, Jeff Lynne, with instruments, vocals and production. The lyrics are great, the kind of tongue-in-cheek cynicism that found its way into a lot of Beatles songs (like Lennon's contribution to "Getting Better," "It can't get no worse.")

Is sometimes out of place
Don't mind, no frowns, cheer down.

If there's a weakness it the song it's Jim Keltner's boring drumming. Every song he's ever played on with Harrison or the other Wilburys has had the same simple, boring back beat. Thing song's otherwise brilliantly instrumentally and vocally.

You may not NEED to buy Lethal Weapon 2 soundtrack to get this song. It found its way onto Harrison's second greatest hits package, Dark Horse. You might also be able to found it as a CD or cassette single (which I have.)

What about the rest of the soundtrack? Who cares. It has one of George's best solo songs on it.

Lethal Weapon 1 Soundtrack Question.......2005-03-17

Apparently it was released on CD for the first (and only) time in 2002. Only 3000 printings were made. I have not found one copy for sale on any major or minor websites. If anyone knows a website, or a major store (eg. the Virgin Megastore in NY) that has a copy please post. Also, it is suprising that so few copies were made for a soundtrack of a movie that grossed so much. Older, less successful movies still have available soundtracks. Can anyone shed some light on these questions? Thanks

Wonderful, groovy Jazzy tunes.......2004-12-13

This soundtrack has to be the best of the Lethal Weapon soundtracks. With the great George Harrison singing "Cheer Down" with incredible ryhthm and Randy Crawford performing "Knockin' On Heaven's Door". Just for these two this OST is worthy.

The real gem however is the collaborations of Eric Clapton and David Sanborn. Just listen to track 4 ("Riggs"), Sanborn's saxophone and Clapton's electronic guitar merge perfectly to create one of the most groovy tunes I have ever had the pleasure to listen to. Simply perfect.

The late Michael Kamen does an incredible job of orchestrating the other tunes in this OST as well.

Well worth the price, if you ever loved the LW series or just like jazzy tunes in general, then this is for you. This is a soundtrack that have stayed with me for years and I still like to listen to it while cruising in my car.

The soundtrack to lethal weapon 2 is absolutely beautiful; the theme in 'Riggs and Roger' that recurs in 'Goodnight Rika' and 'Riggs' is powerful and moving; Georfe Harrison's 'Cheer Down' represents brilliant rock and roll; and the other tracks are instrumental rock and roll beauty. All in all it is a wonderful soundtrack to accompany a wonderful movie.

Can't say as I have heard the album.....but...."Cheer Down" as performed by the late, great George Harrison is one of the finest songs of it's genre...the lyrics are absolutely dripping with cycnicism....its also got a nice melody too....

I bought the album purely on the strength of this song alone.....Beatle fans everywhere....you won't be disappointed by this offering....the album is worth it for this song alone....forget the rest....this song is George at his best...
